Prime 47 helped us to surprise my parents for their 45th wedding anniversary in ways I never expected! My parents felt that the entire restaurant knew of their anniversary because so many people wished them well, and they helped us to surprise them with gifts, flowers, and drinks. Amazing!

After a busy day of pre-Thanksgiving errands we decided to treat ourselves to dinner at Prime 47. My husband did not want to miss the game of one of his favorite basketball teams so we sat at the bar. Of course the game was on one of their well-positioned TV monitors. “Bob-Cat” was/were our bartenders. The service was attentive, quick, and polite. Our winter salad was delicious, and our entrees were very generous and perfectly prepared. The filet and twice-baked potato are my husband’s go-to choices. Unbeknownst to us, it was half-price bottle of wine night. Bob-Cat was thoughtful to bring that to our attention and we went home with a couple more glasses of lovely Pinot left in our bottle. Speaking of glasses, we forgot a pair of our reading glasses and as we were walking to our car, Bob-Cat caught up to us with the glasses, saving us from a return trip to retrieve them. Nice upscale restaurant. Good service, Good food. A bit Pricey though. I had a filet with scallops, brussel sprouts and asparagus. Everything was good but the food lacked sufficient flavor that would stand out and make it worthy of an excellent rating. I was there for a work event and found it to be fine but with some off notes. The service was very slow, partially as the result of the place being slammed with another large event. We made reservations to try the Devour Indy menu. After being seated promptly we waited 30 minutes to be seen by a server due to a mistake assigning tables. Definitely not a deal breaker, these things happen and it was remedied to our satisfaction by a visit from the manager. I had the Shrimp Scampi over Linguine (this is on the printed restaurant menu but not on the Devour Indy website menu). Fear not citizens, it was amazing!! However, this was partially countered by two failed attempts at a Bloody Mary. I gave up and after the second try. Though service was adequate, the quality felt a step below that of other similar establishments such as the Capital Grille. This would be a 3 star review if not for the amazing food and great customer service by the manager.UPDATE: We visited here again for the August 2019 Devour Indy. I have now added a star to this review. Of course the food was amazing however, the additional star is for the exceptional service we received from Brent (the next James Bond?) and Jahan(sp). The service was beyond reproach. More...

Food is better than chain steakhouses but not enough so to justify the added cost. White-coated waiters kept water glasses full and orders were all correct but service time was still rather slow. This may a great place for business meals or slow dinners with people you don't see often, but not for middle class family meals.
