It was great...I had the rice/peas, oxtail, with salad and plantains. The fry jack, fry beans, and stew chicken, and avocado, was all great. I highly recommend this place.

We have dined in since and it's great to have a place in the neighborhood where you can eat without disposableware. I'd consider ordering out more regularly, particularly lunch, but I'm almost sure that'll involve styrofoam boxes or plastic tubs (though recyclable).

As far as I know, there's only 2 Belizean places in the city of Chicago (at least according to a quick search on Yelp). One of them is this one, which is far north over by Howard, and the other one is Garifuna Flava on the Suoth Side. I'm a fan of both of them, although I love Garifuna Flava more. This one's good though, although the food took a little long to come out, and they were out of some things like oxtail when I stopped by around 12pm on a Saturday.I ended up getting the hash fish breakfast, which came with fry bread, beans, and maybe something else that I'm forgetting. Fry bread is a big piece of freshly made bread (I know it's fresh because it's the reason my order took so long) with a hint of sweetness, and is just a fun thing to eat. The hash fish was good, although the portions could've been bigger.I also got a conch fritter on the side, which really yummy, and tasted like the conch fritter I'd had at Garifuna Flava. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the mood for Belizean and am closer to here than Garifuna Flava.One last comment - I was looking at Redz's website, and they said they greet everyone with a smile. That's pretty false - the man who took my order and the ones after me looked pretty apathetic. Service isn't a huge factor in my Yelp reviews, as I care more about food, so the four stars for Redz is really food and vibe, but their service isn't always the warmest depending on who you get. This place is a true Belizean spot because they take 50-11 years to take your order and cook your food but on the upside, at least you know it's fresh! Even when I place my order via phone ahead of time and I come 30 minutes later it's still not ready (in their defense, they do warn you on the phone that it'll be "at least thirty minutes). As a Puerto Rican, I know that drill so it doesn't bother me plus don't really care but if you're in a rush go somewhere else cause they don't rush lol. It's worth the wait though. I've had the coconut stew snapper, peas and rice, rice and peas, plantain, potato salad, conch fritters, caramel cake. Everything was delicious, full of flavor, enough to feed two adults. I live a few blocks away and I've been there several times. Buy the bottle of pepper sauce to take home. I put that shit on everything. I love the food and all I go there all the Time ,But a few times I would order the small chicken with rice and they would only give me one piece of chicken which two pieces come with it, also if you ask they would give you how many hot sauces you want now lately I been going in they only give one I wish they would get the hot sauce thing together few people that work there always gave me extra hot sauce when I ask now another lady said only one hot sauce with one order please people get it together have a meeting or something Communicate.
