I wonder if people don't realize that the prix fixe lunch is such a deal. $26 is a low price to pay to get a 3 course meal like this. The food is sublime, and the staff and ambience are wonderful as well. The flavors are balanced, varied and sometimes subtle. Very cool looking place. This place used to be part of the Taft Hotel and looks absolutely awesome. It's multi floor, has a nice wood bar, good food, and can even accommodate wedding size parties.

While researching a location for our wedding, we knew we did not want a traditional wedding hall. Excellent food and ambiance was also a must. Deciding on ROIA was such an easy decision and they delivered! We had a small, family only wedding hosted on the upstairs balcony on the Saturday during Memorial Day weekend. The care and attention provided to us as a couple through the planning process was exceptional. As small as our wedding was, the details and time ROIA put into making sure our day was perfect, did not go un-noticed. We felt a great connection to married owners Avi and Meera, and they understood the importance of making our night so special. The restaurant itself is so visually stunning with the grand high ceilings, original columns, and molding throughout, with a true feeling of romance. There is no comparison of this kind to any other spot in New Haven. ROIA made sure that we were cared for and that the whole evening flowed seamlessly. Our family was blown away by the beauty of ROIA, the food, and the drinks. We will forever be grateful to the ROIA team for making our special day so perfect. I decided to try Roia during restaurant week for my birthday dinner; I am very happy we did. My boyfriend ordered off the restaurant week menu and enjoyed his appetizer in particular. We split a cheese plate which had a lovely variety and I had an amazing cocktail (the orange blossom is great if you love a slightly sweet herbaceous flavor)too. I enjoyed the duck breast for dinner (totally unique flavor combos) and my boyfriend had a delicious beef cheek ragu. We did have to wait a while to get our drinks (they were packed for restaurant week though) but our server Katherine more than made up for that by recommending perfect wines for our meal and suprising us with a desert amaro. Thank you Katherine and the rest of the friendly Roia staff for an unforgettable birthday meal!! Throughout our planning process, ROIA's experience hosting five star weddings was evident. Besides the fabulous owners, the stars of ROIA are the gorgeous space itself -- it's the elegant bar space from the historic Taft Hotel -- and of course.. THE FOOD!We knew from frequent dinner visits how great the appetizers and entrees are on a regular night at ROIA, and Avi provided our 130 guests with exactly the same quality meal, right on cue, at our wedding. My husband and I go here for date night! The mixologist is fantastic, inventive, but not outrageously over the top. The food is thoughtful and the portions are right sized to have an appetizer and a main. As I am a bit tired of American restaurant trying to compensate for middle quality with a huge quantity, this place does not do that! Quality over quantity is my preferred mode and Roja has that!
