I love this place. Here's a story. Ordered takeout for our 3 year olds birthday on 11/23 because she wanted some cheese enchiladas. As part of our order I threw in one of their Guapo margaritas. My wife picked up the order and when she got home, lo and behold, there was no margarita. Not a big deal but definitely annoying. So I called them up and let them know. Instead of a quick credit which I would've gladly accepted, the guy on the phone (Carlos) asked where I live. I told him and he was like "we'll bring it to you." I thought it was overboard because it was just one margarita, but he insisted. Then he said, "looks like you ordered one guapo, but I'll bring you two for the inconvenience." Sure enough, within ten minutes they brought two 'Rita's, chips, salsa, limes and salt. Unbelievable service that is waaaay above and beyond. We love this place. The food is great, but their service is top notch. One of our favorite places in Arlington heights and one we continue to intentionally support during Covid times. I'm so glad that Salsa 17 is able to stay open through COVID-19. First off, they aren't taking reservations, so if you are visiting on a busy night, there might be a momentary wait. I've dined here multiple times through COVID and have felt at ease every time. The staff all wear masks, they sanitize between parties, tables are spaced, etc. They also have QR code's that are scannable to view the menu, which is a great way to reduce the spread of germs. The food is amazing! I have chicken fajitas every time and they just keep getting better and better. The chicken is so flavorful, cooked perfectly, and is so tender. My favorite drink is the frozen mango margarita! The outdoor seating is beautiful and decorated well. Salsa 17 is a must, and I recommend to everyone! More...

Open layout setting with creatively themed walls to give an ambiance of an authentic Mexican restaurant. Waiters wear themed t-shirts, and a made-from-scratch guacamole station adds a nice touch and fun to the experience. The service was quick and attentive, and our orders came out fast. First came the complimentary chips and salsa, then we ordered the pozole verde (soup), and steak fajitas with wine. The chips were a little hard and on the salty side; however, they were enjoyable with the salsa. The soup had large portions of pork and was pleasant despite most pieces being so large they needed to be cut to be manageable. Lastly, the steak on the fajitas was well prepared and juicy, but it was undermined with over-oiled fried peppers and onions.While the decor and the atmosphere was enjoyable, the food lacked bolder and more interesting flavors - I caught myself thinking that Chipotle accomplishes more on boldness and balance of flavors than what we got.Overall, it's a nice choice for a mix-it-up restaurant or if a drink and a light appetizer is what you're craving. I always enjoy coming out to AH for a great meal and service and I know exactly where to go, Salsa 17! The best server is Emily hands down! She is very personable and recognized me for the second time after 6 months of not being around due to COVID. I was shocked that she remembered me, but it just proves how she is a fantastic server. I so miss Salsa 17 now that we've moved far away. We dine there every time that we come to visit Chicago.The menu is broad and deep and, over the past two years, several of the recipes have been modified to make them healthier and lighter. Everything is flavorful and delicious, from the table side prepared guacamole and queso.Some of the items in their specials menu are "to die for" good. The tilapia with plantains and pineapple is exceptional as is the pork with adabo cream sauce.The margaritas are wonderful as are several of the other cocktails we've tried. I went back last week on Sunday this restaurant was always consistent with their food. My wife and daughter got skirt stake both were good but potatoes were cold and stale. I had the burrito with stake but the stake was burned and dry, the kids meals were dry and cold they didn't even touch them. Also the food came very late. So so...service not terrific. The waiter brought an incorrect order and then accused us of not remembering what we ordered. Food was ok at best - "enchiladas" were soft tacos covered in sauce. I told the hostess/manager she should remove the offensive vase from the women's room and she looked at me like I was crazy. Stumbled across this gem while out running errands on this Sunday afternoon. We both enjoyed frozen margaritas. I selected the Mole Poblano pollo Enchiladas and my man had steak Enchiladas with salsa Verde. Both were amazing, especially the mole poplano! Ok, so i really really hate leaving poor reviews, but honesty is important. First the good stuff: the staff was super nice and polite. The place itself is really cute. We were seated at one of the high tables outside without any wait, but soon after the restaurant got pretty crowded and busy. Now to the more problematic items. We ordered the peach sangria - so sweet that it was almost undrinkable - make sure to stir it well, or you'll be left with sticky sweet peach syrup (may be peach schnapps?) at the bottom. Almost no fruit in the sangria, just a sad slide of orange. We got our order in pretty quickly (thanks) and were told we'd get some chips and salsa (complimentary, comes to every table). After getting our meal, and still no chips, we politely asked the server for them. Got the chips, but no salsa. Asked for salsa. Salsa never came. (Chips were good). I ordered the ceviche de camaron. That was a bowl of cold sweetish tomato soup with boiled shrimp and a quarter of an avocado on top, and oddly some ice cubes too. I was really wishing for that salsa now to add to my dish so it'd taste like something. My friend ordered steak tacos. She was fine with them, so no issue there. We asked for Palomas as our second round of drinks and were brought extremely sour margaritas (with salt rimmed glasses and all). No hint of grapefruit, also not the right color for a Paloma. The waiter later asked if we liked the Palomas, so it's not like he got the order wrong, may be picked up wrong drinks from the bar? It was a really busy night for them, but this was just way too many strikes, especially for the prices charged. More...

Lots of outdoor seating during the pandemic. They have time limits on dining at tables apart of their protocols due to COVID. Food was good and service was efficient. We were seated outdoors right away and our waiter was friendly but the food was honestly some of the worst Mexican food I' ve ever had. BLUF: Salsa 17 is moderately priced with a unique menu and great drinks.I really enjoy the outdoor seating. The ambiance is worthy of an Instagram post to say the least. The menu has a lot of options and their specials are always a good choice if you cannot makeup your mind. I usually start with table side guacamole. Their house salsa is also fabulous. I really enjoy their cedar plank salmon (it comes with mashed potatoes that are to die for). I hear their margaritas are delicious, but I cannot attest to that because I have not tried them yet. Favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! I love the atmosphere, food and location of Salsa 17! Chips and salsa taste great and are brought to you right away! Get the red sangria - you won't regret it. I usually get the tacos americanos and am always happy! Table side guacamole is also great! All so fresh! Experience: This was actually the first restaurant that my girlfriend and I visited in a long time. We wanted to go out for dinner since it was the first couple days of Illinois lifting some restrictions during the COVID phases. Staff was very professional, clean, and friendly. With a part of two, we were able to be seated fairly quickly without any reservations. Parking: There appears to be free street parking for 2 hours in the proximity of the restaurant. Depending the time you go, parking may be difficult, but not impossible. We took a visit during the weekend in dinner time hours and we were able to find parking fairly quickly. Worth: Ambience was very nice and the restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. We had a couple of margaritas and quesadillas (As pictured below). After dinner, we were able to walk around and enjoy the quant downtown that Arlington Heights can offer. I would definitely visit here again. Worth it! More...
