Salon Fodera

When I am staying at the St. Regis I always have a blow out from Sal at the Salon Fodera. He is excellent, takes his time and is just a really fun and funny guy to chat with. He remembers everything, even if it has been over a year since I've seen him.I really like the way that they have the sinks at the station and the stylist who is blowing out your hair also washes it. It's a really personal touch. Most recently I had my hair blown out for a black tie gala and the style was perfect and three days later I'm still rocking a perfect blow out.Definitely a fan and would recommend to anyone. More...

I love the total experience and it starts at the front door! First class service with warm and friendly atmosphere. We (my wife and I)  have been getting our hair cut at Fodera for almost 25 years, exclusively.  We are discriminating perfectionists in every way, from decor to the artistry of our cuts.  The Foderas have created an elegant, welcoming environment where everyone is made to feel special among the most elite clientele in the world.  And the artistry of Sal, Gianni, Vincent, Joseph and Dee is second to none. Each and every haircut is tailored to each individual's need. I see Vincent for color and trim and he's absolutely fabulous. I have very dark brown hair and color it to a very light honey blonde. I have to go every three weeks because my roots drive me crazy, but I think Vincent is fabulous. I love the salon because it's small and quiet- I always disliked going to a salon with 30 women at a time. I found Vincent when I was planning my wedding at the St. Regis two years ago. He is very smart and listens to what you want (or what you think you want) but offers his opinion and tells you how it can work or not. A bachelor/gentleman in nYc has two choices for  a haircut: Gianni or anybody else.  It's that simple.  He weaves contour---he accounts for the  s h a p e  of your head---and precision into the most presentable style for you, and then it actually grows in even better as weeks go by after you have left the salon.  Is seventy-five dollars expensive for a haircut?  Absolutely, especially if you're used to barber-shop quality.  But with a premium cocktail now fetching up to twenty dollars that lasts for twenty minutes, to look your best for his fee is a square deal for sure.  After all, you never know who may be checking you out as you sip that Sidecar.  And please don't let these celebrity sightings within other reviews intimidate you.  We are all celebrities in there. salon Fodera is without a doubt the premier salon for men in Manhattan and from what I have heard and seen they are great with women too.  The owner Sal and his whole staff treat you like family and their stylists have world class cutting, coloring and shaving skills.  Now you will pay for this service and expertise.  While I am very far from a metro-sexual I appreciate a good hair cut and close and relaxing shave. I think men's cuts run about $50 and shaves about $20 / $25.  However being in this underground "spa" is a little slice of heaven and their cappuccino is absolutely "fantastic"  --you could park a chevy tahoe on the froth of their cappuccino--that's how thick and rich it is! (the cappuccino is free by the way as are other drinks liker Perrier, wine etc) .Fodera is a kind of "who's who" in salons..their stylists compete in international hair styling competitions and they usually win (you can see their trophies on the wall). And just about every famous TV and Film star that's been in Manhattan has or has had their hair cut there from Trump to Dan Rather to Frankie Valli and many more as Fodera displays their photos and autographs in their waiting area.  From what I hear most of these men are regulars and on more than one occasion I have seen a newscaster, Australian business and media mogol, or actor having their hair cut.I doubt there's any men's salon more expensive in Manhattan and I know there's none better.
