My husband and I hired Pyramid Design Group to do a major renovation of a row house in Queens. It was a major project including 3 floors and the house hadn't been lived in for several years - the scope encompassed a new bathroom, all new electric, new kitchen, installation of central A/C, all new finishes, as well as assisting us with the interior design which as first time homeowners was a fantastic bonus! Richard’s design ideas were terrific – he really helped us make the most of every inch of our space in a small house. Richard worked with us throughout the whole process including design, permits, finding a contractor, construction management, and interior design. What’s your interior design process?
Successful Interior Design is a collaborative process between the designer and the client. Therefore I always like to meet the client in their home or office environment, to get to know them, their likes, desires, design dreams and budget. After the first or second meeting, we provide preliminary designs for your review. The process then proceeds according to the clients timetable.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
Successful Interior Design is more about the function of a space and the quality of the design, than it is about a particular style or period. In addition mixing of furniture and accessories from different design periods tends to create a more personal, original, and functional design.
What do you love most about your job?
What continues to make my job fun after 30 years, is the variety of our projects. Being a licensed Architect and a licensed Interior Designer, I am able to combine both sets of skills on many of our projects. It is exciting to be able to design new spaces or to transform existing spaces to better provide for our clients needs. On several of our projects we have been tasked with the job of sensitively altering historic properties to function within 21st century standards, while respecting the original character of the properties. On other projects we have designed custom furniture, lighting, rugs, etc. Whether we are designing cutting edge modern, historic renovation/restoration, or anything in between we strive to provide our clients with results that are functional, original and exciting.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started my business to guide clients through the design process. For most clients the design process can be overwhelming, and that is why an experienced design professional should be hired. It's very important that you choose a designer who will take the time to learn about your needs and lifestyle. For a designer like myself, with over 30 years of experience, the design and construction process is second nature. THEREFORE I TAKE THE TIME TO GUIDE MY CLIENTS THROUGH THE PROCESS, ANSWERING ALL QUESTIONS AND LISTENING TO A CLIENTS QUESTIONS AND IDEAS. I will work closely with you so that your interior will be be comfortable and "fit like a glove."
Why should our clients choose you?
We are a small boutique high end firm providing both Architectural and Interior Design Services. Our principal has degrees from The Rhode Island School of Design and The Cooper Union in both Fine Arts and Architecture. In addition he is a licensed Architect and a licensed Certified Interior Designer. Although it is unusual to hold both licenses, we feel this makes us uniquely qualified to design your project.
Pyramid Design Group Architecture & Interior Design has been in business for over 25 years, providing full design services for Residential and Commercial projects. We pride ourselves on Quality and attention to Detail. Much of our work is custom, including: custom lighting, furniture, wall finishes, etc. We strive to make each project unique, with rooms which are both exciting and comfortable.
In addition, we are respectful of our clients’ needs, and strive to find creative solutions within your design budget.
