About

Hi there! My name is Chris. I teach music to people just like you and I help people achieve their musical dreams!

I teach how to play piano by ear by teaching the system that professional musicians use to learn songs quickly. You can be one of those people who hears a song on the radio once and then can sit down and play it instantly.

Chris is absolutely amazing! He helped me when I didn’t know where to find the melodies or if I couldn’t come up with idea for where the song could go. I HIGHLY reccomend him as a song writer! I’m super picky and absolutely loved chris! More...

Chris is Highly Attentive to your needs and will adjust accordingly! His Approach to helping you set tangible goals for yourself and helping you take one confident step at a time, even when you’re doubting yourself; makes his coaching style a necessary part of growing into the Musician you want to become.

Since starting my lessons with Chris his encouragement has lead me to explore new possibilities with my music, taking more risks, and feeling the excitement of starting something new and developing more of the skills that I’ve been familiar with! It’s a definite recommendation for anyone looking to grow in many ways!

I took piano lessons back when I was a kid and wanted to rekindle my love of music as an adult. I searched the internet for a piano teacher and came across Chris’ website. I was immediately impressed with what I saw and I was even more impressed in person. He was patient, made me feel comfortable, and challenged me! He was such an amazing teacher, I wish I could have taken more lessons but I moved away bc of the pandemic. I highly recommend Chris as a piano teacher! More...

Chris was a fantastic teacher with my son. He customized his teaching to what worked best for my son's music style and rapid pace of learning. Instead of a standardized classical song approach and skill development process, Chris creatively wove in the needed technical teachings with the song preferences of my son, not to retain his attention but to energize his want for playing......which he did masterfully. All kids can start to learn music, but Chris helps them want to keep learning and, more importantly, enjoy playing it. More...

Chris is amazing at what he does and is passionate about helping you become the musician you want to be! He listens and is always encouraging. Choosing to start playing later in life (age 38), he was patient with me and kept pushing me to see that you can start playing at any age. It takes work to learn something new and is scary; however, Chris is a great teacher and supportive throughout the journey! More...

Q&As

I love seeing things click with my students! I recently had a student who wanted to learn how to play piano by ear. She really wanted to get better at playing chords and reading chord charts. After our very first lesson, where we went over the circle of 5ths and how chords work, the lightbulb went off in her head! She said how excited she was because no one had ever explained music to her like that, even though she has been playing music classically for years! Classical music and playing by ear are two different skills. It's really fun to help people see both sides of the equation and help them develop the one that gets them the most excited!

I started teaching lessons because people would come up to me after my gigs and ask if I could teach them. At first, I didn't think much of it. I started teaching a few folks. But then I started to notice I had a knack for it and I really loved helping people learn how music works. I had a system of teaching that most teachers do not use - playing by ear. This made my students get really excited about music. Once I saw how valuable that was to them, I decided to pursue teaching more seriously.

I had a music school in St. Louis for a number of years. I sold the business to pursue my dream of living in New York City in 2021. And that is when I started my new music school to bring music lessons to students worldwide!

Your lessons will focus on what you want to learn! This is more than just lessons. This is a mentorship with a professional musician that can take your skills to the next level. Whether you are a total beginner or a seasoned pro, we will set clear goals and get to work on accomplishing them together!

I have been a working professional musician since the age of 12 - for over 30 years now! I have traveled the world playing music. I am also a classically trained pianist starting lessons when I was 5. I studied piano performance and studio recording at Greenville University. I then entered the world of jazz as well as piano bar entertaining and have been doing that ever since.

I have been teaching music since 2009 and have had well over 100 students over the years!

Yes I do lessons online via Zoom or in-person at my studio in Manhattan.

I am vaccinated and boosted, but I do not require this for my students. I leave it up to my students if they want to wear masks or not. I want to do everything I can to make you feel safe, so we will do what works best for you.
