What makes a great website?
A great website is visually attractive and quickly delivers the company's message to its visitors. Simplicity of navigation helps to move visitors through the website. And functionality across all platforms is vital to ensuring that no one encounters trouble viewing or navigating the website.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We always start off with three questions:
1. What do you want your website to do?
2. What other websites do you want yours to look like?
3. How much of the source materials (copy, product photos, etc.) does the client already have and what will we need to help create?
Describe your creative process.
Our process is pretty simple. We first try to find out what the client basically wants the site to look like and how they want it to function. Then we attempt to get as much of the text, images and navigation resolved. Next we start the design process and present multiple looks to choose from. Once a design is chosen, we design any secondary pages. Once those are all approved, we build the site and then make any necessary tweaks until the website looks and functions the way the client wants it.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
We need to have as much of the source material as possible. If our help is needed with creating writing, photo shoots or stock photography, those are usually addressed first, since they can severely affect the design of the site.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping clients generate quality promotional materials that improve their overall look and help them get more clients and/or customers.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I enjoy the blend of visual art and marketing tools that graphic design entails. Being able to work directly with clients to improve their branding and promotional materials has been very rewarding.
