This Portal opens up right on Earth, in the United States, state of Arizona, in the lovely village of Sedona. Right above a local municipal airport. Set atop a beautiful vista. There is plenty of tourist attractions right there at the Portal & it is a popular destination with lots of activities taking place. There is a resturant and tour operations set up for Portal transit arrivals & local curiosity seekers. There is hardly any security, if at all, which is suprising & alarming for a Portal hub. The local natives and Earth bound tourists are seemingly aware of the Portals existence and have developed a mythology around it. Which is kind of amusing, calling it a "Vortex". But remain innocent to it's true nature & purpose. Drop in, but don't interrupt Earth bound air traffic. As it violates one of the directives. More...

Great airport to fly into , great food at La Mesa grill within walking distance from your plane. Well equipped FBO.

Was here with my family in Spring of 1990. We also went to see the Vortex. We were here because we flew in a Cessna Citation I mean Cessna Skylane. I liked the scenery.

Had to laugh when I read some idiot complaining about noise when they live next to an airport. You don't like it? Move! This airport is amazing.

This is a great place to view the red rocks anytime during the day-sunrise to sunset. Easy to get to because the road is paved, although there has been road work on Airport Road during the day recently. Sunset is the busiest time but don't be deterred as the viewing area holds a lot of people without feeding like sardines. Think about getting up there about a half hour to 45 minutes before the reported sunset time and enjoy the view. Clouds have been making for some beautiful colors in the sky and dramatic shadows on the rocks. This is also a great place after sunset for star gazing. It is actually quite dark and on clear or mostly clear nights the Milky Way is striking as well as the many constellations. The best part is that the overlook is free. Donations are accepted and the views alone are worth the dollar per person suggested at the box. Of course any US cash or coin is appreciated. Try to go up at least once when you are in Sedona!
