BEWARE!!! Future Newlyweds….Please read and heed my advice! After our initial contact with Paul, and seeing his incredibly impressive resume, we were extremely excited to sign him on as our wedding photographer.
The #1 vendor that I had hoped to find the best match with was my photographer. Paul was very kind, personable, and easy to talk to from the beginning. He was flexible and reassuring when it came to understanding the layout of our venue and certain details we were looking to capture. Paul showed up ahead of time on our wedding day and got right to work. Paul made a few excellent recommendations to help make our initial first look/family picture process efficient and thorough. We relinquished control to Paul with a list of pictures we wanted him to be sure to take throughout the night. We had explained this was a loose list. We did not include every single detail because we assumed certain shots would be a no brainer (such as our entry table and favors). Paul did not come up with any unique ideas for pictures the entire day. Hotel staff and even my husband and I were making suggestions for poses, but Paul’s style was quick and standard. Once we received our pictures, the disaster began. To say that everything every step of the way was done haphazardly is an understatement.
First, Paul was several days late in sending the pictures. The contract clearly stated we would have them in 7 days and Paul confirmed this with me at the end of the wedding night. When I inquired at the 14 day mark, I still had to wait several days longer. He told me of a family emergency he was dealing with, which we were initially completely understanding of. However, the delays in getting us the original and edited pictures over the next few weeks continued without any updates. It soon became clear that Paul did not have any type of back-up plan for his business when there are emergencies. Upon receiving the first batch of pictures, they were out of order and we immediately noticed many very important ones that we took were completely missing. Besides this, there were stains on the tablecloth in our bouquet pictures, the pictures taken of my dress were on an awful angle with an ugly background, and several pictures had a very obvious glaring flash in them which turned the beautiful Madison Hotel conservatory with gorgeous ambiance into a room that looked like the power was out. Our pictures were so dark and many taken from too far away to enjoy them. When we asked Paul to edit these and add lighting, he said they were too dark to fix. We wonder why they were even taken in the first place if they were going to be too dark to use? Earlier in the day, there were staged pictures taken where my sister-in-law was hiding behind me to hold my small niece in position and you can actually see her limbs sticking out from behind me!! When I pointed this out to Paul to be edited, he edited out her limb but actually drew a stripe of white paint down the other side of me so that my dress looked like a box. It was one of the most laughable edits we have ever viewed. During the same time of day, somehow half of the French doors were open behind where we were taking pictures in the conservatory entrance so you can see people walking in the hallway in the background. There was zero attention to detail for that to have happened. We had asked for a picture of each of our 11 tables and he didn’t even take one. He had suggested ahead of time that he would like to take a group picture on the dance floor of all the wedding guests, we loved the idea, then he never took it and blamed the DJ for not making the announcement. Paul took a total of 5 pictures during our entire cocktail hour!! 5!! We paid him for that entire hour and got 5 pictures which tells us just one thing, he simply was not present during most of that time. We have limited memories from that entire piece of the evening which is so upsetting.
After our first complaint, Paul took several more days and said he was re-editing all of our pictures, along with including the missing ones. We received another batch of pictures which did include the missing ones, but continued to have many of the same problems listed above. On top of that, they were all out of order again and it was becoming impossible to sort through them. We had to do SO MUCH extra work to make the few pictures we liked (maybe 75 out of 800) something worth sharing. It was a true NIGHTMARE!! So many pictures I would have loved to get with family and friends at the reception and did not because I assumed an experienced photographer would follow my lead as our guests were taking their own cell phone pictures with me, or recognize when there was a Kodak moment to be seized. But not Paul. I did not think I had to micromanage a professional while doing his job and am devastated now looking back that I didn’t do so. There are some dancing pictures, but most are far away and there are almost no candids taken of guests together or with us. The ones we received from our guests’ cell phones are all much more personal and easily capture all of the uplighting colors of our fairy tale room. The majority of all the professional pictures looked like an amateur took them. There was no evidence of a photographer that has any natural talent in this to think those were acceptable pictures to send without some photoshopping. One of the edits even actually somehow copied and pasted our cake topper onto our best man’s head!!
Finally, we asked Paul for part of our money back to compensate for the ridiculous amount of extra work we had to do on the side, several delays in getting the pictures, and missing a LOT of key moments. Paul agreed to our request and refunded us half of the total of what we paid. Of course, this did not help our emotional suffering about it at all and we will now have to spend that money to hire someone else to do the proper edits.
I deeply regret not knowing more about what to research when trying to find a good photographer and would pay thousands to have a redo in this department to get the pictures I always dreamed of. I felt I did my due diligence as always, but still wound up forever heartbroken in the end. My advice (besides to avoid Paul at any cost) would be to pay close attention to reviews, see if you can get a place that will send 2 photographers because it’s impossible for one person to get everything, try to see examples of their work at your venue, schedule a few phone calls to review specifics as the day approaches, and always remember to be cautious of someone charging a much lower price than other vendors. I have posted pictures on here that support the above examples I mentioned and show the poor quality of the work and edits. What do you love most about your job?
This is a difficult question. I love so many aspects of what I do. Every client and job enables me to listen to what the client wants in regards to their photography. I love and enjoy working with people and capturing those special photos that will tell a story for a lifetime.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I always had a desire as an entrepreneur and a photographer to have my own business. I always believed that running my own business I could develop a better and more personal relationship with all my clients.

Photography for me is a passion this passion and love comes across in my photography. I believe that any photo should tell a story and this is always my main goal. I have been doing photography for over 25 years. I started actually doing weddings in my early career and my journey lead me to spending over 15 years shooting live concerts, red carpet events and major award shows. Over the years I did both and some years back decided that I wanted to return back to my roots doing weddings, portraits, parties and events. My prices are extremely reasonable and my personality is outgoing, fun and making people feel comfortable..
