This place was hot and poppin'! Sunday morning brunch and there is no wait at 10am but as the hour passed it got much busier. Great food, service was good. Coffee is good and the food is amazing! (Try the corned beef hash) amazing!! The dessert case looks like it's filled with many tasty items from pastries to cupcakes to cakes, etc. They have many daily deals/entertainment happenings and live music on some nights. We came here on a Saturday morning for the car n coffee event. We have a Chevy c-10 68'. I was starving so we sat to eat. The first hostess, (didn't catch her name, had a long pony tail) was so sweet . Automatically asked us if we wanted "java". I loved it! Our server came over "Courtney" she was amazing! So cheery! I could tell they were very short staffed but she didn't seem to allow it to get to her. She was apologizing for the wait, but there was none. Our drinks and food came out perfect! Courtney checked on us serval times prior to another great server (male) coming to help us! Both we beyond great! Food was amazing, drink exceptional. I highly recommend the breakfast and pastries! I've been 3 times in 3 days! Day one, I had the Hawaiian Brioche French Toast and coffee. It was very tasty but unfortunately it was served warm, not hot. We were a party of six and as far as I could tell everyone loved their breakfast choices. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros and loved it! The service was fast and friendly. After a disappointing first experience with a quest for cupcakes, the owner reached out after my original review. She was very apologetic and offered to hand deliver the cupcakes we had originally gone to the bakery for, which was very much appreciated. We arranged to pick them up at the bakery instead and didn't have to pay, which we thought of as a good compensation for the strangeness of the first encounter. Our family trollied up here last Friday night, nice surprise that there was a live band playing a super fun mix of music!  The food was good, even had vegan options ! I had to have a truly excellent carrot cake for my son-in-law’s birthday. Google said Rockwell’s had the best carrot cake in Orange County. I agree! I walked in & was greeted by a BEAUTIFUL young woman!!! She answered all my questions & let me get a sample piece. Then her partner a young man got my whole cake: 8” w/ 3 layers—extra thick cream cheese frosting between layers—plus artist birthday greeting on top! The sample was heavenly! I let my daughter & granddaughter eat half of my single piece. They said, “Best they ever had!” Agreed! I will return to Rockwell’s soon. We have had breakfast here after the car show and twice this week. Food is so tasty and reasonably priced. The bacon and sausage are delicious as are those canon potatoes! The Kiki Toast is great as well. The baked goods do not disappoint. All 3 servers have been exceptionally nice. They could be more attentive on our drinks and making sure we have condiments. Not from the area but ate here for breakfast before a competition I had that was at the high school down the street. The menu was simple and had the usual Cali/American breakfast. My teammate had the eggs Benedict, my couch had the surfers breakfast (bacon, eggs, squaw bread) and I had poached eggs on avocado squaw toast with fruit. The squaw bread was so delicious and had a thick lather of mashed avocado on top with a perfect poached egg and a drizzle of olive oil. I didn't know how something so simple could taste truly amazing! As for the side of fruit I was impressed I had a variety of fruit and not your usual melon and pineapple you get from other breakfast spots.The place itself is on the far end of the outlets plaza (which yelp made it confusing where it would be located). The place is fairly sized with an option of outdoor and indoor seating. Wish I had more time to scope the desserts and baked goods but only got a glimpse on my way to the restroom (which was very clean).The only reason I gave this spot 4 stars is bec as an athlete water is extremely important especially before competition. Absolutely love this place ! My husband and I grabbed pastries here on our way home from Orange County one night , after we stopped to let our kiddos stretch their legs at the outlet mall. Little did we know how amazing they would be. We lucked out and hit the "happy hour" time and ended up getting some of them 1/2 price which make it even better. I can honestly say, the croissants were the best ones I've ever had in my life , and my husband said the cannoli was truly amazing and the best ever. I also loved they had some vegan options, as my son can't have dairy . He was able to enjoy a brownie which made everyone happy . We ended up coming back a few more times just for the pastries , then decided to dine in and have dinner one evening . Best food we have ever had!!! I got a burger and my husband got s sandwich. I will say I Love Rockwell's  Cafe in Orange and bought my wedding cake from them many years ago.  Anyway I recently learned they opened at the outlets in San Clemente.  I'm going to say their desserts are more than reasonably priced at only $3 a cupcake.  Compared to other local cafes that cost more and are smaller portions... I tried the Confetti cupcake, a lemon bar and a snickerdoodle cookie.. all were fresh and soft.  Today I went in to try the food with a friend.  The service was prompt friendly and nice.  Our food came out hot and my coffee was refilled timely.   I had breakfast basic eggs, toast, bacon side of avocado... my friend had the salmon salad and verde posole soup... all looked amazing and tasted great!! I hope more people go there because I'm tired of all the other over priced boring breakfast spots in town.... Thank you Rockwell's I will return soon! More...

Same day custom cake. Got the chocolate fudge cake for husbands birthday. We are a chocolate family and it was perfect. However our guest found it in the sweet side and couldn't even eat it all (then again the all have diabetes lol) my husband and i were very satisfied but if you want somethibg less sweet then i wouldnt recommend this. This review is strictly for their cinnamon roll. I just wanted a sweet bakery item that was not at a chain coffee store or restaurant. I remember seeing all of their bakery items before in their bakery case so I decided to come over and see if they had a cinnamon roll which they did. It's probably the size of a small salad plates maybe, 7 inches across. I arrived just after 8 AM and it was freshly made. However I didn't actually eat it until later in the day and I still found it soft, flavorful and not dry. There was just the right amount of sweetness and cinnamon flavor. I would've liked maybe a tiny bit more icing on top or even the side, but it was still good nonetheless, and at $3 I thought it was a very fair value. Okay I came here on a Friday morning and was amazed by their array of pastries!! They had so many different kinds of cakes, cookies and muffins-I felt like I was in heaven. What makes them so unique is their interesting combination of being a bar, restaurant and bakery. I scanned their menu and saw multiple items I would be willing to try, but I only came in for breakfast so I got a coffee and two of their glazed upside down stuffed muffins. They didn't have an exact name for this pastry, but that is what I would best describe it as, and see my picture for a better idea. I got the the carrot cake and the bran muffin which were both stuffed with cream cheese. I also ordered a coffee, and my total came out to $8. Not bad at all, and the muffins were unreal! Solid spot for breakfast and happy hour! It's located at the west-most end of the San Clemente Outlets. Spacious dog-friendly patio out front that even has heaters for the colder days . Great stop for drinks to loosen you up before opening up your wallet for mall shopping. So far, they are the only spot at the outlet mall with a full bar .The bloody Mary's and mimosas are delicious for a weekend morning. But if you are going to eat, I'd recommend doing that after shopping because you are going to be too full and tired to shop ! The service can be somewhat hit or miss. I've had great service here , but then other times the food can take a long time and I've felt almost forgotten. I'm usually so exhausted from shopping and just  happy to be relaxing with my pup on the patio, so it's never really bothered me, but I can see how some might be impatient. For breakfast, try the Kiki's Toast (avocado toast with a poached egg and lemon pepper) or the Eggs Benedict or Breakfast Burrito. Breakfast portions are quite large, so you can easily share if you don't want to be stuffed so full that you can't walk around the mall.Happy hour boasts some good prices on craft beers and cocktails that are pretty average for the most part. I would stick to the beer / wine. The happy hour menu starts early - 2pm on Saturday afternoon- score !! For Happy Hour bites - the fried dill pickle chips are cut like classic fries and are a fun dish to share. They feed 2-3 people in a small silver bucket. The pork sliders and cheeseburger sliders are a great value at $7 and are big enough for a lighter meal for one person.  Skip the nachos - they have a weird , unforgivable cheese sauce on them that makes you actually feel like it's totally possible to screw up nachos, something I didn't think possible. Overall a great addition to the mall , have a great dog friendly vibe and a full bar ! I recommend for those looking to kick back and relax, but not if you are in a hurry. More...
