One of the reasons I picked Neil is that he has been in the Raleigh photography business for 10+ years - I had several recommendations for him from friends! He knows the venues, planners, etc. extremely well. For a bride that was more hands off this was extremely helpful and really took some pressure off. One of the most important things for us surrounding our wedding was to find a fantastic photographer. Neil absolutely blew us away with our wedding day photos as well as my bridal portraits. Neil had to play ringleader to a large bridal party and has the gift of being able to be stern/direct but also incredibly friendly and likeable. Friends and family have been blown away by the shots that he was able to capture and we absolutely love all of our photos. As we headed back to our venue after offsite photos, Neil talked me into one last and unplanned stop at the original Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store and that photo is one of my favorites! I'm glad I listened to him and felt that I could trust him from day one. I would hire Neil all over again and would recommend him to anyone. Beth was our mail photographer. She was in touch a couple weeks before the wedding to make sure she understood exactly what we wanted! My husband and I treasure our photos and will do so for a long time. He was able to capture moments we forgot about or didn't notice until seeing them during our proof session. Neil Boyd Photography was excellent on ALL fronts. Unfortunately less than one week prior my main photographer (Neil) had a family emergency and he had to be away for my wedding. His associates stepped in. I was a bundle of nerves, but was put to ease when Rebecca and KJ offered their sympathy to me! Although it wasn't needed (God is not on our schedule - which was a great reminder before the biggest day of my life!) The girls were wonderful with my crazy family, stayed extra time and captured some awesome pictures!

My favorites are those that get everyone laughing - or mid twirl on the dance floor - and of course of my little cousins mid bounce and laughter at the same time. The next best thing was going to view the pictures. Although it took longer than I wanted it to - it was right on time per my contract. We got to view them on a slide show and laughed and cried in one sitting. The group created a slideshow with the appropriate music - it was and still is perfect to watch. I loved them all and can't wait for prints!

One recommendation that I would have to someone choosing Neil Boyd is having a good idea of what pictures you want. For example, I wish I would have chosen more unique poses for my bridal party, rather than those in a straight line. Also - I wish I would have requested individual photos with my girls.

Neil and his second shooter Kristie were wonderful for our wedding. They were on time and very professional. They kept things running smoothly from start to finish. We appreciated the direction they gave during portraits both before and after the wedding and at the reception. We were able to finish pictures after the wedding in about 30-35 minutes. They listened to the specific shots we wanted and planned accordingly. While we have yet to receive the photos (they said about 4 weeks turnaround time), we are confident they will come out looking amazing! We would recommend Neil and his team. More...

I decided very early on that my wedding portraits and photographs was one of the most important aspects of my day and not to be compromised -- and I made the best decision by choosing Neil Boyd photography. Both Neil and Kristie were so excellent to work with, and I have been nothing but pleased with everything from our consultation and portraits to my wedding day and photo presentation. They were very well organized with a timeline for the day that worked well with other vendors, and took charge to make seamless and stress-free transitions between photos and the events of our wedding. They were patient, as some things didn't flow as well as planned, and captured great candid moments that will allow me to re-live the surge of emotion experienced between my groom, family, and friends. I'm not being handed a photo album, but instead a storybook to pass through the years.

Although this is a 5-star system, I would add a 6th star if possible! I can not say enough good things about Neil Boyd Photography. My wife and I were married in November and we planned the wedding relatively quickly. When we began looking for photographers we did not really know where to begin. We obviously checked out Google and yelp but there were a lot of great reviews for photographers out there. I was lucky that I actually got to meet Neil and Kristie through my work, as they do the professional photography for the firm where I work. After meeting them and seeing how easy they made that whole process, my wife and I went and met with Neil to discuss the wedding. We saw a slideshow of some of his previous weddings and were blown away. The quality was amazing and he had such an interesting take on all the different weddings he had photographed. Not only were the pictures incredible, but Neil is such an easy guy to talk with. He put absolutely zero pressure on us, let us know what the pricing options were and what we could expect. We were not super interested in having an engagement shoot or bridal shoot and there was never any pressure to tack on additional expenses. After talking with a few different people, we were easily the most impressed with Neil and hired him a couple of days after our initial meeting. On the day of the wedding Neil and Kristie (who is also awesome to work with) arrived early to set up. They photographed Erin first while she got ready, and although she is not one to be put in the spotlight, she felt very comfortable with both of them photographing her while she and her bridesmaids got ready. We next did the "first look" session. I don't generally enjoy getting my picture taken, but they made it fun and casual, which helped put me at ease. During the service and reception I never even noticed them, but after seeing the pictures they were able to get, they seemed to be  everywhere without being intrusive in the slightest. The pictures turned out 1000x better than I had even hoped for, and they made our wedding look like a fairy tale. My mom had been very sick and I asked Kristie if she could put a rush on a few pictures with me, my mom, and dad.  Kristie went out of her way and got me a few pictures to give to my mom before Christmas.  This is only the second review I have written on yelp, but felt like they did such an exceptional job that I wanted to make sure others knew! After seeing Neil photographer several of our friends wedding we decided to commission him for our own big day. It was immediately apparent that we made the right decision. Neil's calm professional take charge, no fuss attitude is exactly what a chaotic wedding day needs. As one is often worried about who/what will need to be managed on the big day and I assure you it will not be him or his team. From the time we were getting ready to the time the DJ was packing up Neil made the most out of every second. Its a good thing to because in a flash it was all over and we were left wondering what happened. Luckily we have the pictures that beautifully and artfully captured the days events. We were able to enjoy the moments we shared as a couple as well as the wedding from the guests perspective. The work he has done with be something our entire family cherishes forever. I loved working with Neil and Kristie and am so happy that I chose them to photograph our wedding. You can look at their website and tell that they're a very talented photographer team but I really felt like they were an asset on our wedding day for more than just their photography. They were fun to work with and kept things rolling as we did all of the photos before the wedding, including the first look. They accommodated any requests we had for specific photos and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera.

I did a bridal portrait session in the studio as well and I highly recommend it! Not only did I get some wonderful portraits to display at our reception, it gave me a chance to get to know them a little better before the big day which was nice since I was a bit frazzled before the ceremony. Neil and Kristie work great together and have been working on weddings for so long that I found myself asking them for advice on other aspects of the ceremony as well. From the first phone call, which was within 24 hours of my first correspondence, to our meetings about the album and purchasing photos, he's been responsive, professional, friendly, and great to work with. His background in corporate/commercial work combined with his journalistic and artistic approach to photography result in a great compilation of images from your wedding. He doesn't just take standard posed photos of everyone standing in a row, unless you request that. His work captures a perspective of the event that documents the food, decor, room, and energy and atmosphere of the people in attendance. I recommend his services to anyone interested. He's great to work with and will provide you with lasting memories. Plus he's great at offering suggestions, for instance, if you can't figure out how to create a memorable send off and have limitations, he's full of ideas. What other photographer offers to assist you with ideas for florists, DJ's, make-up and hair, and even offers up his own nanny when one of the bride's guests needs a back up sitter a week before the wedding? Neil and his staff provided great assistance throughout the process of booking, photo selection for an album, and beyond. Neil was great at providing suggestions (pressure free) for DJ's, florists, hair and make-up artists, and even his personal nanny's contact information when less than a week before the big day we needed a sitter for an out of town guest . Who could ask for service better than that?

In our meeting he informed me that he firmly but politely directs people to where they need to be during the photo shoot, which is what I wanted so that we stayed on schedule and my guests didn't have to wait long for us to arrive at the reception. He was polite, funny, kind, and professional. His work is beautiful and I have many photos to cherish for a lifetime. I highly recommend Neil to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. All I can say is OMG!! Neil boyd photography is absolutely amazing and amazing to work with!! I can't tell you how easy they were to work with and what great personalities they have to make you really feel comfortable! I don't like taking pictures of myself so it is hard for me to feel comfortable enough in front of someone and they made me feel so comfortable and beautiful!! I was excited to work with Neil from the get-go. As soon as I saw his picture and creative flair, I knew he was the photographer for me. He made our wedding day so fun and I got to let out my inner model!!! He has such a great eye. I've only seen two of our pictures so far and they are amazing. I did my bridal portrait with Neil Boyd. They were very nice and flexible in terms of scheduling my shooting and consultation sessions, and although I ran late for my post shooting consultation, they were really accommodating and didn't rush me a bit. The pictures turned out to be really gorgeous. I didn't give a 5.0 was because I think the canvas production (we did three to be placed at my wedding) was really way more expensive than everybody else that I'm aware of. But I guess it's a norm that photographers don't release the digital rights to the photos until the weddings are over, so we didn't have other choices.
