I love Newks, the food is always delicious, but when I came in tonight, there were FOUR employees within a foot of the register, carrying on, and did not acknowledge me until after I stood there a solid minute staring at them. Alright, so there's a couple of nationwide chains that do the soup/salad/sandwich thing. The aptly named Newk's blows them away. Thick sliced roast beef, check. Creole brown mustard, superbly flavorful without overpowering the main ingredient. Crispy, fluffy and buttery breads. Soups...the Baked Potato Soup beats the national chains hands down, but the real star of the show; Crawfish Pepperjack Soup. A spot on homage to the flavorful crustacean enhanced by the creamy kick of pepperjack cheese. Wow, just wow! If you have a Newk's near you, what are you waiting for. I have currently been sitting in the drive through for 30 minutes... if it takes you long enough to leave a terrible review while sitting as a FAST FOOD restaurant then something is wrong. I'll keep writing just to show you how long I've been waiting. We have driven from Hot Springs after camping where we had a wonderful time! We camped on top of a mountain and built a fire and had a great overlook view. I wont spoil the location though to keep it at minimal traffic. Woke up at 7, packed up camp, and we put by 8! 8 o clock. That's pretty good for us. We had just enough gas to make it back to Texarkana, although I may run out while sitting waiting on my food. We dropped off my mother and... o they made it out with the food! and a gift card for $15 so that's enough to pay for my gas I used while sitting here. More...
