They are great hosts. We dinned on New Year's Eve. We were very satisfied with the four course special. The appetizers were elegantly designed and served, the salads were innovatively cute and fresh, the entrees were indeed delicious and desserts were authentic. Great for Brunch and Dinner! I went there for brunch the first time with friends before we took the tour and it was fabulous especially their cornbread. Most recently, I went there for dinner during their Christmas Illuminations and it was amazing! We got a table in one of the smaller rooms which was part of the original house and was all been decorated for the holiday and featured a large fireplace as well as a portrait of George Washington. We couldn't get reservations but were able to do a walk-in when they first opened for dinner service. We got the steak and shrimp jambalaya. Both were delicious. I LOVED this place!!! Â Me and my kids went to tour Mount Vernon, George Washington's plantation home. Â The last time I toured here was in 2000 and there was no visitor center, museum, gift shop or restaurant. Â Matter of fact I remember parking on the lawn fronting the mansion. Â Now there's ample parking flanking both sides of the plantation. Â If you haven't visited here lately you need to go back. Â At any rate, I'm reviewing the restaurant located on the plantation known as Mount Vernon Inn. Â Albeit this restaurant is probably geared for tourists it was pretty darn good. Â Kind of reminds me of Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Â We or I started with a glass of George Washington Merlot $10.50. Â I expected it to be a house wine, but it was actually pretty good. Â I had the Crusted Roasted Rosemary Chicken $16 with mashed potAyoes and green beans. Â It was deeeeelicious!!! Â It was like Mary Washington or Hercules "Uncle Harkless" Posey made it himself. Â Not sure if M-Dub cooked. Â My daughter had the Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich $15 with chips. Â My so decided to lie his age and went with the All-American Fried Chicken Fingers $8 with fries. Great food and a great setting. Wait here after visiting the Mount Vernon museums and home. It was recommended to us to eat the soup Trio to get a feel of the various different types of soup that were available on the property. My wife got the fried green tomatoes. The kids menu was very good and my daughter got the mini fillet. Overall great experience. I would recommend that you add this to the end of your day at Mount Vernon. More...
