OurBus

I work in Chicago but live in West Lafayette, two hour drive. My Bus is my life saver! Compared with other public transportation options, my bus is much much better. It is on time, clean, comfy, and the drivers are always nice and friendly. And the tickets are refundable, what a thoughtful policy! Having my bus made my commute much more doable and pleasant. I am a happy commuter now. :) And the price is very good! --in fact, if it is a bit higher, it is still very good as the service it provides is totally worth it.  My only suggestion is that I wish that my bus can offer multiple rides per day between Lafayette, IN and Chicago. e.g., on week days, it would be helpful to have a late one leaving Chicago, so that I and some others who need to spend the day in Chicago have a ride to go home. Also, I wish that 9 AM bus from Lafayette can be half an hour earlier, e.g., leaving around 8 or 8:30 in Lafayette and arrive in Chicago by 9:30 AM, so that I can catch 10 AM meetings.  Another suggestion is that the wifi password can be  a bit simpler. ;) More...

Our daughter took the bus from NYC to Syracuse University and we were very pleased.  The snowstorm had started but we were told that the bus was still on track to leave. The bus took off on time, the driver checked in each name and the bus looked very comfortable.  When I called customer service number a couple of hours later (when my daughter fell asleep and didn't answer texts), the rep sent me a link to follow the bus all the way to Syracuse on my phone - plus waited on the line to make sure I activated the link.  That route goes directly to the campus (vs a regional bus station), which is great.  We will use this service again for sure. My experience with Ourbus has been excellent! It's a shame that anger and frustration bring people to leave reviews more often then satisfaction. My route was Cincinnati to Chicago 11/27/19- our driver Earl was courteous, helpful and extremely punctual. Despite there only being a handful of passengers, his customer service did not waiver. Also, it was extremely windy out and the driver handled the turbulence well. I would absolutely recommend Ourbus to a friend.Only suggestion to this specific bus carrier--ditch the back of seat organizers. Saw some bad reviews here but I can't say I had the same experience. I was actually pleasantly surprised the bus experience went smoothly. Easy to find the bus on Madison between 26 and 27. Hop on and find your way to comfy cloth  seats with good leg room from the next row. O and before you hop on, you can grab complimentary water (I grabbed two because I was thirsty). I've used several bus companies such as Peter Pan, Greyhound, Megabus, and OurBus by far is the best company. The bus is clean, it provides water, and the best part is the service. When there was an accident on the freeway that delayed the bus, ourbus refunded the credits back to my account to use for another ride. I was one of the many who requested the Ithaca to Philadelphia route, and OurBus was very perceptive to the requests and started this route. This personally made my life so much easier when it came to weekly/fortnightly commuting between Ithaca and Philadelphia--a route where there are not many options otherwise. The buses are clean and quite comfortable and their service is remarkable. Sometimes, the buses are delayed (mostly on the Philadelphia-Ithaca route) but that's mostly because of traffic (while coming from DC), and they are very prompt in sending an email if there is a delay. Update: thank you for the company for reaching out to me and explaining the problem and offering a better alternative. This bus explained to me what happened to our bus because most of the rider didn't know what was going on and now I understand accidents happens. Whatever the cause may be, they did the right thing to fix it before it became a problem so hats off to them. Looking forward to my next adventure with them.This bus company has lost all my credibility. I took this bus from dc to nyc and had no problems, left at 9 on the dot and arrived at 1. However on the way back, the bus was suppose to leave nyc around 5 until the bus had at problem. Guess what time the bus actually left nyc? 8:45 that's almost a 4 hour difference, that is ridiculous come on now I can understand 1-2 hours but 4, that is completely unnecessary. I had to book another bus back to DC because my phone was going to die and then I would have no way of getting on the bus. Our bus is great! My family has been using their services since April 2019 from Pennsylvania to New York and we always have a pleasant experience. The drivers are so courteous, cheerful and helpful and the same goes for their customer service. Whether it's rescheduling a trip or asking for any kind of help...they always take care of us. I took a round-trip from New York to Syracuse, and for a long distance bus route, it was the best I'd taken.The one route was only slightly delayed on account of traffic, and the return route into the city went quicker than actually scheduled (pretty sure this is the first time that's actually happened on a bus for me). The amenities were fine- the seats were comfortable, the power outlets worked and wi-fi worked fine. The bus driver, Vern was excellent: he was funny and friendly, and when I encountered a bit of a problem with my ticket, he helped me sort it out without too much hassle. When I later spoke to their customer service regarding the ticketing issue, the representative was friendly and helpful in sorting it out.I absolutely plan on using OurBus again in the future. With wanting to plan a Labor Day weekend getaway to Chicago - not wanting to drive and the Hoosier State Amtrak no longer available decided to look into OurBus service. A local news article had indicated this bus service was replacing the train. With good pricing and several daily trips between Chicago, Lafayette and Indy it became the best choice that was out there!After booking our hotel went to the OurBus web site. Booking a trip was easy. Unfortunately the early evening return trip filled up so thought our plans were scrubbed. Then they offered a third evening trip and our plans became real- still getting us home at a decent time. Found the busses were top notch, new and clean. I always have a great experience with OurBus. Today, the bus was just a few minutes late, and Bharat from the customer service team got in touch with me and the other passengers to let us know. The experience was an excellent value. Took OurBus round trip from Buffalo to NYC for a weekend. It was half the price of a Greyhound ticket, and the service was on par. The main difference is you are boarding at the side of the street rather than the Port Authority. To be prepared for any trip, it's always a good idea to bring a sweater and pack a lunch. Bus on the way down was on time. Friendly driver. Completely full, so don't plan on getting your own row, but hey, that's how they can keep it so cheap! Free water was helpful. Bathroom started out spotless, but over the course of the trip was abused a bit by fellow passengers. We had one rest stop between Rochester and Syracuse at a 7/11. It didn't really have the capacity for that many customers at once. The trip went smoothly, and since we had no passengers getting on/off at Binghamton, the driver made the decision to go straight on to New York. Traffic was crappy heading into the Lincoln Tunnel, so we ended up about 40 mins delayed. The trip back to Buffalo was about 15 mins late picking us up. Probably also traffic related, it was the beginning of rush hour. Everyone was waiting in a neat line on the sidewalk, but that quickly devolved into a crowd as soon as the bus arrived. It was still civil, but not exactly first-come first-served. Traffic was pretty slow leaving the city, but the rest of the trip was smooth, with two breaks (one somewhere in PA with several fast food options, one at a rest stop outside of Rochester). Ended up arriving at UB North about 50 minutes late.The AC was on pretty high, but this really is for the best. It generally keeps people calmer, and I'd much rather add another layer than be stuck next to someone who's sweating to death. Just be prepared, and bring a sweater.To OurBus as a company - you have a brilliant strategy. No infrastructure, minimal staff, amazing value to the customer. Love it. A couple thoughts to make it even better.Thought A - Consider being clearer about what customers will need to present to the driver. Faster ticket verification would significantly speed up boarding time. There are several issues that seem to be at play here 1: the actual ticket email comes from a "mailadmin" address instead of and OurBus address. 2: The ticket email gets buried under several schedule change, PR, and Marketing emails between the date of purchase and the date of travel. 3: Many of the customers travelling on this route (Buffalo-New York City) have limited proficiency with the English language. 4: The ticket showed a "Reference Code" in bold letters at the top of the email, but it seems that what the driver is actually looking for is the Passenger Name which is in fine print at the bottom of the email. Outside, in full sunlight, scrolling through each passenger's phone can be frustrating (for the driver who had to do this for customers several times), and surprisingly time-consuming. If the Passenger Name is what the driver needs to verify, consider moving it to the top of the ticket.Thought B - For major like New York, where many passengers will be boarding at once, what about someone to help organize the boarding line? They would really only need to be there for about an hour before boarding, and could pre check passenger's tickets and/or maybe help load luggage while the driver gets everyone onboard. I'm all about keeping costs to a minimum, but it took a while to load everyone at the beginning, and we could have probably saved about 35 mins. More...

Today I almost had a heart attack after I was late for my bus to NY for 1 minute. I saw it is leaving. I was waving with my hands but the bus didn't stop. I was mad on driver who didn't wait at least a couple minutes delayed passengers with tickets , I was also mad on myself and I was sad that I have to spend more money  and time to get my goal accomplished. I tried to catch that bus on Uber but heavy traffic on Rockville Pike wasn't on my side. It was White Flint, 1 pm bus. But after that two good things happened:Fortunately, I was able to buy tickets from Union Station on 2.30 pm Ourbus and a lady from OurBus Customer Service with a wonderful name Ekta was  sympathized to my situation and credited all my tickets price to my OurBus wallet which I can use for buying my future tickets with them during next 5 years. I have never taken the bus from the DC area to NYC, even though I have been making the trip for a very long time. This bus is quick and easy. Reclining sears and WiFi for watching movies. The convenience of the Georgia Avenue FREE commuter lot near Norbeck is excellent. The bus made one stop in Columbia going up to NY. The drop off was great on Park Avenue around 26th. Coming back was supposed to be nonstop, but there was some mix up with a group of people and the driver let them off in White Marsh. I felt badly for them, but the bus should keep the exact schedule that is displayed on the app or website. We also departed about 15 minutes late out of NYC. Overall good bus and very easy! More...

I'm literally writing this review as I'm riding with this bus for the first time. I'm wowed by the cleanliness, comfort, and overall friendly vibe of this bus and the staff. I used to take Greyhound, out of ease rather than actual comfort, and having been burned by horrible customer service and broken down buses I decided to look for an alternative. Thankfully I found OurBus and the routes perfect for when I need to go to NY to MD. I'm often traveling back to see family in the DC/MD/VA area and have taken a good share of buses. I thought the only "good" buses serviced the DC and VA area like Vamoose and Tripper. Love them both, but OurBus is really the best bus I've ever been on. Can't wait to book my next trip. More...

OurBus has incredible customer service and bus service to now an expanded network of cities. I have been on many other intercity bus carriers have had many issues from unclean buses, buses never showing up but not with OurBus. The bus drivers are very friendly and service is reliable. Awesome customer service!!! I lost my iPad on the bus from NYC to Ithaca last Friday. I contacted the customer service online and they were very responsive even at Saturday night! Sahil and the team helped me contact the Lost and Found right away. I was almost hopeless for 2 days but got back from them that they found my iPad on Monday. Thanks god!!! The team are amazing!!!
