I've been working out with Devin at optimize for over a year and I would highly recommend him to anyone.  He interviews you to understand your needs and then tailors programs to help you reach your goals.  His methods are evidenced based and include long term sustainability.  He is not trying to sell you a quick fix or false expectations.  During each session he is attentive to form and any injuries and adjusts the program as needed.  In my time with him he has helped me exceed my initial goals and challenges me every single session. I started training in Devin two years ago and I haven't been able to find anyone else that takes the time to personalize a program that works best for me. Devin is great to work with, he is very attentive to your goals and he tailors your workouts to your ability. He's always encouraging and welcoming, and is always willing to change things up to meet your needs. I took his 6 week kettlebell class and cannot recommend it highly enough. I have trained in many different gyms, large chain gyms as well as smaller private gyms, and I can honestly say that Devin is the most knowledgeable and dedicated trainer I have ever had. Devin worked with me to help me come back from an injury that left me unable to work out for months. I have been seeing Devin for personal training both on his premises as well as at another gym following a plan he has created specifically for me. I have been feeling stronger than ever and, more importantly to me, feel confident in performing certain weight lifting maneuvers. In the past, I have hurt myself with squats, etc. Devin took the time to evaluate me, change my form and exercises, and I find myself doing more than I have in the past without worry of hurting my body.

Devin is a very skilled and knowledgeable professional. One of the days I realized this was when a different personal trainer told me he wished Devin had never started his own business because Devin was one of the best personal trainers he's ever had.

I referred other friends to Devin and they have all been as equally as pleased. If you are new to training and want to know the best way to get started, Devin's your man. If you are more advanced as an athlete and want to take it to the next notch, Devin's your man.

So what do you do when your about to turn 5o and your already falling apart!?! You carefully fix what you can and see if you can find a very patient person to help you on your journey back to fitness and a healthier life.
I found Devin in March of this year (2016) and went to meet with him about how I could transition from Physical Therapy (Rotator Cuff injury) to a fitness program that was actually tailored to my recovery and rebuilding. I wanted someone who would take their time but most of all help me to find the love of fitness again. No easy task.
It's been 8 months and I don't know what to say....I couldn't be happier! I started off slow and only committed to 3 months, then it turned into another 3 months. Now, I'm all in! I am happy and healthier, I am stronger and I am motivated!
I have so much respect for Devin and his knowledge, his professionalism and the atmosphere he has created in his facility. Small group training with a focus on you!
Whatever you do, if you read this.....call Devin. Have a success session.

Been working with Devin for the past few months and I could not be happier! I enjoy coming to the gym and the work outs fit my needs. Going to Devin was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I went to him with back and hip pain that had persisted despite multiple rounds of physical therapy. His approach is the first one that ever really worked. He got me stronger and pain-free, and he helped me improve my posture,  stamina, and mobility. Devin started with a customized program based on a thorough evaluation. As we worked, he continually adjusted my workout to build on my progress and help me overcome problem areas. I always felt both challenged and safe, and I learned some physiology basics along the way. I provide guidance, accountability, and motivation to my clients. That way they can focus on getting better - and they just leave the planning to me. They trust that I have their best interests in mind.

Three things make our clients successful:

1 - Master the fundamentals. This means get stronger at the classic exercises - squats, deadlifts, presses, rows, pullups, etc.

2 - Get better every workout. This means adding weight to the bar, doing extra sets or extra reps, or running just a little further. Just get 1% better every workout! The same goes for your nutrition. Be more disciplined each week, and you'll reach your goal in time.

3 - Be consistent! You can have the perfect workout plan and the perfect meal plan - but if you only follow it 50% of the time, you'll never succeed. Aim for 80% consistency.

I love helping people feel better about themselves. As my clients get stronger and more fit, they feel better and they become more confident. That's how strength training and fitness makes me feel, and it's a real treat to help my clients feel the same way.

Honestly, I didn't like how most personal trainers ran their businesses or treated their clients. The workout plans weren't at the level of expertise that I've come to expect. Their clients weren't trained safely - I saw way too many injuries, especially in Crossfit gyms. And I thought that most personal trainers, even the ones without experience or a proper education, charged too much money. It was unfair and unprofessional.

So I opened Optimize Fitness. My prices are more fair, my clients get great results, and the gym is very safe.

I feel like I'm the best option in Franklin, and in the surrounding area. Otherwise I wouldn't want to be in business.
