We love Heather. She is always there to help us in any way she can. She has helped us calm our hyper active Blue Heeler, she has taught us out to be advocates for our dog, and she has even come to our vet visits to insure we were getting the right pain regimen for our dog. She is the best trainer and I know she truly loves animals. More...

Heather, founder of Project K-9, is seriously a life saver! I will recommend her to EVERYONE as long as she is in business. I came to Heather desperate to deal with my pup’s anxiety issues. I got Penny as a 2 yr old, discarded by a puppy mill. She’d had 2+ litters before I got her. Penny went through about a month transition period where she ate EVERYTHING: blinds, gloves, boots, furniture, everything. As time went on, we noticed she didn’t like strangers coming to the house. She became aggressive and more so if the individual showed any fear. We moved and she got worse. She’d attack the door if the doorbell rang. She’d lung and run the fence line as people walked by. We tried to keep her inside, but felt it was cruel. We tried spraying her with water. I’m not proud of it, but I smacked her butt on several occasions, meeting her aggression with more aggression. One day it all came to a head. She escaped the yard and bit 2 dogs who were walking by with their owner. I just thank the Lord she didn’t go after the man. Both dogs survived, one needed stitches. I was cited for having an aggressive animal. I contacted Heather immediately in a panic. Heather had worked with Penny & I about 10 months before and I knew she could help us teach Penny to make better decisions. When we met with Heather, we discovered that Penny was very emotionally in-tune with my feelings and I was the one who was making Penny anxious. Heather created a personalized training program for Penny AND me! Realizing I was a huge part of the issue was eye opening for me and I believe the most helpful. We followed Heather’s program and Penny improved almost overnight. We now have the correct tools and the knowledge to use them properly. Heather empowered us to be better parents. It’s been a little more than a year since we did Heather’s program and Penny is 100% a different dog. She’s able to ignore folks walking by, dogs walking by, and our very aggressive neighbor dog who barks and runs the fence line constantly. We’re still working on boundaries with our toddler, but we have the tools to do this now. Penny is so good with our toddler; it’s incredible. It is completely Heather’s tools that make it possible for us to have a safe environment for Penny and our toddler. Heather literally saved Penny’s life. When I was cited for an aggressive animal I was required to appear before a Judge and because of the immediate inception into Heather’s program and the letter she wrote about Penny’s progress, we were able to keep Penny from being euthanized. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE Heather and will support her business FOREVER. She is completely worth the 40-minute drive for us. Thank you Heather and Project K9!Chelsea Harvey More...

First, I cannot say enough good things about Heather and Project K9. I first met Heather after I needed help with pit bull/American bully mix I rescued who had severe dog aggression. Without writing a novel, Heather and her services, her knowledge of dogs and their behavior is unrivaled. She is AMAZING!! If you need a dog trainer who is invested in the outcome as much as you are, you have found her. In two years with me, I could not have my dog around other dogs without violence/aggression. In 2 days with Heather, she was in a yard with several other dogs, playing, happy and being a dog. Genuine, honest, caring, knowledgable, authentic, hard working and friend. These are all words that I would use to describe Heather and Project K9. If you would like a more in depth and detailed description of my experience with Heather and Project K9, please feel free to reach out to me anytime. YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER TRAINER...... We were referred to Heather to help us fix these issues, on top of aggression with other dogs. Let's just say... she surpasses our expectations to this day. He now respects both of us, doesn't pull us down the block on a leash, follows "commands," is always able to be off leash with her and other dogs and is now on her "green team." So since I felt in over my head with such a busy and intelligent dog I decided to board her through Project K9's 10 day puppy boarding. It was amazing how much she learned and was easier for me to handle. When we got her back she wast crate trained, virtually potty trained and had learned to tolerate being walked on a leash that she wouldn't even do for us! I am currently taking her and my daughter to a course called Puppy to Perfect. It is helping me more than anyone, since my daughter is a natural with her, and I'm slowly understanding how dogs think. Blu is my first puppy that I got all on my own. He's a very smart mix of Blue heeler and German Shepherd. Meaning he can be stubborn and needs a task to do at all times. So much personality.

I came here to work with Heather after his injury. He was unable to gain social skills as puppy...he was not great at playing with other dogs. He especially found puppies unpredictable, which made him weary.

Blu has changed so much! He walks great on the leash, has learned when to calm down, and has a place to go to when he is anxious. There are still things that we are working on but he has done wonders and has been playing with other dogs when he boards with Heather.

He is in great hands with people I know want him to succeed and see us succeed as owners. Project k9 is very affordable. Thanks!

Our family has always had dogs. Most of them are hunting dogs which are great but not really necessarily the best family dogs. They seem to always be looking for that next bird and not so much just wanting to hang out with the family. We had just recently lost our lab which was the closest thing to a family dog that we had owned. Our oldest daughter is special needs and was devastated by this loss and tried so hard to bond with the other hunting dogs. But it was not working. She had her heart set on large breed and soon fell in love the Newfoundland. We then purchased Molly, a Newfi and our adventures began. Molly was definitely friendly but a little too much and she needed to learn some manners. Heather was not only patient with Molly but also with our daughter as we did private sessions. Heather is the best! Molly is an awesome family dog and we are able to take her everywhere with us. Molly is great with kids and they all love her. Thanks Heather for all your help!!! More...

We have had many dogs in our families existence, none have we ever trained professionally. Our new puppy seemed to face some behavior challenges we could not handle. Just out of our league. For a moment, my husband suggested we find her a new home and I just could not do that with out putting in the effort she deserved and not the mention I have fallen head over heals in love with her! So I did my research and looked high and low for a E collar class, as it seems that was the training this dog required. Well, Heather taught us to do some amazing things. She gave me the confidence to do this and gave me the tools to do it. It takes effort, everyday I work with my dog. But now she is the most amazing dog I have ever owned. We walk off leash 2 miles everyday. It does not matter if other people or dogs come by my dog could care less. She is focused on me and what I tell her or direct her to do. At the end she gets a really rough game of Frisbee that she loves! I honestly think I am forever sold. I will always train any dog I get. I can not believe all these years I have missed out on this level of communication with my dog. We together are on a whole new level. Thank you Heather! Heather was able to point out that it was aggression but rather anxiety and lack of self confidence. Heather gave us the tools and vision to help my dog understand that we are in charge, and that she can relax.

Heather at Project K9 trained Missy for 10 days, a board and train. On day 1 my dog was shut down and refusing to acknowledge the training. By day 10 she was walking calmly on a leash, sitting still and waiting for permission to move. The training didn’t stop there. Heather sent me home with plenty of homework, house rules, and plenty of confidence. She has been a text or phone call away, giving advice and genuinely concerned for me and Missy. My dog went through basic training through another facility, but his separation anxiety, disrespectful behavior, bossy attitude, and over excitement didn't exhibit in that first training. I came to Project K9 desperate for relief from the stress of him bullying my other dog, trying to rule the house, and not following instructions the first time. It’s been a few weeks now, and he’s turned into a whole new dog! Through a few small changes made on how I handle him--a different training collar, using my body to keep him on place instead of my voice, not letting him sleep in my bed at night--has changed him. His relationship with my other dog is better--they play now instead of fight or avoid each other, he is more relaxed in his kennel, he’s stopped barking at me to get me to do what he wants me to do, and he goes on place when I ask him to the first time. The atmosphere in our house has also gotten better since I am less stressed about his behavior. It broke my heart and I was so sad I couldn't help her. She was also VERY over excited and just didn't know how to control her self. (She had no off button) I contacted Heather and she was the only one to truly cared about my situation with my dog. I had talked to many trainers before Heather and the second I said I didn't want to spend a few thousand dollars they literally stopped caring and ended our conversation. Heather took the time to hear my story and could see how badly I wanted to help my dog. I actually ended up doing the 4 week boarding program because she did an evaluation and decided this would really be the best option for her. I went into this not wanting to spend a lot of money but after getting to know her, seeing her reviews, and attending her pack walk, I decided to do whatever I had to do to. Thankfully she has a payment plan so thats the only way I was able to do the program. I am so happy I did and its honestly worth every penny! When I picked her up I honestly had no idea how she transformed my dog the way she did. She went from being whiny, scared, crazy, and uncontrollable to a very attentive, peaceful, and confident. I kept saying "Whos dog is this?" lol. I couldn't believe she was the same dog because everything about her had changed it was so amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend Heather to anyone lost and wanting to fix your relationship to your dog. I knew we had a lot of issues to work through and finally decided to go with her 4 week board and train program. It was exactly the reset button I needed for my dog! He has finally learned to manage his excitability and remain in a calm state of mind, and we can actually enjoy him again in our home. He is walking nicely on a leash, not pulling us down the sidewalk, and doesn't bust through the house knocking everything over in his path. He also used to have a very difficult time with people stopping by the house and he would have to be locked in a crate the whole time we had visitors but he would be barking the whole time. It was so embarrassing and stressful for us all, and a real problem. Since he's been back with us, I'm amazed at how well he handles visitors - even workers with noisy equipment - and stays nicely in his designated place, with no barking, and no pushing into people's space begging for attention. It is so nice to feel like he is not only a lot better behaved but also much happier too, being able to stay calm and peaceful. I love Heather's approach of bringing into balance all aspects of the dog's life, and I'm confident he was very well taken care of during his time with her.
