Finally tried this last night. Oh my goodness!! My only complaint would be that my stomach wasn’t big enough for all the delicious food! ! The salsa that came out before the meal was amazing. I’m kind of kicking myself for not asking for a container of it to go (is that a thing?). I ordered chimichangas, only because I couldn’t decide what sounded best. I was not disappointed!! Honestly, I can’t say enough about how delicious my food was, BUT what put our visit over the top was our server, LaShawn. She was so bubbly and happy and awesome!! After eagerly anticipating the opening of the downtown Lee’s Summit location, the day finally arrived that we got to try it out! Since it was Valentines Day, they were pretty busy, but we still got seated much quicker than expected. We were immediately greeted by LaShawn, our waitress, and she quickly got our drinks, chips and salsa, and took our order. Within minutes, our cheese dip appetizer came out followed surprisingly quickly by our dinner - pasteles and pinto gallo. After my husband took his first bite of the rice and beans, he said he was transported back to Costa Rica, where we had spent a couple of weeks 8 years ago. The combination of seasonings and chimichurri sauce created a masterfully flavorful dish that sent my husband falling into nostalgia. And did I mention the plantains - YES PLEASE!! What I loved even more about the food (which was a 10/10) was the level of service and attention we were given. Reggie came by to ensure we were being properly taken care of, Priscilla checked on us, and we got the opportunity to meet Franny (I think) on the way out (the creator of this amazing food). And not in a “you doing ok” kind of way and off to the next table, but genuinely interested in our experience and opinions. You don’t often find that level of customer service these days. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it a full week before I walk through the doors of Sabor Latino again to discover what other amazingness awaits me (they were out of pupusas tonight and now I want them even more!). Great experience! My first time at Sabor and was warmly greeted as soon as we stepped in the door. It was a busy night but they quickly turned a table and we were soon seated. Alyssa our waitress brought us menus, waters, chips and salsa within 5 minutes but never rushed us about ordering. We had the pork empanadas and the platano relleno. Delicious!!
