What makes a great website?
Web sites that answer the questions that visitors will ask without having to hunt and peck for information are ideal, especially in the services business. E-commerce sites need to accept the payments the visitors want to use, not just PayPal. They need credit card, Amazon Pay, etc. Obviously mobile responsiveness is key but that's no longer an addition. Its where you start.
Great photos and live chat help engage customers' emotions.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Business goals need to be aligned to the project so what are your business goals? What is your timeline? Have you considered the business process that accompanies your campaign? Who will follow up on leads? Have you automated e-mails? What's the shipping process for e-commerce?
Its more than just a web site. Its a lead generation tool for your business. If you don't integrate your web site with your business, leads will die in a salesman's e-mail inbox.
What do you love most about your job?
I work with a great team, in a great location. We enable small and medium businesses to have access to the same resources as the big guys. Its great when a site launches and clients realize they are now on a level playing field with their biggest competitor from an Internet marketing perspective.
Due to the mobile device, businesses now have every opportunity to get their brand in front of their clients for a portion of the price even 10 years ago.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We've been doing this as a side job since college. After years away from it, we had a few business owners express their frustration with their web presence. It was a natural fit to jump back in and leverage our business experience and our technical skill set to launch NYWC.
