So this past weekend I had a little West Coast Swing party at my new house and Matthew Mard came out to DJ…I wasn’t sure what to expect when he offered his services, but anyone who was there can tell you Matt flat out knew the assignment and crushed it! What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Reading the room; knowing when to go high energy and when to give people a rest. Engaging the crowd and tailoring song selection (and sometimes humor) to the audience.
What do you love most about your job?
As a musician, DJ, and a dancer, my motivation is always around what I can make others feel. As a DJ you have a lot of influence on the mood and energy of an event. I love seeing it in the faces of my guests when they are having a good time.
