Oliver is smart (Cornell grad), dedicated and loves his work. He has been teaching and tutoring for the past several years and clearly cares about his students. One, in particular, could barely do simple addition or multiplication when he started working with Oliver. Soon he was doing fractions and algebra, and has gone from a small special needs class to mainstream high school. Oliver is also mature, responsible and reliable. What do you love most about your job?
I love contributing to and fostering intellectual, social, and emotional growth in students of all ages. Teaching is a very rewarding form of service, and it keeps me both humble and proud at the same time that I get to put my education to good use and for the benefit of open minds.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired by my connection with one student in particular who couldn't multiply 2x2 when we first started. Today, he gets A's in algebra and molecular biology. That transformation truly inspired me to stay on the path of education and contribute to people in need of structure and stimulation.
Why should our clients choose you?
My clients should pick me because I'm likable and relatable and know how to reach students. I try to cultivate mentorship as well as friendship with each person I work with. At the end of the day, it is extremely gratifying to know parents trust me with the development of their children.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I can work both in person and remotely. I have a writing pad which enables me to illustrate problems on a virtual whiteboard. I use mostly Zoom to teach online. I am also available to work in homes in the San Fernando Valley region.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have been vaccinated and boosted four times. I also wear a mask when entering clients' homes.
