What makes a great website?
A great website captures the viewers attention immediately. The home page design needs to excite the visitor and pull them deeper into the site in order to keep them engaged. A great website should be easy to navigate and answer most questions that a customer may have. A great website must have numerous ways for the visitor to contact the business or entity.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
1) What is your end goal with the website?
2) Do you plan on selling anything through the website?
3) Do you need a calendar of events on the website?
4) What colors are you looking for?
5) Which websites have you seen that appeal to you?
Describe your creative process.
If the client's business is in a field that we haven't designed for in the past, we research the industry to get a feel for it. Typically, we find competitor websites to see what kind of content they are using. We find websites that are top in the field for that particular industry to see what they are doing.
We exclusively use WordPress as our website platform. The first step is to find the appropriate theme. We never use "free" themes. It usually takes a couple of hours just to find a theme that we feel will be a good fit for the client.
We start by designing the home page first. Then, we typically design an inner page and the contact page before we reveal the site to the client.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
1) Current hosting account login credentials in order to back up the website on our system.
2) Basic content. We need something from the client in order to get started. The content inspires our creativity.
What do you love most about your job?
We love seeing our client's websites growing in Google ranking. This proves to us that we're doing the right thing for our clients.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The real estate crash in 2008 forced me to find another career. I'm a licensed real estate broker in the State of Florida and the crash destroyed my business. I have a background in computer science and, with the lack of jobs in Florida, I decided to use my computer skills and start a web design/develop company.
I thoroughly enjoy what I do and enjoy helping to make other small businesses thrive.
