Nate's passion for the dog community is unparalleled. He really shows his love for educating people on how to properly train their dogs using positive techniques. He is so committed that he provides free information to the community that he cant reach. I haven't had a puppy in over 13 years and when I got my weimaraner puppy I didn't know where to start. Nate breaks down the fundamentals (and advanced concepts) of dog training in an easy to understand, easy to apply way. When I'm at the park with my pup, I get compliments on how well- trained and reliable my boy is for his age. I always refer them to Nate's YouTube page so they can learn for themselves the process of obedience training. It's been very rewarding for me and my dog both as it's built a strong bond of loyalty and trust. I will continue to follow Nate's guidance and recommend him to any dog or would be dog owners. Thank you, Nate! More...

I worked with Nate virtually and have watched all his videos... And an incredible amount of videos that aren't his. Nate's approach to training is by far the best - he teaches theory so you can actually laden how to train a dog (not just what to do, but why) and truly cares about the animals - it's not a 'alpha' approach but is balanced

I spent about 2 hours with Nate showing me the fundamentals of teaching my dog new tricks and some obedience lessons. Nate is patient and kind and really knows what he is doing. I was just telling a friend how we all know experts in a given field, full of knowledge, but he/she is unable to convey what he/she knows, i.e., to TEACH their expertise and impart the information in a way that is articulate and meaningful to someone else. It is really a different and unique skill-set. Many people are experts at something, but they couldn't explain what they know to save themselves. Nate is different; he is a consummate dog trainer AND has the innate ability to impart what he knows so that we ordinary dog owners can understand and be successful in training our forever friends. I was able to grasp and understand the concepts and fundamentals. Honestly, that's no small feat. I'm already getting Cooper to learn some tricks. I can't wait to show what Cooper can do to my friends! Thank you, Nate! More...

I love Nate's training philosophy and style. I could not believe how my adopted pup (whom I thought was a little slow in learning, but I guess it was not him, but me ) quickly responded to Nate and his lead and guidance. If you saw them, you would think it's his dog... Nate is really thorough in explaining his philosophy and how and why it works so well. You really can tell from the first moment how much he cares about his customers and dogs, and how much he loves his job. Now I am extremely motivated to work with my pup to teach him everything Nate was teaching me. I also bought Nate's online video programs to make my training easier in the future. More...

Nathan was recommended by our veterinarian. Our 18 month old shepherd mix, Kona, was having some behavioral problems and needed some basic training. Nathan met with us in our home, assessed our dog and we decided to bring Kona to him for a three to four day stay for training. After four days we met Nathan and Kona and were amazed at what Nathan had accomplished with Kona. Nathan led us through what we are to do to enforce her behavior with us. He is extremely knowledgable, articulate and we will work upon what he has done. We will continue lessons with Nathan as needed. We met with Nathan to help us with our at-times aggressive small dog. Specifically we were looking for guidance on how to handle him nipping at people he does not know. He met with us for free for over an hour for an initial consultation and from there we booked a single in-home lesson. In that short time with Nathan, we learned so much and watched as our dog learned to follow the guidelines Nathan set. We will need to practice often with our dog and the tools Nathan gave us, but he assured us and our dog will learn quickly and that he is available to return whenever needed. It was an awesome experience and well worth the time and cost, especially considering his prices are far below 4 other local trainers I spoke with. I had a wonderful morning being human trained about my two fur kids by Nathan Schoemer. He gave be very helpful tips about how to change the barking habits in my residence and how to use sounds and treats to get my pets to behave in owner friendly ways. One big 'ah-ha' learned piece of information that dogs do not just chew up a shoe due to anger. Dogs & Cats aren't vindictive, unlike us humans. Oh, the things we learn has adults that we must re-learn to better care for our beloved pets.I highly recommend Nathan as someone to dog owners should check out for his help in pet training and behavior modification. He certainly modified my misinformation about my fur kids. Nathan at Hira's Legacy is amazing with dogs! I've had different breeds of dogs for the past 20 years and most of the dogs have had some training before I received them. So, when I received a purebred German Shepherd I didn't realize how much training was going to be involved. At first I tried to teach myself with books but once I started referring to my puppy as Lucifer I realized I needed some formal training. I tried a few trainers and they were awful and wanted to give my dog treats the entire time. A friend then referred me to Nathan and all of the information that he gave me just made me want to meet him. Hunter, my dog, doesn't usually get exhausted but just after playing with Nathan and doing a few repetitive commands Hunter was so tired upon meeting him. I really love how Nathan doesn't go overboard with the treats and at the same time notices when Hunter is getting bored of training so he switches things up a bit. Seeing someone guide you expertly and really enjoy your dogs company is rare. He works well with my hectic schedule and is so helpful. He's been very instrumental in Hunter's training and obedience in a positive manner. I now refer to Hunter by his real name instead of Little Lucifer. Hira's Legacy gets two thumbs and two paws up! I spent one 1-1/2 hour session with Nathan a week or so ago with my Pitty Mix Hearty just learning basic commands and obedience and my girl is a whole different dog. My issues were leash training while walking and her over re-activeness to other dogs while out. Well, just in spending that time with Nathan learning what I had to learn in order to teach Hearty has meant that our experience out now is so much more relaxed, because he was able to teach both of us just what we needed to learn to achieve these results. Don't get me wrong, we still have a ways to go but I couldn't have started this journey and learning experience with anyone better than Nathan. We are so incredibly lucky that our veterinarian’s office recommended Nathan. Nathan is amazing!! We left our 50+ lb, rambunctious, 8 month old golden-doodle, Loke, with Nathan for a one-week stay and train. We struggled with containing her intermittent high energy, which was intimidating to our two children and anyone who came to our home. Although Loke has a very sweet demeanor and is eager to please, we had great difficulty communicating with her in an effective manner. So we decided to get some help. Loke’s behavior improved DRAMATICALLY in just one week of training! We are now able to walk with her on a loose leash. No more pulling and very minimal jumping and barking when she encounters other dogs and people. Nathan is extremely educated in dog psychology and explains exactly what he does during training sessions. He is very patient with dogs and with training us humans to work with our dogs ☺. I will definitely be coming back, and I am recommending him to everyone I know. You can spend a few bucks on what often turns out to be ineffective training elsewhere, or you can get it done right the first time for a very reasonable price in a one-on-one session. He does not try to up-sell you, squeeze an extra couple of bucks, or anything like that.. and he's definitely not a "clock watcher". He genuinely cares and wants to see you and your dog succeed. When I was 6 months pregnant we adopted our personality filled Lhasa Apso, Luna. In the first few days she was perfect but slowly she started displaying signs of aggression and disobedience. Her aggression began with her food, then with her toys, when we approached her personal space and finally what made us call Nathan- her crate aggression. My husband and I could not approach her crate once she was inside without her lunging and barking endlessly for us to step back. My anxiety sky-rocketed every time we had to put her to bed. Not wanting to give up on Luna, we decided to call an expert. The moment I spoke to Nathan I was confident he could help us with the issues mentioned above, specifically her crate aggression. Nathan not only educated us on dog behavior but he also helped us condition Luna with positive cues. Nathan's enthusiasm for training is so contagious it always made me want to train more, he often stayed at the school after hours helping students and interactively training with anyone who wished to participate. Nathan Schoemer was one of my instructors during the professional dog trainers program in the Tom Rose school for Dog Training. Whenever I came to him with a problem he tried his best to look at the problem from as many angles as possible and come up with the best solution for that trainer and that individual dog. That way he solved problems that I came to him with, by recognizing what method my dog needed even if they were not exactly what the school normally advised. His biggest strengths in my opinion is being able to motivate everyone around him to do better and work harder. And with his attitude and work ethic he makes the perfect role model. Finally he understands that dog training is about more than working dogs, it is also about having your own goals and meeting them while maintaining a balance in your life because every dog feeds off your energy. - Rúnar Örn Friðriksson Certified Dog Trainer. When I say that I've had the "privilege" of knowing, working with, and learning under Nathan Schoemers mentorship the last eleven years, that would being doing him an injustice. I say that because being "privileged" doesn't even begin to describe how fortunate I have been.Maybe because of his several years as United States Marine, when Nate walks into the room there is a presence that attracts the attention of all around him. His charismatic personality sets him aside from most; the energy effort and sincerity exhibited in his mannerisms and behaviors makes all want to follow. Nathan displays a passion and energy for dog training I have not seen in any other instructor. Not limiting himself to just one style or method makes his abilities much more respectable. As a student going through the course at The Tom Rose School, Nathan was one of my assistant instructors. I thought that my 12-15 hour school days was pushing the envelope, however no matter how long I thought I was there, he was usually the last to leave.Even now, four months since Nathan chose to pursue other avenues of dog training, several students and other instructors alike will mimic Nates idiosyncrasies; just one example of how influential Nathan can be. Not only do other people respond well to Nates personality, but also most dogs do as well. Every dog that I've seen Nate work with, love him. They are always happy when he's around, and the dogs that he trains always prance all over the place while he is working them. Nathan is a rare find. There are few people out there that have the drive, motivation and work ethic that he displays on a daily basis.
