Taking my dog Penny to One Smart Dog was the best thing I could have done for her. Penny suffers from fear aggression and separation anxiety. After explaining Penny's situation and meeting with her, Dawn, the owner of One Smart Dog created a personalized program to help her. Through hard work several home visits Penny is now able to successfully meet “strangers” and be relaxed when she needs to be alone. This has allowed Penny to have a high quality of life. So impressed by the owner. Incredibly talented and dedicated trainer who goes above and beyond to her clients and their 2 legged owners! Our experience with One Smart Dog thus far has been nothing but positive. We are currently taking Basic Manners with our 2 year old rescue dog. We have learned so much so far and feel extremely supported. The weekly homework and handouts are extremely helpful. We enrolled in the Puppy Pre K class after seeing such great reviews for One Smart Dog. Our Labradoodle, Lily, has learned so much in the time she has been there. We've taken three classes now with two of our pups. Dawn is an excellent and extremely knowledgable instructor! Puppy Pre K has been great for our newest, but I have to say the Reactive Dog class we took last year has been magic for calming down our overly barky dog in public settings. One Smart Dog was recommended to me by my veterinarian. As a first time dog owner, I knew I would need professional guidance to raise my corgi pup into the companion dog I desire. The facility itself is clean, cheerful, and is conveniently located with plenty of parking. Puppy Pre-K alone has helped tremendously in getting Elvis to follow basic commands and learn his manners, and Elvis looks forward to coming to class every week. Kim and Dawn have both been more than willing to take the extra time to answer all of my questions related to specific issues I've encountered, from cat chasing to nipping. I already signed up for next level training about halfway through Pre-K, and intend to keep taking as many classes as possible, both for my own education as well as having a "job" for my herding dog to do. Our dog Milo started at One Smart Dog for the Puppy Pre-K class when he was just 14 weeks old. He is now in the Family Dog Basic class and is already signed up for the next level of class in four weeks. We just had to let everyone know about our experience today. We decided to take Milo out to Memorial Park in Shelton while "Shelton Day" was in full swing across the street. There were a ton of people, cars, little kids, every distraction possible. We decided to not only have some play time but to also use the opportunity to work on some obedience training. We focused on Stay, Come, and Look. We were amazed and pleasantly surprised how well he did. He never broke focus and never went after any of the hundreds of distractions surrounding him. For his stays we were able to get way beyond his 30ft lead without him moving an inch! We are constantly getting compliments for others about how well behaved our puppy is and no one ever believes that he is just 5 months old! Dawn is great with the dogs and presents all the information in a way that is easy to understand for all. We cannot wait to see how much more Milo learns and grows at One Smart Dog. We highly recommend Dawn and One Smart Dog for anyone that is looking to improve their dogs skills as well as creating a stronger bond.Thank you SO MUCH! More...
