After a busy afternoon of shopping, my grown daughter and I stopped in and decided to split their Rueben sandwich. Â It was honestly the best sandwich I'd ever had. Â Tons of the most tender corned beef and normally I limit my meat consumption, but this was so delicious I ate more than I normally would. The rye bread too was thick, fresh and homemade. I usually go for thin bread but the flavor was incredible. Â I won't splurge too often, but I'll be back here for another. More...

We went here after a Colts game. It is a big place with lots of cafeteria-style seating. Despite all of the other Colts fans there, we got our food quickly. My pastrami sandwich was very good. I liked the miso soup as well. The desserts, though, were outstanding. The oreo cheesecake was my favorite of the ones I tried, with the Boston cream pie being a close second. The lemon cake was also good. More...

Huge portions enough to share or take home. Appreciated the server changing his gloves before plating my gluten-free bread to avoid cross contamination. Good vegan, gluten-free options for me and many meat & dessert options for my husband. We love this place! More...

Went here for a rueben. Huge sandwich, delicious. We went on Jan 1st so expected a long line which was wrapped around the restaurant. It moved fast and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly, tables clean and plenty of places to sit down and eat. Our group tried the Mac and cheese, deviled eggs( huge and delicious), potato cakes, cole slaw, ruebens, devils food cheesecake, poppy seed cake and chips. Way more food than we needed but will not go to waste when we get home. They have to go containers for you to take the leftovers home where the drinks are and a convenient place to do carry out. Will definitely be a New Years spot for us. More...

This is a classic, Jewish/kosher-style deli. Â It is like something out of NYC, except more reasonable prices and offered cafeteria-style. Â The pastrami was fantastic. Â The cole slaw was quite good too, as were the potato pancakes (an order includes 2). Â My kids loved the matzo ball soup. Â The sliced kiwi was good and fresh. Â The only (slight) disappointment was the cooked spinach, which was blah. Â This must be a popular place for Colts games, since the stadium is close by. Amazing desserts and baked goods on hand too -- cakes, pies, Napoleons, cannoli, huge challot, rugelach. Â Like a NYC bakery! More...

This is an establishment in Indy. One of the best places in Indy. Everything there is phenomenal and there is something for everyone. Their sandwiches are amazing and their deli meat is handmade, which you can tell.A few recommendations, go early because the lines get long and they don't serve ham since it is a Jewish deli. More...

Great Jewish deli/cafeteria that takes you back to what the late 50's had to feel like. Â Great reuben and pastrami sandwich, even though the prices were a touch high. I'd come back for some great food and nostalgia. More...

Do you ever look at your plate and think, I can't believe I paid $X for such a small portion? Not at Shapiros! The portions are amazing & the food is fresh and delicious. I enjoyed a build your own turkey sandwich with all the fixings. My dining companions dove into hearty bowls of broccoli cheddar soup that was warm, creamy, and perfect for a cold night. Best of all? Where other places charge you more for a salad that's tiny, they serve you up a salad big enough for two! More...

What is not to love about Shapiro's Delicious sandwiches, I love their thick noodle chicken stew once a week, the matzo ball soup is amazing, reubens, pies, cakes, this place is a classic and a must go when visiting Indianapolis. Just the fact that they make sandwiches with warm meat and roast beef is so so yummy. Please never update the decor, you are perfect how you are and I love that it's like walking back in time, to a better time, when you walk in the door. . Â Large NYC movie style cafeteria with plenty of seats, nice selection of hearty home style food. I had the Thick tasty meatloaf, mashed potatoes. Quite filling. Â I grabbed a piece of the most robust, moist, juicy Red Velvet cake I've ever eaten. Delicious. Â I was, however shocked, when I went to the register and my bill was $17. Â That's alot for lunch under any circumstance I've been in..including eaten lunch in San Fran & NYC. Lol. Â At any rate I'd like to try them out for dinner and try some of their other amazing looking cakes . More...

Ample parking south of the building with plenty of signs to assist with navigating if it's your first time. This restaurant has been around forever. It’s a little pricey, but worth every penny. I love to get the potato cakes with whatever entree I choose. They also have excellent gluten-free bread. If you have enough willpower to pass up the desserts, you are a very strong person because they are delicious. If you’re dining on a budget, try ordering the chopped steak, single with two sides and bread. It’s about $8. If you really want to save money, order the same plate with two chopped steak paddies, an extra side and split it with your companion. It will still be more food than you can eat because the servings are very generous! More...

Ranks up there with the famous  delis in New York City.  They have the best Rueben imaginable. In business over 100 years, they must be doing something right.  Great bakery, absolute best rye bread, cheesecake.  A German restaurant in Chicago that is famous for it's rye bread can't begin to compare with Shapiro's.
