We spent the day yesterday doing our engagement shoot! My husband and I hired David over the phone after doing extensive research on him and several other photographers. I could not find a bad review! He had such a down to earth personality and ease to his voice. We were sold and never looked back! Our engagement pictures were part of our package and we really enjoyed meeting David and developing a sense of comfort ahead of time. The day of the wedding David and his crew were top notch! We booked his biggest package that included 2 photographers and 2 videographers for the day. They were prompt on arrival and quickly took care of those detail shots and final touches of getting ready. Our wedding party and family felt so comfortable and couldn't believe how laid back yet professional the guys were. I never imagined I'd laugh so much with my photographers! We've received a large sneak peek of about 100 photos and can't wait to see the rest along with the videos! If you are lucky enough to have found David A Selby, hire him as a photographer. He photographed our wedding in September and he was perfect. I started looking for a photographer late, and I didn't really know what I wanted, I only knew my budget. David fit the budget and I really loved his pictures. He was awesome in reaching out and asking the right questions leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding, everything was chaos (our reception venue was inaccessible because of flood waters) and David walked right into that chaos in a place he had never been with people he had never met and didn't flinch. He was the perfect amount of personable (he's just a super nice guy), and dedication. His relaxed manner and flexibility will make the photo part of your day a breeze (even if you are tense as hell). From the beginning of meeting David he was extremely accommodating, easy to work with, not to mention talented! He puts his clients first which is proved by his simple ask of "where's convenient for you to meet up? " From our initial meeting, David was very professional and both my fiance and I felt extremely comfortable around him. His welcoming demeanor makes for a comfortable photo shoot for both engagement photos and our wedding photos! He has a way of being stealthy and silent to capture real moments that you had no clue he was able to even get, along with speaking up and making people comfortable when necessary such as around kids or people who may be shy when taking photos. I love how David truly loves what he does, and feels like a part of your family or friend on your day- all of our friends and family loved him and his crew of videographers/photographers. We were blown away by our pictures when we got them! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
There's really no secret. It's just a matter of framing and exposure paired with vast experience and establishing relationships. I've got the equipment. I've got the experience. My goal is to be real and personal with you so we can have a casual and comfortable space to hang out and make memories.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The goal is to get to know one another. So I'll delve right in to learning about you. I'll naturally tell you about me as we go because I want the comfort of you knowing who I am, as well.
What do you love most about your job?
I love capturing the human element of whatever moment or event I'm shooting. Whether that's in video or photo, I like getting caught up in the significance of a wedding day, or even a family photo session. There's so much reward in knowing I just captured a great memory and stored it in this vessel we call a "photo" or a "video" where it can be enjoyed for allllll the rest of time. I also love editing. While I don't like to over-edit a photo, I think there's a certain edge I give every shot which will really make it pop... or with video, I love manipulating the dynamic and the feel of video through song choice and timing my cuts. I like finding ways to move people emotionally in a positive way when they see the final product.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I always had the camera in my hands growing up. I come from a big family and it was very common for us to watch back home videos, or memories from our younger years. Sometimes we'd video our trip to the Christmas tree farm and then watch it back THAT night! So I learned trial and error at a young age. I could shoot something in a unique way, or stage something in the heat of the moment, and then surprise everyone later when we watched it back. I learned to edit video when I was in high school, which took my videos to a whole new level. I could add music, speed a shot up, or slow it down... nothing was more fun to me than entertaining people through my work. So that's where it took off... once I finished college, I kind of knew what I wanted to do. I started offering my embellished home videos to those who were getting married and it evolved into what my business is today.

Wedding Videography
Unable to make it as a professional athlete (haha), I began my career in videography after I finished up college and I never looked back. I consider my work in video to be "filmmaking." I capture your day as it is, but I tell the story in a mixture of documentary and cinematic fashion.
Photo Booth - FREESTYLE
I offer what I call the "Freestyle Photo Booth." We break out the flash umbrellas and props, and shoot on the background of your choice. Rather than cram 3 or 4 people into a box, we give you the space to take full group photos that come back to you as professional images. Every reception needs activities and entertainment for the guests while YOU enjoy your day. Why not do an activity that creates laughs and high quality images?
