I have to say. The food is just dam good. I had the burnt ends and they were like eating candy. my friend had the mac and cheese with chicken. All was just so very good. Made my first visit here tonight and it instantly became my favorite BBQ spot in Des Moines. The brisket was terrific, burnt ends amazing, and the cornbread was the best I've ever had being some type of hyrid of corn bread and coffee cake. The Mac and cheese could have been better, but everything else made up for it and I look forward to trying the other sides in the future. Would recommend this place to anyone. More...

In my opinion, Rolling Smoke is the best BBQ in Des Moines. Sauces are yummy, not too sweet, not to spicy or vinegary. Meat is perfectly smoked and very tender. Very generous portions except I never seem to have any leftovers!! But I always save room for cornbread. More...

A group of 7 of us ate here this week. Each person said their meal was excellent! Price was fair - exactly what we paid at another locally owned chain. Service was amazing! I wish I had gotten the name of the lady we worked with ..she was very delightful. Food was perfect! Exactly what you would hope for. Serving sizes were extremely generous! WOW! My husband and I stopped in for the first time for lunch today. On the way in, they had their lunch specials on a board outside the front door. When we got inside, almost all the tables were full. The nice woman behind the counter showed us the lunch specials printed on a piece of paper but said that the full menu on the wall was also available. The lunch specials were affordable, anywhere from $5.95 for a meat and fries to $9.95 for a meat and a side. I ordered brisket with the pineapple chipotle sauce and smoked beans and my husband got the burnt ends with spicy slaw and classic BBQ. He said his burnt ends were tender and juicy and the spicy slaw was creamy and spicy and crunchy. The classic BBQ sauce was pretty typical. My brisket was cut into thick slices. There was very little fat on slices so consequently they are a little dry, but not inedible. They were very peppery. In fact, everything was spicy, so if you like spice, you'll love this BBQ. The beans were a little sweeter than I prefer smoked beans to be but had meat mixed in, which I love. The buns were amazing. I didn't ask but I think they were homemade brioche buns. Grilled like garlic bread so they had a deliciously buttery crunch on the cut portion. We had water to drink and our bill was just over $21. Not bad, but not our favorite BBQ in the Des Moines area. They had a few sandwiches I'd like to try and I'd like to try a few more of the sauces. More...

The most DELICIOUS BBQ I think I’ve ever had! The ribs were incredible- sauce was not even required. The corn bread was legit. I think I tasted the nectar of the gods or possibly it was honey. I can’t recall because I was completely blown away by the great people running the place. I wish there was a word stronger than recommend I could use here. Thank you for an amazing dinner! Brisket was delicious, pulled pork was superb! The buns were so fresh, the cornbread was an amazingly fresh treat! Hidden Gem in P.Hill!! Loved this place. We had the Rolling Ace and the Hot Pig and they were Really Good. The Spicy Slaw was amazing. Prices seemed fair and the entire staff was great.
