This was my first time here. Let's just say don't go here when you are hungry because they will take forever and a day to take your order. And another day to cook it. Other than that the food is pretty good. More...

Horrible service for african american women! Nigerian women are so jealous and have so much hatred towards us beautiful african americans. It's so sad because we should not be divided. We have worked hard here in america and they come over marry or go to school for papers and think they are better. News flash you're not!!! We have made it possible for africans! The owner of this place Mr Murphy himself should really do something about this but it's like he doesn't care as long as he's getting money from his kind. TY a African American male who's always posing as management admitted to this problem but is scared to speak up about it and I get it because this pays his bills. I am currently working with a group of professionals and some of the other women with complaints to see if we can get a discrimination suit going. More...

As a suggestion from a co worker I came for dinner and was very disappointed! No jolaf rice...what African restaurant is out of jolaf rice at the start of dinner? And no happy hour despite it saying so on the website. The catfish basket does not look like the one on the website and the fish was so small it was ridiculous...for $15!Do not go here unless you want to be ripped off and have money to waste More...

First time here during "happy hour" but did not reflect a happy hour price like the website mentions. We were excited about the food. ..my husband got goat and rice, and my coworker and I had the catfish nuggets and shrimp baskets. The nuggets were soooo small....like they took a regular size nugget and cut it in half. I asked for a refund and they couldnt immediately issue it in the system because the person that does it wasnt working at the moment. Ridiculous! They were out of jolif rice and tilapia which is what we originally wanted. How can you be an african restaurant with no jolif rice! The sauce with the goat was so spicy...I think they should give a heads up about that. The bartender was nice and did her best for being the only person working the bar. Overall, I was not impressed with this place and probably wont be back. More...

don't come here expecting chick fil a level service, because you'll be disappointed. however, come here for the ambiance and the food! i got the curry shrimp with steamed rice and mac and cheese. the only thing i didn't like was the mac. my mom got egusi with goat meat. *chefs kiss* it was amazing. also if you order a drink and want it to be top shelf, say that!! when my mom first ordered her long island iced tea, it was very watered down. that caused small wahala, the bartender ended up coming to speak to use saying he added two extra shots and she was like "but is it top shelf? that's what i wanted" lol the server didn't know to ask that... so you have to specify. anyways, if you come after 8pm, be ready to party because this place is also a club! Check them out. We ordered jerk chicken to go. I prefer white meat but their dark is still good. The cabbage was seasoned perfectly. And the Mac & cheese was pretty good as well. Everything was relatively warm when we got home. We'll be back to taste more from their extensive menu. More...

I love the wings but the service is terrible . Has been for years now . Never would I ever pay to get in . I would say the crowd is 35 years and older . They rarely play American music , there's VERY rarely reggae . This is an African lounge. The food is good, no one dances , and they are over priced . More...

This place is straight trash. I ordered a food order for the 1st time.. they put black beans over rice and called it peas And rice. . not a Jamaican dish. The cabbage was peppered and the jerk chicken was alright. The menu Is extensive but the quality of taste is lacking. It is total garbage! The Customer Service is trash too. I will never attempt to eat there again! stick to the nightlife More...

The only reason they got 4 stars is because they are always out of Mac N cheese other than that I love their food. The Mac is somewhat my favorite because it's just different. They fry their plantains beautifully caramelized buttery and sweet. The black beans and rice are so flavorful and the jerk chicken (yummy) taste so authentic, moist and tender. I will also like to point out that after hours is a lounge and the music selection is groovy and upbeat. I really like this place More...

First of all, CLAP CLAP CLAP for the staff that were at the door checking for masks and taking temperatures before patrons enter. First time ever seeing a restaurant do this and making sure social distancing is enforced. CDC guidelines in full affect!!!! As a visitor from out of town this was great to see. This restaurant is in a plaza so there's free parking, it looks small from outside but the indoor is so big. Downside is that it's not well lit in the dining/bar area, I literally had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. There's west/East African, Caribbean & American food on the menu.We were seated by a waitress that seemed tired and didn't want to be bothered. She brought the menus and left. Didn't even ask us if we wanted anything to drink or if she should bring us water. She was gone for quite some time. When she came back she didn't even apologize and proceeded as if nothing was wrong. While she was taking our orders she would look away at times like she's in a hurry or something. Never told us her name and we didn't even bother to ask. There were four of us. Two ordered "Tilapia dinner with sides of rice/beans, plantain & cabbage and the other two ordered "Jerk chicken dinner with sides of fries, Mac n cheese, plantain and rice/beans". We ordered our drinks at the same time as well. Took about 20-30mins for our food to come. The music was playing a bit too loud and we had to talk loudly even though we were right next to each other. Felt like we were at the club. Besides eating in, there's also a game area, live band area and apparently before COVID it was considered a lounge/dancing spot. P.S. The restroom can use some renovation.Besides that I'd say that the food was okay and we got more than enough and it's reasonably priced. We definitely had leftovers to take back to our hotel. More...

02/10/2021 was My first time here as I'm new to the area. I came from work and the service was extremely slow and it was about 6-8 people total. My soup was cold and was made from meat and I'm vegetarian and there are no real vegetarian or vegan options. How you bring someone okra soup with a bone in it.? I'll be filing a BBB complaint and then the Food manager came and didn't even apologized; just took the food. This is why it is hard for black people to support black people. I came to obtain a food experience and certainly didn't get it and I'm in tears! Food is culture and I take it very seriously! This was a terrible first experience and I won't ever eat here again. 1 star only bc the cocktail was good .. More...

this has been my go to spot for carribean food for the past year. i've been several times & always pleased with the service whether dining in or carry out. the space is absolutely HUGE!... hence the name murphys mansion. i think it must hav been an event center at some point but now it has the feel of a club/restaurant. they have a full bar & dine in seating which surrounds a spacious dance floor. pre-covid they would have a DJ during the evenings playing a mixture of afro beats, hip hop, and r&b. im not sure if this is still a thing during covid, as i've only had carryout lately. as for the eats, this is what i've had: oxtails (my favorite dish-very meaty), cabbage, beans/rice, beef patties, whole red snapper (lots of bones but the flavor is EVERYTHING!), jerk chicken (some of the best i've had), curry chicken is also really good, and plantains. i also tried the goat curry but wasnt a fan. i typically like this dish at other carribean places but it was way too gamey for me here. i would not discourage anyone from trying it tho; just wasnt for me. they also have a west african & east african menu, which i have yet to try anything from because the oxtails always call my name. its my goal to order something different in the new year. they also hav an american menu with the basics (burgers, fries, wings, etc). u can get this stuff anywhere so i'll pass on this. I will rate this place 0 stars the waitress staff and manger sucks. I waited over 35 minutes for a drink that had black dots in the drink but they still made me pay for it. They add gratuity to the bill and our waitress only came to us twice. My friend had wings that smell spoiled. I watch a manager yell at her employees. Like what kind of establishment that makes you wait over an hour for food. Or waitress who choose African men over women. The only person who made my time worth while was a serve who wasn't even mines I believe her name is Rae. Literally our waitress was an African with an attitude all the African waitress have an attitude then when I walked to the bar a lady with glasses and blue hair yelled at bar patrons just trying to catch their attention. Let me not start on the bathroom yeah this place is a dump I wouldn't even recommend this unless you like getting ripped off literally paid $6 for ice. And gratuity of $25 for poor service black owned but not for black Americans. Beware of this place!!!! More...
