Great place! Nice and hipster ambience and the food was good I got the breakfast burrito and michelada and was well over satisfied with both. The michi was tasty and perfectly carbonated while the burrito was flavorful and crunchy. Everything was great and the staff were super friendly, attentitve and amazing. I would come back again. Only thing is we we're a party of 7 and their policy was parties of 8 or more is an automatic 18% tip. They told us because we reserved for 8 people that they added the charge which is silly because that's not what their menu states. It wasn't until when my friend mentioned it that I realize the word "potatoes" (in Spanish) is literally in their name! Pappas Artisanal is nestled the corner of downtown La Verne, sharing the building with several other tenants. The restaurant isn't the easiest to find since you don't see large signage of the restaurant. There are also 90 minute street parking, or 3 hours if you're willing to walk a bit. University of La Verne also has a parking lot where you can park for free for unlimited hours during weekends. We had to wait until at least half our party is here before we can get seated, since it is a rather small restaurant, reasonable. Do note that they have a different menu during weekday and weekends, which was slightly disappointing since I eyed an item on the weekday menu, but came on a Sunday! I ended up ordering the Dad's Hash, and my friends the Chicken & French Toast. The food came relatively quickly and everything seemed fresh! The portions were massive and none of us finished our food. I really liked their corn beef and caramelized onions on the dad's hash. Their chicken & french toast seemed great too; interestingly they used giant pieces of boneless chicken for their chicken & french toast. The food was definitely filling and on the heavier side. For the price you pay, the quality and quantity is really not bad! They even give you the option to add $15 to turn up and get bottomless mimosas! Every year, I wait to go to the LA County Fair just so i'm able to go to Pappas Artisanal (located by the barn area, where the chickens and rabbits are at) so I can get a wood fire pizza! I've never had a wood fire pizza before Pappas Artisanal! Honestly, I didn't even know that the wood fire pizza spot, where my bf and I go to every year, is called Pappas Artisanal!!!I am actually pretty upset at myself for not knowing and I am a local!!!When we came here to try out the brunch, I wondered why the logo was a wood fire... like how is that related to Pappas Artisanal?As I looked into it further, I then realized that other people have posted about the LA County Fair wood fire pizza, and that's when it hit me! It's a local favorite!I initially came here to try the brunch out. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles, and the American Breakfast. My American breakfast was okay. I thought it was a pretty dish but it was like any ordinary breakfast that you can make at home. The Chicken and Waffles, however, was pretty darn good to me! It was very salty at first, without the syrup, but I like salty and sweet so the syrup made it all that much better! The wait time to have our order taken and to wait for our food was tremendously long. I don't ever expect to wait past 15 minutes for our food to arrive, and we sat there for over 45 minutes. Had no idea what to expect. Never heard of this place until today. I was in the area getting my Phone fixed and the place just happens to be in the same building as this restaurant. I decided to give it a try.My waiter Chris was extremely friendly and made it very easy for me to decide but simply talking about what they offered as well as what he recommended.I got the special for today which was Grilled cheese & tomato Bisque, I also added carnitas to my sandwich.It was absolutely delicious ! We have been coming here for a few years now and we're sad to hear that they had switched owners a year or so back. The menu has changed some as well as the ambience, but the OG chef from before (who also used to make the best breakfast items at Grizzby's in Claremont) is still here. He gets down in the kitchen. One item I get every time I get here is the toast and jam and as simple as it sounds the jam here is the shit! Worth the $3 and the portions are large enough to share, plus they're okay with you bringing in coffee or drinks from the coffee shop next door. Today the food was mediocre (sorry guys), but the potatoes were over cooked, the omelette was runny and the cheese wasn't melted. The waitstaff, well they could improve for sure. This is a really great spot for brunch & dinner; their food is always freshly made and hits the spot! The crowd is mostly college students from University of La Verne just across the way; very chill & relaxed. The staff is really nice and helpful, huge plus! I ordered the Shrimp & Grits //$17; Chef Arthur's southern styled grits cooked with cheddar cheese, topped with cajun shrimp, two poached eggs, garnished with scallions. I've never really had grits but the description of this dish had everything I love so I went for it and I was not disappointed. It was so creamy and full of flavor. I'll be absolutely honest and say that I forced myself to like this place because the food always looks so amazing. I'm writing this review after my third trip here and want to be as honest as possible. The food here is very good. The first trip, we had the fried chicken and waffles for brunch with the bottomless mimosas and a breakfast pizza. It was absolutely amazing, though the service was a bit slow.Our second trip was a bit of a cluster @$#!, if we're being honest. We put our names down on a list to be seated and the host was very annoyed with people being there and waiting. While standing at the front, we heard a table have multiple complaints, so we decided to just leave and not eat there. I'm chalking it up to an off day overall.Today was our third trip and it was starting off slow service wise, but turned around very quickly. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered the chilaquiles; the chilaquiles were legit just chips with grilled chicken and toppings tossed on top, not the norm. Or at least what I expected. I was probably a pain and sent them back to switch it would for the delicious breakfast burrito with their pork belly. Order that, it's so good. And our server Chelsea was too kind to adjust the bill for us. My husband has been dying to go to this place and we have heard rave reviews. The place has a very cool relax vibe. Our host/waiter was super friendly and nice ! We ordered the adult Mac and cheese and that was very cheesy and had omg crunchiest and bacon on top. I ordered the Thursday special burger of the day the southwestern burger ... it had corn, pepper jack cheese, it had onion rings and avocados, bacon and two patties... it was amazing ! I came in for brunch on Sunday and this place is awsome. Me and my friends had the bottomless mimosas, 15$ for all you can drink and I had the special of the day. The dads skillet. It was damn good. The service was great. We had refills even before we asked and the atmosphere was good, a nice mix of people just enjoying the place. The one thing I dont get is how all these yelpers are saying bad things about how its gone down hill since the new owners took over. They changed the menu and the themes. Yes. But at one point the old owners sold just pizza and tacos. So I will take any of the new owners menu over the previous one any time. Overall, this place is awsome. Loved the vibe there. Overall the food was fantastic and I love that it is a very modern la type of feel. My only complaint was the service was not the best. The girl helping us didn't seem very helpful. My friend said her pancakes tasted like they had bacon in there and mentioned it to the waitress. I love pappas artisanal!! The food is amazing and it's one of my favorite brunch places near Claremont! My favorite dishes for brunch are the omelet, breakfast pizza, and fried chicken and French toast. The omelet is super tasty and packed with ingredients. The potatoes are also really tasty! Breakfast pizza is amazing and hits the spot. It's super loaded and an awesome item to share with the table. Fried chicken and French toast is a classic! They had a special for a while that was a fried chicken skillet and that was one of the best things I've ever had for brunch. Definitely check out the specials board. One of the only bad things is how busy pappas gets on the weekends. Wait can be up to and over an hour if you go at peak times on the weekends, so definitely make sure you get there early if you don't like to wait. Staff is friendly but a little slow. The atmosphere is really nice. It is a great place to grab lunch or brunch with a couple of your closest friends. The wait time was about 15 minutes but it was interesting because there were open tables. But expected to have a small wait time. The food was very flavorful and rich. I got the big breakfast burrito and it was well cook and had the crispiness from the pork and zesty flavor from the guacamole. My friend's eggs in "The American" dish were a little runny but the waitress saw my friend's dissatisfaction and ask to take it back and run it again. This was my first time being here and honestly it was really good. It's a small cute restaurant that has good quality food.
