After arriving in Baltimore we could not wait to find a restaurant that had a high rating for Maryland crab cakes. At first we checked out recommended places in Fells Point only to find out there would be a 1 hr to 1 1/2 hour wait so after a little research we lucked out and discovered basically a small place a few blocks back in off of the main drag waterfront. At first there were only a few folks dinning and wondered if we had made a mistake. Could my research have failed me? From the outside it just looked like a hole in the wall but we walked in anyway and was probably one of the best meals my wife and I had in quite some time. I had the double crab cakes 1 smoked and 1 traditional, corn chowder, salad... My wife had the soft shell crab which was amazing and do not leave without trying the most luscious bread pudding we have ever had! Do not and I repeat do not judge the book by its cover. More...

The smoked crab cakes are absolutely transcendent, I would agree with some of the other reviews that perhaps the casual appearance of the interior could use an update. The smoked crab cakes are the star here so if you want a sleek interior and a focus not on food just go somewhere else. More...

Visiting in Baltimore for the weekend. Researched local restaurants to eat at. Found Pierpoint and were intrigued by its story and the Chef/Owners Cilinary History. It did not disappoint! Located in Fells Point just up off the water in a charming row house. Small and intimate and charming with a bar/sitting area. Maybe 40 seats in the restaurant. The menu is modest but contains variety and the food is really really really good! We met up with friends from Baltimore we hadn’t seen in a long time and they didn’t know about Pierpoint but they will be back. More...

Pier Point is an anomaly. Tiny place with a whale sized reputation and history. This is the only true place to crab cake. We suggest going half'n'half . One smoked cake and one original recipe. They are the only place to smoke their crab, and it tastes out of this world. More...

I went to cooking classes here and was blown away. Chef is knowledgeable and the number of recipes and quantity of food is more than I’ve seen anywhere else. Really great service, really good food! Small space in a Fell's Point row house. The space was half full, and smokey from the kitchen in the very back. The decor is a bit funky, maybe in need of freshening up. The only server in the place was also the bartender/hostess/busboy - she was great and attentive. We got the Balto Box appetizer as we really wanted to try the smoked crab cake - delicious! I got the Shrimp and Grits and my dining partner got the Diver Scallops. Both were very flavorful and delicious!!! We were filled up by the time dessert rolled around and had to pass - but we'll be back! More...

I really enjoyed the food. However, they needed additional help to make the evening flow better. We spent half our evening waiting at various times for service. Food was good but the crabcakes were charred on top, and the presentation lacking. (Sloppy. Crabcakes broken.)It was a great one time experience. But for the money, we deserved better service. Total bill for four with appetizer, entree, and bar beverages, $250+. More...

As my guest wrote "So glad we could connect for dinner. Should I end up in prison on death row I definitely would like Maryland crab cakes , corn chowder and watermelon lime sorbet as my last meal. Oh , and a glass of wine. I will ask the guards to call you for the details." Lovely quiet place to enjoy friends and food. More...

Went to this place last night after seeing it on the Food Channel a few months ago. This place is known for their crab cakes and I understand why. They have an amazing take on crab cakes in that they smoke them. I had the platter which offered a choice of smoked or regular crab cakes. In short, they both were great. Lump crab pan fried--like my mother used to make--and she made awesome crab cakes!Sides were terrific as well. Brussels sprout cole slaw--really unique--and fresh cut fries--perfect. My son just moved in down the street so we will be back soon. Owner (Nancy) is super friendly as well as the chef and wait staff. If you crave great crab cakes--go here! More...

As a frequent guest at Pierpoint - I must take issue with anyone who would post a review about food they have placed in a trunk and then driven with food in the trunk for 2-3 hours. Sorry. Must disagree. The food at Pierpoint is always fresh and an all around great dining experience. Visit Pierpoint for yourself. And soon. It’s a great experience with Chef at your table making sure you are enjoying your meal and making it special. More...

I have often had crab cakes at Pierpoint and they are wonderful. I am shocked that anyone who put crab cakes in their trunk for a several hour drive would even consider writing a poor review! I wouldn’t eat any crab cakes put in my car for the 1/2 hour drive to my house. All the food at Pierpoint is always fresh and excellent! Don’t believe one ridiculous review - go and find out for yourself! More...

My daughter Kaitlin was married on 6/9/18. The venues we visited required that you use their approved caterers. Everything in addition to food (linens, silverware, alcohol, servers, wedding cake etc) is a la carte.
It can get expensive quickly.
I called Nancy at Pierpoint. She told me “I am a one stop shop you just need a location to have it.” She was true to her word. I also appreciated that we told her what we wanted to spend, and she came in below our budget. If you are looking for a stress free journey in wedding planning and a magnificent day...look no further!
