Q&As

Sometimes the connection with people is my way of having intimacy with mankind.
I Iove the experience of being invested and emotionally connected with my clients.

Having a private practice allows for freedom. This freedom flows over into the clients. Without reporting to an agency director and having practically no administrative mandates I have more time (emotional and specific) to invest with clients. I no longer have to rush a client out the door because a supervisor is demanding I attend a pointless staff meeting. I work with clients that are a good fit which means I can support them fully. This is far better than being assigned a client because the rotation indicated that it was my turn to have a new client.

To be honest, there are many good analyst and therapist out there. So it might be short sighted to say I am the best choice. What is important is my education, and MFT license. You are not going to find many with my wide and diverse training coupled with my extensive work experience. That might sound arrogant but there is some merit in a male analyst/therapist of color at the Ph.D. level. It is not so much the academia and the books read; but, this life experience of being different is highly valuable in client /therapist relationships. I often can be well suited for individuals and couples that are working through their social and romantic relationships. My life experience has granted me a skill of listening and connecting dots and patterns in a way that is supportive of others.
