We stopped off at Prescott Park because we were on the way home from vacation. My wife spent a lot of time in Portsmouth hen she went to college and knew this spot. We were looking for a picnic location and this was the perfect place. More...

Portsmouth Dog Walks is a fantastic service. Bob is the best of the best and our two dogs, Otter and Peaches LOVE him and his crew. Cari especially is truly fantastic. They really love our dogs and go above and beyond to make sure they are taken care of. We have tried several services over the years, in multiple states, and Bob and his team are hands down the best we have worked with. Whether they take the pups for a walk or stay overnight for a week, we trust them implicitly and they make going away much less stressful. Our two dogs are very sweet, but not the easiest dogs to watch. We have a large Pitbull/Staffordshire Terrier mix and mid-sized English Bull Terrier. They are both very stubborn, and unfortunately not great with other dogs, but Bob and his team handle them so well. They both have anxieties due to past trauma and Bob, Cari and team make them at ease. More...

I absolutely looooooove this park!  Having formerly lived a stone's throw from here on Mechanic Street, I would frequent this park on the daily back in the day.  It is a staple in Strawbery Banke and Portsmouth.  It is always so super clean, there are bathrooms available, there is street parking nearby, and it is actually quite large and has a lot to offer.  In the summertime they offer plays on their stage that are free to the public, as well as other shows for a small fee.  Several musicians play here too (Ani DiFranco, anyone?!), and people usually bring their chairs or blankets and camp out on the grass to watch the entertainment.  There is plenty of green space, but there are also walkways, and benches scattered throughout.  Toward the front end of the park, there is a wildflower garden with a fountain that operates during the summer months.  There is a vegetable and herb garden that is within the center of the park as well that members of the park can pay into if they wish to do so.  There is also a composting station toward the back end of the park too.  This park is very green friendly, no pun intended! My favorite part of the park though are the docks that jut out into the Piscataqua River.  There are three if I'm not mistaken, and there are benches on each for your sitting and viewing pleasure.  It is a very tranquil, relaxing, and quiet park off the beaten path right on the outskirts of the downtown area heading into Strawbery Banke.  River boats also depart from here, and you can buy your tickets on the Prescott Park website.  Overall, this is one of my favorite parks, not only for what it offers, but for what it symbolizes for me, which is pure happiness and nostalgia.  I come here every time I'm down town, and it really never gets old.  Keep up the good work, Portsmouth :) More...

Prescott Park is a beautiful location just outside of in-town Portsmouth. With Portsmouth's historic buildings and the hustle and bustle of people walking around, Prescott Park serves as a sort of sanctuary to escape the crowds of people. The park has a variety of walking paths, all with a view of the harbor. Not only that, but the park has a variety of gardens and fountains that instantly make you feel at ease. When I came on a Saturday afternoon, there were even wedding going on, and I can imagine how amazing the pictures will come out due to the cleanliness and beauty of the park. There was also a stage, which, after reading some other reviews, I found that they provide free plays in the summertime! My favorite park of the park are the wooden docks that jet out into the harbor, which gives fantastic views of the water, boats, the shipyard, etc. The docks are accentuated with black lampposts. These docks with the lampposts remind me of that scene in the movie La La Land where Ryan Gosling is singing "City of Stars" and approaches the married couple...ahhhh. I digress... Prescott Park really is a nicely maintained park with a lot to offer people during the nicer weather months. Definitely some place to check out when you are in the Portsmouth area! More...

We visited Prescott Park, located in the Market Square area, in Portsmouth, NH during our Northeast road trip last Labor Day (Sept 2016).  The park is nice, but a bit small, and not entirely worth it if you are in a hurry (we took a detour there and literally had to run back to make our lunch reservation in the Market Square area. The flower garden is quite lovely, with tons of bumble bees buzzing around and various types of colorful flowers.  Overall, it's a lovely little park, but I'm not sure if I'd stop by again next time if I was just passing through Portsmouth, NH as we did last year.  It's a bit out of the way (a 10-15 minute walk from the central Market Square area), and doesn't afford a view of the harbor, as I thought it would.  Nevertheless, it's still a lovely, well-kept park, and I am glad we visited. Great place to walk around especially during the summer when the garden area is full of flowers. They also have free plays in the summer at the park, the productions change every year so be sure to check out the shows and times beforehand. Its also fun to watch the drawbridge lower and raise and you can walk to Maine if you go over the bridge. Also Strawberry Banke is right across the street from Prescott Park, worth a visit if you want to learn more about Portsmouth History (will cost $ though). There is limited parking at Prescott Park so unless you're lucky you may have better luck parking in the parking garage downtown or at the free lot adjacent to citizens bank and then walking to the park. We currently have a an 8 month old red nose pit bull that is very hyper and to be honest just out of control. I have a small child in my house and decided that if we were to keep the dog we had to get a dog trainer in the home to correct some of his behaviors. My husband searched around on Craigslist and decided on Travis. When Travis arrived to our home he was very professional and prepared to immediately begin working. Within the first few minutes of Travis interacting with our dog we noticed a change in behavior. Clearly we were not interacting with him properly which is part of the problem. After the first lesson my dog was coming on command to his name and learning self control. After our second lesson he was learning not to bother my small child as he played nearby. We have 4 more lessons in our package but as of now we are definitely satisfied with the progress the dog is making. More...

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Portsmouth Dog Walks, LLC (PDW for short)!!!!! The owner consistently goes above and beyond in helping to make his customers' lives a little easier and their fur-babies' lives a little more enjoyable! !!! I recently relocated to the New England area for work, and currently commute from Portsmouth-NH to Newton-MA, Tuesday through Friday; this is the first time I have ever used, or even considered using a dog walking company--as I previously viewed it as more of a luxury than a necessity--boy was I wrong!!!! The service Bob and his team provide at PDW is far more than I could have ever hoped for or anticipated--it is worth every penny and then some (but rest assured their rates are reasonable, affordable, & comparable to their competitors fees, rates, etc.)!!!!!! Now when I come home after a long day spent working & commuting, my dog is significantly MUCH HAPPIER to see me, because while I was away, she enjoyed some special love and attention from the PDW team!!!!!
