Everything here was really good. The blue crab and corn bisque was awesome, the bread was really good. Not sure what the dressing was on the Caesar salad, but it was green and didn't taste like Caesar dressing. My mother in-law and I had the coffee and ancho Chile rub Ribeye. It was a great steak except for one thing. The Grand Marnier butter should be on a waffle or chicken and waffles or pancakes. It totally took away from the steak and the rub on the steak. It should come on the side for people to decide if they want it. That was the lowest point of my meal. Because it was a really good ribeye. The lobster Mac and cheese was amazing!!!!! More...

I would have gone with 3.5 stars but some things were really good so I chose 4 instead of 3. While visiting KC for the holidays we wanted to check out Union Station and a few people said to eat here. The ambiance is very nice with black fabric table linens and napkins. Our server, Cassandra, was very friendly and accommodating without being overbearing. And she kept my Coke glass full without my asking. She brought us a nice small round of warm sourdough bread shortly after we ordered, with butter, and it was nice and crusty on the outside and chewy inside. Our food arrived a few minutes later and the portions were pretty generous. Unfortunately this is where things failed to impress. I ordered my  burger medium and there was no pink, but it was still moist and tasted good. It was clearly hand formed as it crumbled a bit, but I would take that over a frozen patty any day. Both the tomato soup and grilled cheese came out barely warm, when both should be really hot. We sent them back and got replacements that were nicely done. Finally the pulled chicken sandwich special was a bit dry. So we definitely don't recommend that. We certainly enjoyed a fancy feeling meal for a not too fancy price. 3 entrees and 1 soda for $50. And we appreciate the remake of our meal without any fuss. More...

The food was delicious.  The service was outstanding.  I was there for business travel and two people suggested that spot for dinner.  It's an upscale and cozy spot for a special occasion.  I was celebrating my birthday while away on business.  The sourdough bread with butter was deliciously warm and crispy.  The pear salad was crunchy and delicious. The salmon was exceptional.  The only suggestion that I have is the wait for the food is long.  Great service and good food.  What more can you ask for! I would highly recommend this spot. More...

Went here for an anniversary dinner and had a great time. Started with the crab cakes and the artichoke fonduta. The fonduta had a great kick and I would definitely order again. They brought us some warm sourdough to finish the fonduta and the bread was incredible. I guess I'm a sucker for bread. Had a few bites of the walnut pear salad and that was good too. Then I got one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. The ribeye with the blue cheese cream. I always order medium rare, but our server recommended medium to render all the marbling so I followed the recommendation. It was definitely not overcooked, perfectly juicy and very red/pink inside. Paired with the garlic whipped potatoes, this was a winner. If I came back, I'd go for the fonduta, sourdough and steak again. More...

The food is very good and it has a lovely atmosphere. I had the tasting menu and I enjoyed trying a variety of things. All were good. I also had some drinks - the drink menu has a lot of variety and everything is great. My only disappointment was the price. The service and food are good but I feel like its a bit overpriced for what it is. For this kind of price I expect a bit more out of it. There was nothing bad about the service but I think 15 dollars for a glass of wine, for example, is a bit much. I would love to go back here - it was a nice experience - but I can have a similar experience at other places for half the price. If you do go here try not to order drinks - they are wonderful but they cost quite a bit. You'll end up spending 200 dollars or more before you know it. More...

Do you love wine, good food and superior service? Pierpont's is the place to be for a personal or professional dining experience. This upscale restaurant is tucked into the corner of the main hall of Kansas City's Union Station. From the outside, one cannot fully grasp the style and ornate beauty that awaits inside. My first visit was as a business meeting. We advanced scheduled for a private dining in the lower level in their wine cellar. The overall experience was top-notch!We started with a private room decorated with dark woods and train station memorabilia, surrounded by glass cases of wine. Our private dining included a personally paired wine and food menu with four courses. The food was full of flavor and dynamically paired with wines. Each course included a personal introduction to the wine by their sommelier. He gave us a background on the region from which each wine came from and unique facts about how that wine was processed or developed. A hidden gem ideal for special occasions. We were fortunate not to have any dietary restrictions and this allowed the sous chef the freedom to develop the menu as they wanted. At the time we booked this event, we were able to set a price point per head.Four courses included a dessert and we definitely left full and happy. This experience is recommend this for parties of 10 or fewer. I had one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed sitting at the bar at Pierpont's. They had a fixed price tasting menu of "small" plates which would have been considered to be normal size elsewhere. For something like $45 I had spectacular mushroom risotto, a ceasar salad and a 5 oz filet mignon. The filet was "like butter" - flavorful, tender and cooked perfectly.  The filet was a perfect size after a fair amount of food served previously- and came with some asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both delicious.  Plus - a small loaf of crusty and chewy bread. They had another option that could have included dessert, but honestly I could not have imagined eating that too. If you want a really memorable meal without spending a fortune, you cannot go wrong with this place. I hope I come back to Kansas City so I can go there again. I eat out a lot, so a place has to be really noteworthy to make me consider returning. But Pierpont's is just that. Plus, the bartender was friendly and sufficiently attentive. More...
