This was the first time for our furbaby cat, Felix , she had a long weekend of vomiting. The doctor was nice to see us first thing Monday morning. He gave her a shot and gave me instructions on how to care for her. The cost was so affordable and we were in and out. Thank you doctor as of now, this will be our go to moving forward. I took my pup here for a leg injury because it was literally down the street from my house. They were super busy and being a first time customer, thankfully one of the doctor's app got canceled and they were able to squeeze me in. I filled out the usual paper work to register my frenchie. One thing I loved right away about this hospital was that it was newly renovated and very modern like from the outside and in compared to other vet clinics that look depressing! Our doctor was Dr. Ross. He and the other staff were very friendly and understanding, which is a plus because it being my first time as a pet owner and having my pup have an accidental injury from playing was nerve wrecking enough. Before proceeding with taking X-rays and giving pain killer injections to my pup, they came in with a exact estimate of the bill which I appreciated and had me confirm. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! I'm gonna tell a little story for my case. I had 2 dogs, Coco & Ginger. At the beginning of this year, Coco needed teeth cleaning and I took him to this veterinary in Milpitas. Coco ended up passing away on that day which I will not go into details. Fast forward till this October, I felt that Ginger was due for a teeth cleaning procedure but I had been putting it off due to what happened to Coco. I called SJ Animal Hospital and expressed my concerns to the staffs who were extremely understanding. A few days before Ginger's surgery, Dr. Ross called me to walk me through the procedure which I really appreciated. On the day of the surgery, I brought Ginger in at around 9am but I asked the staff if I could sit with Ginger before they have to bring her in because she is a nervous dog. They were totally okay and super understanding. They called to update me on how Ginger were doing. I was so anxious that day because I was so worried the same thing would happen to Ginger. They finally called me to tell me she was doing so well in surgery and I can pick her up. They ended up pulling 17 of her teeth but they gave me a discount which I was not expected at all! I am so so so grateful for the staffs and how hard they work. Ginger is now back to her old self and she is super playful again. 10/10 would totally recommend SJ Animal Hospital! More...

As I'm a foster with 13th Street Rescue, I've been to SJAH several times to have over 10 kittens spayed or neutered over the last 2 years. The staff is ALWAYS polite and friendly and my fosters have been ready for pickup on time each time. Kitties have always looked good after their procedures and have bounced right back from kitty anesthesia/operations. I've been bringing all my pets to San Jose Animal Hospital for about 10 years now. I started going to the clinic under previous ownership because they had done a ton of work to support the animal rescue I adopted my cat from. I now volunteer for that same rescue and I'm grateful they still continue to support our group!Dr. Doty's team is always positive and wonderful to work with and they have always provided excellent care for my pets. This past year, I adopted a very challenging dog, Riley, a 4-year-old German shepherd mix, from the local shelter. She looked like a zombie -- she was hairless and her whole body was black and inflamed from mange and skin infections due to untreated allergies. Her one ear was permanently scarred and flops down (hematoma) from constant ear infections. On top of that, she wasn't socialized properly and she's very afraid of strangers and other dogs so trips to the vet are a struggle. The staff are SO kind and patient with her, she mostly behaves (though, I think they appreciate that I muzzle her for everyone's comfort!) Megan, Chris, Brian, and everyone - they are all awesome.Over the last year, Dr. Ross has provided wonderful care and gotten her skin and ear issues mostly under control. We are currently doing allergy immunotherapy shots to finish up the job. She's a brand new dog and *finally* living a comfortable, happy life after so many years of suffering. I recently took my dog in to get a consultation. I arrived inside just a few minutes after my scheduled time as I wanted my dog to go potty outside first before coming in. The front desk was very nice and got me checked in without any issue. I filled out some paperwork before seeing the vet as this was my dog's first time coming here. She was very nervous and shaking, which was expected, but she started to calm down as soon as we started the process. The employees were in awe of her big ears but were understanding when I said that she gets very nervous. I had spoken to Yissel over the phone to book our appointment and she had also checked my dog's weight and brought us to the exam room. My dog was starting to look less nervous by this time! We waited for our vet, Dr. Chen, to check my dog's teeth and to make sure she is good to go for her spay and dental cleaning/extraction next month. Dr. Chen was very calm, sweet, and helpful. She was able to approach my dog in a calm manner, earning my dog's trust. Dr. Chen gave her some pets to soothe my dog's anxiousness and fear. I went over the reasons for the consultation and Dr. Chen was very helpful. Dr. Chen explained to me that my dog had a lot of plaque and tartar build up, and saw that my dog needed her baby teeth pulled out. She also let me know that my dog's mammary glands felt normal! I asked a couple of questions in regards to the dental cleaning/extraction. Dr. Chen and Yissel were able to get me an estimate for the procedures. The cost was affordable, which is awesome in my book. On top of that, I asked for anything related to pre-op, during operation, and post-op. Yissel provided a form that gave me a list of what I asked. She went over it with me and said that it was something I can take home and decide until my dog's appointment in February. This is perfect. It isn't a sales pitch after sales pitch kind of practice. I have been to another vet office before that estimated at least twice the cost for the same operations and seemed to have added unnecessary fees... I saw, or  that the San Jose Animal Hospital is very much pet lovers. I couldn't help but overhear some cute pet stories from the exam room during my wait. I appreciate the employees and vets here so much for making my dog feel comfortable. Everyone here is doing everything in their power to make our pets feel better. They definitely deserve the appreciation. Excited to get my dog the care that she needs from SJAH in February!-- updateMy family puppy, Boba, was taken care of very well before, during, and after her surgery. The staff were sweet to little and scared boba in for a spay surgery. boba came out looking pretty good and her incision was looking very nice. She had internal sutures with surgical glue outside to seal the incision site. About a week later and her incision site is looking much better. Boba is a puppy so she definitely bounced back quick. I will always remember on August 15th, my cat, Comet, who has been healthy all his 16 year of life all in a sudden started to have uncontrollable bowel and bladder, weakness in his legs, and shortness of breaths. Then within a minute or two he began to have foam coming out from his mouth. I called San Jose Animal Hospital with my frightened voice and the reception lady was nice and calm enough to gather the information and helped to arrange the emergency visit.  Although the drive was only 10 minutes away, I felt like it was forever as I was calling "Comet, Comet, don't fall asleep!" As soon as I arrived, a very nice gentleman (staff) saw me and asked me "is everything ok?" Then he immediately arranged a room for Comet. Every body there was very caring and helpful. They performed all different kinds of testing and updated me about my cat's condition, which was a very critical health issue with congestive heart failure and pleural effusions resulting saddle thrombus. The prognosis was poor and Comet was suffering. After all of the explanations and considerations, it was a very difficult decision to make yet we have decided to have euthanasia for Comet. I had been crying the whole time and the staff continued to comfort me and offered me with tissue paper and water. They were very supportive and I did see that they understood the grieves. I can't thank them enough by trying their best to treat Comet and avoid further suffering for him. They explained every procedure clearly. They were even nice enough to extend their business hours for my family to come and see Comet for the very last time.Now that Comet has passed away for 9 days and trust me this has been really difficult that I have been very emotional at every single moment. As my dad helped me get the mail today and I received a card from San Jose Animal Hospital with all the hand written encouraging and supportive messages. I truly appreciate this and I'm thankful for all the blessing for my lovely Comet from them.Thank you all who work at San Jose Animal Hospital for providing high quality care and respect to all of the lovely pets and owners. I will for sure strongly recommend this animal hospital to all of my friends who have their furry angels at home! More...

Made the appointment, I did not have a name for the kitten and wasn't able to tell the sex right away of the feline. Honestly the best place for your pets! The staff is always nice and attentive as soon as you walk in the place. You never have to wait long, and at all times they are there guiding you so your pet can be looked at ASAP and get his room to be looked at. I've been coming to this vet for over 4 years and I loved them until recently. I called to schedule an appointment for my dog. I needed to schedule my dog for an appointment for Saturday. They informed me that they were fully booked; however, they could fit me in, but I would have to pay a $15 fit in fee (I was open for the next 3 Saturdays). If they were fully booked and only accepted emergencies I would completely understand, but it appears they have appointments available but want to charge their loyal customers a fit in fee. I wasn't even given the option to receive a call in case of a cancellI definitely won't be returning and will look for a vet that appreciates their customers. Update 7/17: Kristen reached out to me and discussed my experience with the office staff. She addressed my concerns and informed me that the $15 drop in fee was for same day appointments, which makes sense.
