Relaxed atmosphere with exceptional drinks and food. Sometimes you have to wait for service when it appears to be slow, so if you can forego a booth/table, pull up a chair at the bar. We traveled north today to invite our hard-working, single son out to lunch. We basically spun the wheel of chance and picked The Red Onion Neighborhood Grill. We ordered some fried green tomatoes and onion rings to start; and wow, the beer-battered onion rings were really good. The green tomatoes were a little pink, but well prepared. As it was one of the first really cool days of the fall, we sat out on the patio and enjoyed some fresh Florida air. Honestly, I think it enhanced our appetizers, salads and sandwiches. The rueben was really good, the wings were tasty and the sweet Caroline was pretty tasty. The adult cheese was not a win, but in all fairness, the child who ordered it selected Brie cheese and it may not make for the best grilled cheese sandwich. The boss is one of the best owners I've ever known he runs his ship tight and kicks out the bad people. Travis is awesome professional and will always seek to serve you. The lead waitress is the best waitress that I have ever known she's fast accurate and professional and she has a very good attitude. This place was much better than expected for the small, unassuming building it was placed in. The food was very good for the price. I ordered the flank steak which came out well besides being a little too well done. The flavors were nice and it had an excellent atmosphere. Saw an ad for all you can eat catfish. Had been craving it for weeks. First time at Red Onion, we were seated and waited on by Wes. He was excellent! Catfish came out, let me tell ya, 4 filets, a mound of hot crispy fries, hush puppies, and tasty coleslaw. I couldn’t finish it! Was surprised we were able to bring home our leftovers. Great food, good atmosphere, a bit pricey for 3 adults and two kids, environment friendly having had bio degradeble paper straws and paper menus that weren't in a plastic sleeves, everything is handcrafted including the sodas, so don't expect to get a Sprite, Coca-Cola , or Pepsi, but their sodas are pretty good.
