make sure u have gas in the tank, but I thought it was great! 1st time going and also Thought 25 donation per car and Got 3D glasses so cool! was reasonable but they should look into fixing some potholes but the roads getting to it were full of them too. we drove 3hr and stayed off site. did want to snowboard but wasn't open yet More...

I read so many negative reviews before coming that I was honestly a little scared when we arrived! Check-in was fast, and the staff were SO nice and helpful. We arrived at 4:30PM and our room was ready for us without issue. The lodge is gorgeous. The grounds are breathtaking. It’s really something special to experience at Christmastime! Our room was beautiful. Was it spotless? No. There was some wear and tear in some areas. But the parts of the room I look for to be clean were clean. The view was gorgeous, the fireplace was a nice addition, and the bathroom (huge tub and separate walk-in shower) was luxurious. The Festival of Lights was awesome. I’ve read lots of reviews of people saying it was ‘boring’ or ‘not that great,’ but... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ To each their own, I guess. I must be five years old at heart because I thought it was the best thing ever and gasped just as much as my kid did. I didn’t want it to end! The game room in the lodge (with hot cocoa and cookies waiting for us afterwards) was so nice! Bright, inviting, and filled with tons of board games and families having fun. The indoor pool was nice but could probably use extra cleanings during heavy traffic like the holiday season. On-site dining options were limited but pretty good, all things considered. All in all, a great experience so far and one I’m grateful to have had. More...

Just had our yearly trip to the cabins and Wow, the cabins have been upgraded and we loved it!! The dishwasher and gas fireplace is greatly appreciated. So much better use of space with the new furniture arrangement. Thank you for the upgrades! We will most certainly be back. More...

What a great way to kick off the holiday season! Decor is beautiful and ready for Christmas Lights are pretty and fun but don’t expect too much! It’s just fun, maybe 20 min. The lodge is busy but nice. There was a band playing a mix of Christmas music and 60/70’s. Hot cocoa and cookies and lots of kids having fun at the Saturday night reception. The pool was busy and the game room ok. The hotel/lodge room was large and beautiful and clean! Walls are typical hotel thin. You will hear your neighbors. We were in the value rooms. But didn’t feel like it was cheap. Hallways are long and so beautiful. Breakfast buffet was GREAT! And you’re in a beautiful space. It was a fun overnight stay even though it rained but the rain turned to snow overnight and we woke to snow! There are a few (3-4) shops nearby and they are quaint. The mansion was fun to see all decorated for the season. More...

Oglebay is always fun and exciting. Love the family atmosphere, the beauty and the peacefulness too. They also have some new events that are great. Don’t forget to swing near the candy shop and grab a bag of the kettle corn outside in the parking area from a vendor “EKERNALLY YOUR POPCORN”.....sooo many flavors and they are so delicious. More...

We had a wonderful stay . My husband and I were on our honeymoon in NYC and we needed a relaxing night before heading home. So we stayed at Oglebay resort for a nice spa night. The spa was absolutely wonderful. Our room was perfect, I loved the fireplace and bed. Breakfast buffet was awesome except for the line to get an omelette. Probably need a second chef. We loved the pool area, hot tub and sauna and game room. Everything needed to have fun in one area. We can’t wait to stay again for our anniversary. We also had a great dinner there . More...

Since the shop management has been outsourced, the products , especially the park logo clothing and other commemorative items is poor. Very shocked and disappointed in the inventory, as well as the overall stock. I am not alone in this concern. Thank you. More...

Took a group to Oglebay on a beautiful summer day for putt putt golf. Web site said open until 8. Got there at 5:30, and it was closed. A sign read, go to the boat house for mini golf. Walked to the boat house but it was closed. Most of the park looked closed. Very disappointed since they advertised being open on the site, and then directed us to walk to another location for nothing. We left. Here was our alternative, the next day. Took a ride the next day to Nemacollin. Greeted at the gate, enjoyed the awesome paintings and sculptures, cigar in the cigar lounge, zoo animals, and mini golf Free! The attendant was out but the little shop was open and the putters, balls, and score cards were put out for you. We had a great day of it, then took in some history at Ft Necessity, hiked to the massive cross at Jummonville, and stayed at the historic Summit Inn. The dinner that evening at the Summit Inn was the best I have ever had. I love Oglebay when they have their special events, but resort status is yet to be earned. More...

I always enjoy my stay here. Love it at Christmas time and this year was my first summer visit and I’ll be back next summer. I didn’t get to enjoy the whole sundae funday tho, after the pool putting things in the trunk slammed my thumb in the trunk ended up at Wheeling ER with stitches and a broken thumb. The front desk called my cell phone while I was at the er to see if we needed anything and if we were still staying the night. That was very thoughtful of them. More...

The overall experience at Oglebay has always been nothing short of amazing. We have been going every summer for the last 7 years and have always had such a fun time! A person visiting Oglebay can choose from so many things to do, making their trip either as active as they want or as low key as they want. The gardens are beautiful, the food is delicious, the staff is friendly and the grounds are breathtaking. We have zero plans of stopping our yearly tradition. More...

WE celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on this trip. While we have enjoyed other golf resort venues, this one, by far we enjoyed the most because we liked the rustic setting, variety of activities and mostly the clean and respectful atmosphere. We took advantage of spa services with Karen-a good massage therapist, the daily summer activities around the resort (miniature golf, Good Zoo), and took lessons with Jacob on the segway. We had more fun... and Jacob is a very astute instructor and could anticipate our level of understanding and processing before we could. We tried all 3 restaurants, and jumped in the indoor pool/hot tub Saturday night. The package was great.... hopefully my husband will repair soon from his knee surgery and we will be able to come back and hit the links! More...

I recommend parts of Oglebay. The park grounds are beautiful. I really enjoy the trails. The restaurants are so so. The Ihlenfeld Dining Room is terribly overpriced. Our meals were disappointing for the price we paid. $$$ The Brew and BBQ is ok but their brew selection is a joke. If you have to dine there, I recommend Glassworks. If you are from out of town, I suggest spending the day enjoying the park but then head off the hill for food. There are numerous restaurants around Wheeling that are worth a visit. More...
