Off Leash K9 Training

We bought the basic obedience package for our new dog Theo. We met Liz for a series of 4 lessons to learn: come, sit, place, heel and down commands. The first lesson was challenging, Theo wouldn't sit for anything. But Liz gave us ways to work on this command by sending us tips, and a personalized how-to video. She also gave us other tips and tricks to begin building a good relationship with our new boy. At the end of the 4th lesson Theo was heeling like a champ, and performing the down command outside with relative ease. Through this training Theo had built up so much confidence and it was night and day from the dog we adopted. Liz was always available for questions and quick to help. We're so happy with the results! I am very pleased with the training. Bob and Chase were very personable and knowledgeable. Instructions were clear. Kirsten did a fabulous job training our puppy, Tanner.  Jumping on people, chewing on people, biting holes in clothes, jumping up on counters, defiance barking and going crazy due to excitement in public were the main issues we were experiencing.  We tried and tried to train using treats, praise and toys; but Tanner would only respond long enough to get the reward.  Kirsten corrected all the behavior issues I have listed and more, yet Tanner is still a fun and loveable puppy!  When we picked Tanner up after 2 weeks, it was obvious that Tanner absolutely loved Kirsten.  I highly recommend the K9 Off Leash training and Kirsten. Such a great experience with my dogs trainer Sara. She kept me informed daily during his bored and stay,never skipped a day. He’s been home with us since the 26th of November and he has been nothing but amazing, he’s still a puppy so he slips haha but once corrected he’s back at it she’s also been great and keeping in touch and responding if I have any questions since he retuned home. Our 10 month old German Shepard Heidelberg’s went to Chantel for the two week board and train. I’m so happy with how she came back! Chantel is great! I thought it was a bit pricy but decided I had to do something. Absolutely worth the money spent! I highly recommend making this investment in your dog. Amazing experience. Robert was awesome and kept us well informed during Cinder’s two week stay. Although we missed her so much, Robert sent us pictures and videos to help ease our sad hearts. We are so pleased with Cinders behavior and all that she learned. We are also so happy that she is still the same sweet and loving dog as before- My kids were fearful that she would stop being so loving after the training. She is just better behaved and more fun to take on walks now. No more barking at people or other animals on our walks. Best decision we ever made!!!!! More...

Incredible experience with Justin and his staff. In just 4 sessions of basic obedience training (and hours of practice at home) my 6 month old Giant Schnoodle is a completely different dog. The tools we received from our training sessions have had an immediate and positive impact on our bond. He is now very obedient and enjoys the freedom of being off-leash more. So going to try to make a long story short. (Wish me luck) I am a cat person that decided to be a dog person. My husband, daughter and I decided to get a sweet Silver Lab this past summer. Little did I know what I was getting in to. For as much as we loved Piper, she just was not the perfect pup we thought she would be. She bit all of us, ate everything in sight, came after us, went crazy when we took her out and saw other dogs and she went nuts!!! I could not take my puppy for a walk around the block because she was out of control. So, as I am a fixer I went searching for a solution. We wanted Piper to be a part of our family and I Will tell you, the moment I spoke to Dirk, I literally knew that there was a light at the end of the tunnel! Dirk answered all of my questions with honesty and integrity. He made me feel so comfortable and confident in my decision to send Piper to his 2 week training. I couldn’t imagine sending my cute Piper away for 2 weeks, but I also couldn’t imagine dealing with her antics much longer. True story, I considered finding a better home for Piper was possibly a better option for her! But through lots of prayer and lots of searching, we found Off Leash K9 training!!!! Dirk and team literally changed our lives with our puppy! When we first spoke, I was so worried about Piper being mad at us for sending her away. Dirk ensured me that we would be so much closer once P was trained, and oh boy was he ever right! I loved and looked forward to his daily updates of how much progress my Piper was making! He was transforming my dog into the dream dog my family imagined. It was a long 2 weeks missing Piper, but I would not change a minute of it! Denise had Riley for 2 weeks board and train. Riley is special as - we did not nor will we ever expect her off-leash. Riley is afraid of life. Every noise, smell, sight. Denise helped with her confidence. I picked her up today and could not believe how different she is. Not cured, and I don't think she ever will be. But she has learned her commands and tries her best to hold them. Right now her roadblock is me. I am training to "give" the commands in a manner she will listen to and obey. It will probably take me longer to learn than it did for her. Denise treated Riley with love and respect. She did an amazing job. Riley is listening to me better already. Off Leash K9 with Christine and Dirk is by far the best choice I ever made with my dog. My dog was dog aggressive, to the point where she was dragging me down hills and in to streets to get to other dogs. She would bark, growl, lunge, and make every attempt in her power to attack other dogs. It was impossible to take her anywhere or even take her for a walk. I signed up for the 8 week dog aggression program and had Dirk as my trainer. The results are simply amazing. My dog is now the best behaved dog anywhere we go and I feel confident taking her anywhere. She now can walk right past dogs (only 2 feet away, I’m not kidding!) and honestly pays them little to no attention. Dirk worked with us at our own pace and helped my dog gain confidence and understand dogs are not scary. If you are considering using Off Leash K9, do it. If you’re looking at the price and thinking it’s high, as someone who has completed the training I would have paid three times more if I knew I could get these results. You must work with your dog at home and invest your time for these great results, but if you can do that your life will be forever changed for the better. More...

I have a four-year-old German Shepherd, that was very aggressive toward people and other animals. I could not take him anywhere in public, because it was just such of an ordeal trying to get him to behave. He also had a bite history and we were very worried about that. He spent two weeks with the Off Leash K9 trainer Adam. After the two weeks I saw such a difference in his behavior. He was a much calmer and relaxed dog. He did not pay attention to others and there was no growling or barking. He was much more obedient and respectful to everyone. This is way beyond my expectations of him. I am so pleased with the trainer Adam. He has done such an amazing job, and I could not have asked for a better trainer. He is such a kind person and I could tell my dog loved him. I feel now that I can take him out in public for walks, without him being aggressive. Which that is such a difference and takes a lot of stress off. I would recommend Off Leash K9 Training 100%. Everyone is so nice and always took the time out to talk with me. The trainer Adam always kept me updated with videos and pictures as he was training, also talked with me when I needed something. I don’t have enough good things to say about this place. Saying my dog was a handful was a handful is quite the understatement. When we got him he was a returned adoption from the shelter because of behavior issues. We did as much as we could on our own, but after two years we reached a point where we just needed help. We shelled out thousands on a fence for our back yard just so we wouldn’t have to walk him anymore because he pulled so bad. He once jumped out of my car and made my husband chase him across a parking lot because I went into the store. He once jumped out of my car and ran to go jump on (play, but still definitely not good) some poor unsuspecting dog at a local running trail. We finally bit the bullet and paid for the two week board and train and my only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner. Justin gave us daily updates and the first video of my dog following basic commands I actually cried I was so happy. He treated my dog as lovingly as I would, and they gave us a framed picture of him along with a sweet note about how much he and his family enjoyed having Cas when we picked him up. I can’t recommend OLK9 enough! Kelsey worked with my lab mix for 2 weeks, and he’s still the same dog with much more confidence and restraint. We’re able to go for walks without me having to worry about getting pulled off my feet, and he knows exactly what I’m asking of him. It’s just as much about training the owner as it is about training the dog, and I’m so impressed with the care they provided for Brody while he was with them. Highly recommend Off Leash K9 Training Board and Train program. Highly, highly recommend Sam as a trainer! I am amazed at how calm my dog can be and just how much easier life has become now that he focuses on me and not everything around him. It was scary to send my 9 month old puppy off to live with a stranger, but with daily videos and constant communication I never worried once. We picked up our 11 month old Labrador, Samson,  4 days ago from his board and train session with Liz.  He is "the new and improved" Samson. He is well behaved in the house; is easy to walk on a leash (off leash too); and most importantly, he doesn't jump on strangers or us any more. Liz taught him how to greet politely.    Liz listened to all the areas we were having problems with Samson; and she worked on every one of them. She kept in touch with me everyday to let me know how Samson was doing, what they worked on that day, and what his trouble areas seemed to be.  She sent me videos of their training sessions and even pictures of him bonding with her dogs.  Samson just loves her dogs, Riot and Krueger.  Liz had us come out and work with Samson and instructed us on how to handle different situations.  She helped fine tune our interactions with Samson.  She even asked to keep him a couple of extra days to work on some of his weak areas.  She wanted him at his best before he came home to us.  Today she contacted me to check on how Samson was doing.  Reminding me that she is always here to help us if we encounter any rough spots or if we need refreshers of how to keep his obedience up.     We are thoroughly impressed with Liz's skills for training dogs and her true concern that we are satisfied with the progress Samson made.  I would definitely recommend Liz to my friends and family who need assistance with their dogs. Hands down the best dog training in Columbus! I can not even begin to express how impressed I am with Off Leash K9 and specifically with our dogs trainer, Kayley. Our dog, Colt, went through the 2 week board and train program. He is a deaf Rhodesian ridgeback. When we dropped him off with Kayley, he was absolutely out of control. Would not respond to any commands, would eat anything in sight, would jump on people, pulled so hard on the leash that essentially nobody but myself could even walk him, etc.. I was skeptical that there was any help for my boy. However, when we picked him up, he was a completely different dog(in a good way). Responded to all his commands, no longer jumps on people or eats things, and can even now be walked off leash! Non of these things were even remotely possible before the training. Kayley did such an incredible job, and even gave us a tailored approach to training since he is deaf! And she worked with us on multiple occasions, sending us plenty of pictures and updates, and even adjusting pickup dates/times to better fit our schedule! So much stress has been relieved from our household, and my dog and I now have an absolutely incredible relationship. I assure you, if you think your dog may be a lost cause, he/she isn’t! I can not say enough about this training. Michelle and her husband Dylan are absolutely amazing!! We took my daughters Golden-doodle to them because we were at our wits end with his behavior and not being able to make a difference in his training, and these two performed miracles with every aspect of his behavior. They keep in close contact with you the entire time they have your dog and their dedication and knowledge is incredible. I waited to write this review to see how our Golden retained the obedience commands and behaved over a period of time. First, I will say using Off leash is an investment in your dog.  Its not cheap but very much worth the money.  Our life is much easier and full of enjoyment with our pup.  Kayley trained our girl in late June, when she turned 6 months old.  Prior to the training, Jamison was a typical Golden puppy.  She consistently jumped, counter surfed, begged allot, opened doors, biting window blinds, chewed allot,  inconsistent with commands and was TERRIBLE at walking.  Kayley was awesome!Fast forward nearly 4 months after training.  Essentially all the negative behavior is still gone. No counter surfing, jumping, door opening, chewing things she shouldn't, (but socks, don't think that will ever change) nor messing with window blinds, and now lays at our feet at dinner without begging for food.  She seemed to come back to us calmer and wanting to please us.  Walking her now is an enjoyable bonding activity.  We have also started running with her a bit and her heel command is excellent.  Obedience commands need to be consistently worked and reinforced to ensure the dog retains the training, but Jamison loves to work through them and its great bonding for us. No review could do justice to how amazing both Dirk and Christine are. Both of my dogs did the two week board and train, one of them being human aggressive. My dogs walk next to me nicely no matter the distractions, they come when called, they’re just the most well mannered pups you’ve seen, since their two weeks with off leash k9. I can walk my human aggressive pup down a busy isle in the store and my shy one has gained so much confidence. They both are happier dogs since their training and I am a happier pet owner! I was nervous dropping them off with “strangers” but I received updates everyday with pictures and videos :) if you’re reading these reviews wondering if it’s worth it, IT IS. Best money ever spent. My dog Dozer is so good now after his two weeks with Chantel and offleash training. I can take him on walks and he stays by side does not matter if we see other dogs or people along the way. We can go to the dog frriendly resturants now and he just lays by my feet so nice to beable to out and about with him. 6 month old GSD did excellent during his first day of basic obedience training, and has continued to learn more and more only on day 2 of the entire training process. I sent my one yr old standard poodle to Off Leash K9 for the two week board and train program. Off Leash definitely did a great job with her. I can really say that we are living the off leash life I've always dreamed of. Not a day goes by that I am not glad I didn't take her to OLK9. It should be noted that my dog did get sick and lost weight while being there. OLK9 informed me that she had runny eyes and that it was being taken care, which was true. However, when I took to the vet once she got back, they told me she had an upper respiratory infection and had lost four pounds. The vet reported that some dogs get stressed at board and train programs, which I'm guessing my poodle did. I just wish that was informed about that. Overall, great experience and would do it again. Excellent program, I highly recommend.  I did the basic obedience package.  I was hesitant at first.  I did not want to set $600 on fire for dog training, but two of my sisters had used off leash with glowing reviews.  So I brought in my 1 year old lab mainly because she would not come when called, and embarrassed me with my family's other dogs over Xmas.Scheduling takes a while cause the place is busy.  But the training was great.  They teach the dog a command first and then u have to practice on your own at home.  I did 3 weeks between lessons for the first 3.  Then a six month gap for the last one.  She was so good at that point I forgot I still had another lesson.Make no mistake though, there is effort required on your part to complete the training.  It's not an automatic fix.  I can't speak to the board and train but I imagine it's similar.  The owner has to do their part too.  I may sign up for some advanced lessons as well.Overall I have high praise for all trainers.  My lab is a family dog now that behaves appropriately.Ben S More...

I took my GSD, Zeke to Off Leash because he was nervous and defensive of strangers (to him) even in our own home. I was uneasy to have friends over because I wasn’t sure how he would behave so he ended up outside or kenneled while we have visitors. That would agitate him more and it was not good for us or him. I took him to the 2 week Board and Train and he came back a new dog with confidence and the training and control to reduce his anxiety and follow commands so that we can now have people over, I can take him for walks and to public places without fear of what might happen. The home visit after was also a great test of how he does when the trainers and I are both there and he has to listen to me rather than them.
