Deb and Marvin of Shining Stars are fantastic people to work with. SSC was one of the first vendors we hired and I don’t know what our wedding would’ve been like if we had not gone with them. Their expertise and professionalism is unmatched and their willingness to work with our budget, while creating a dream experience is something our guests still rave about today. (Our guests STILL reference the carnitas tacos from our reception!) Hiring Shining Stars was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! We knew Deb and Marvin were amazing partners but the proof really came the night of our wedding. Our guests had RAVE reviews about the food. It blew my expectations! I still remember one of our final meetings, we sat down with Deb for a good 2 hours, sipped champagne, tasted appetizers and talked through the nitty gritty. We are so happy Shining Stars was the cater for our wedding!! We had their passed appetizers and plated dinner service and it could not have been better. All of the guests were raving about the food. The food was incredible, but I was blown away by the service staff. They had so many professional service staff members working. Once we licked our plates clean, someone was there to take our plate. As a mom you hope to make your daughter’s wedding dreams a reality, and that’s what Shining Star Catering did for my daughter. Shining Star Catering knows what they are doing. I rate them as No. 1 in my book. They were my go to for everything and it was the smart and perfect chose. I live in Miami, FL., I had to plan my daughter’s wedding from Miami in Kansas City. With the help of Marvin and Deborah Williams from Shining Star Catering, they made it all possible for me to do. Deb at Shining Stars was one of the recommended caterers for our venue and she was a joy to work with for this out-of-town bride! Planning a wedding in KC from Omaha required a lot of emails and a few phone calls before our two in-person meetings but she handled all of our questions promptly and thoroughly. She and her experienced team made making decisions easy to help our Old Hollywood vision come to life. They’ve been around awhile and their attention to detail and recommendations proves they’re the best. Everything ran like a dream and it felt like a true glamorous black-tie dinner party on the day of our wedding! They even saved us appetizers from the cocktail hour to eat in hiding before our Grand Entrance! Deb personally came up to our sweetheart table to check on us and we had several other servers stop by to make sure we didn’t need anything! The groom was super happy we had two full plates of meals to take back to the hotel to eat around midnight because we were starving the next day! Talk about delicious! We used Shining Stars for our catering, went to 2 tastings, and have nothing but great things to say about the food. Although I felt like we didn't have 1 point of contact and the process was a bit confusing and I had to stay on top of them with deadlines, etc.... They were wonderful to work with. We had Shining Stars cater our daughter's wedding reception and they did a fabulous job. We found out about them at an Open House and like their food so decided to go with them. My daughter worked with them on the details so I can't really comment on the process leading up to the reception. However, I can say the food was fabulous and we had many many people commenting all night long about it. They made themselves available through the evening but also stayed appropriately in the background serving our guests when needed. Thomas was the person who my daughter worked with the most and he was super responsive, very friendly, pleasant and flexible. And, the food was just as we expected! Words cannot describe how great Shining Stars Catering is. The caterer that worked with us (Debra) was incredible and was one of the most flexible and accommodating people I have ever met and really she decreased a lot of stress in planning this wedding. I planned a wedding while living in a different state, balancing a very demanding full time job, and preparing to move out of the country. On top of all that, we did not have a wedding planner. Booking with Shining Stars was one of the best decisions I made while planning my wedding and here is why: 1) the food, 2) they are the complete total wedding planning package and 3) Deborah, Owner and Executive Chef.

First off, their food is absolutely delicious. My family enjoyed the food they provided at the Bridal Tasting Event, our personal tasting and the wedding! With several of our guests being from out of town I really wanted to showcase what KC is famous for…the BBQ! We received so many compliments on the food from our guests. Some guests even told us the pulled pork was some of the best they had ever had.

Booking with Shining Stars is not just booking delicious food but the service and experience in wedding planning is also outstanding. They provide a Day of Coordinators for a very reasonable price, and I truly enjoyed working with her. She was invaluable leading up to the wedding and the day of. We also worked with Shining Stars to find a rental chair company and coordinated using their chairs for the ceremony. Planning a wedding you have so many vendors to contact, it was nice to partner with Shining Stars and have them help.

The first time I met Deborah, was at my personal tasting, and we had already booked with Shining Stars. During the tasting Deborah spent extra time working with me to develop the flow of the reception. That experience was incredibly helpful and took so much pressure off. Deborah is a true professional and is very experienced with weddings, and she went above and beyond helping me and ensuring that we were pleased with the service.

I will only use Shining Stars for my future catering needs! Deb and her team were absolutely amazing for our wedding cocktail hour and reception. Being in Kansas City, we had the BBQ buffet and the food is DELICIOUS! Our guests could not stop talking about how great every piece of food was, including the local BBQ sauce and pickle bar. The team was so accommodating with our wants/financial needs and really made us feel like friends. There was complete trust in their services which greatly reduced my stress for the day. Deb and her team are so wonderful! We met them at a Perfect Wedding Guide wedding fair and it was pretty much decided right then and there. My fiance and I used one of their special event nights to taste their food for the first time. It was incredible! It was even good warmed up as leftovers the next day. Shining Stars Catering was beyond wonderful!! The accommodated just about every request. Their response time was almost immediate. They shared their wisdom and experience to make the day as beautiful as possible.
Here is the kicker. The roast beef and chicken dishes we chose were exquisite! The meats were as tender and flavorful as they could be. The side dishes were very tasty as well. Presentation was very professional.
I will recommend this company to everyone I know looking for a caterer.

From the first time we met with Deborah and her husband to discuss our options and taste their entree samples, we knew we had found the perfect caterer for our daughters wedding reception. Our tasting session was like dining with old friends who shared common interests! They were warm, friendly, and professional, and offered great value for their service. Shining Stars Catering was wonderful to work with for our wedding. We sat down with the owners, Deb & Marv on two separate occasions - they work really hard to make sure they understand your vision and plan for the day. We did passed appetizers during the cocktail hour and a selection of heavy appetizers for our reception and there was more than enough food for everyone and I heard nothing but rave reviews. The staff was extremely attentive - one worker offered to light the candles on the tables for me because he recognized it hadn't been done. My husband and I didn't get a chance to eat much because we were busy mingling, but Shining Stars made sure to deliver plates to our seats, which was such a nice gesture. My father has severe food allergies and Shining Stars made a special plate just for him which was such a relief for me to know that he had something he could eat! We used Shining Stars Catering last spring for our wedding and they were phenomenal to say the least. Deb was amazingly easy to work with from the get go and she made it her priority to put together a menu we loved at a price we could afford. We went to several tastings and were blown away by their fabulous spread of food each time. Even a year later, our guests still comment on how great the food was at our wedding. In fact, WE still talk about it, which is why we asked Deb a few weeks ago if she would be opposed to recreating our wedding menu for my husband and I so we could celebrate our first anniversary. Hands down the best food you can finds for an event of just about any size. Everyone there went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect! As a chef I worked really close with them to make sure that all parts of the catering were up to my extremely high standards of food and presentation. They were a blast to work with and the spread they showed up with was amazing! It's been almost two weeks since our event and I still have my guest calling and telling me how great the food was. They are very willing to make sure that you get what you would like while staying budget as they know how important that is for most people when becoming wed. They only bring the very freshest ingredients to the table and there prices and willingness to create the perfect far exceeded mine and my wife's expectations truly, and if you don't see what you really want on some of there preset menu options, just ask and they will do there very best to make sure you get want you want at a cost you can afford.

I could have not asked for better food and a better catering company to be a part of our wedding day!! Deb from Shining Stars was so great and really helped make my husband and I feel comfortable and confidant in their services!

We had originally gone with a different catering company for our big day and after horrible customer service, unfair treatment, and getting cheated out of our deposit we decided to cut our losses and find a new caterer to go with. This is the best decision we could have ever made!

The food was amazing, it honestly could not have been any better!! We had compliments all night and people are still telling us how much they enjoyed the food! I would definitely recommend this company, they love what they do and its shows!

I was married on May 5th 2012 at Studio B and Shining Stars provided our reception appetizers and dinner. I could NOT have been MORE pleased or happy with Shining Stars. If you are a bride out there looking for an amazing company to cater your wedding please use this fabulous people!! The food was amazing..I have had so many compliments that is was the BEST wedding food they have had. :-) We were married on Cinco De Mayo and so I had an interactive Taco Bar and lots of other yummies!!

This company is absolutely AMAZING! They were my best decision I made for my wedding and they made my day go off without a hitch.

Deborah and her staff are so kind and went above and beyond for my event. For our first meeting, Deb came to the town where I live to meet with me and had endless ideas to help me create the food and atmosphere I envisioned for my wedding day. This group was so easy to get in contact with if I ever had questions and showed continued excitement for me as the months progressed to my wedding day.

When my wedding venue was shut down, Deb and Julie swooped in and saved the day. They found me a new wedding venue within an hour of hearing the bad news and took the time to work with me over the next several weeks to make sure everything would be perfect.

I'm not sure where to start on the great experience I had with Shining Stars Catering. I stumbled upon them from a recommendation and I'm so glad I did! Deb was the friendliest person to work with. As a bride, you tend to change your mind, your budget, your ideas and Deb was willing to work with them all without making me feel like I was being crazy, which is such a relief when you are trying to plan a wedding. When my catering budget needed to be cut by 25%, she had all sorts of ideas on how to do that while keeping it a beautiful event. She never made me feel embarrassed or guilty about it. Deborah and her crew are simply amazing. The food is delicious, well-prepared and the cost value is tremendous. She even met me at my venue in order to determine the layout BEFORE I had booked her! Deborah loves to go above and beyond, which she showed when she ordered German bread rolls that she picked up herself from a source only she could find for my German fiancee and his parents. She also incorporated a recipe from a Utah vacation we had taken the previous year. It turned out fantastic, and I've had several people ask for copies of the recipe because it was so delicious.
