There’s a scathingly bad review on Google for this provider—it’s 6 years old but still flying high. With all due respect to the contributor, this criticism is diametrically opposed to my experience with Stephanie over a period of almost a year. Normally I like short, succinct reviews, but I want to set the record straight. Over the years I’ve had massages from around two dozen massage professionals, mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I lived for 25 years before moving to L’ville. I’ve had Swedish, Thai, Shiatsu, and Rolfing, and I like them all, for different reasons. I rank Stephanie among the top two or three practitioners I’ve consulted. She’s mindful, sensitive, and can apply firm pressure when requested, but there’s nothing remotely irritating or painful in her touch. Like any good professional Stephanie does seek out muscle tension and applies her skill to help you release it, but this is not Shiatsu massage. It’s classic Swedish/Deep Tissue. She can be as gentle or as firm as you request, but it’s not meant to hurt, and it doesn’t. It’s up to the client to communicate his/her preference, and to let her know about any recent injuries or problem areas—an achy/stiff shoulder, back, hamstring, calf, whatever. Stephanie has done me a world of good with a persistent rotator-cuff problem. It’s a very painful condition that greatly limits my range of motion, and she’s really helped me with it. I’ve seen an orthopedist twice and am now consulting a physical therapist, but neither of these provides what a professional massage therapist does. Stephanie is reliable, consistent, balanced, generous, and totally professional; she has well and truly earned the highest rating from someone (me) who has more than passing acquaintance with the healing potential of therapeutic massage.
