We are a well-known family owned Italian-American restaurant that's been a part of Columbus for about 5 decades. As an experienced Italian cuisine chef and my wife's Italian heritage, we took it upon ourselves to purchase and maintain the Milano name for years to come rather than reinventing it.

Decided today that I would finally hit Milano's Italian Restaurant up. My waitress was India, she and the rest of the staff were wonderful. They checked on me adequately and kept my water full. I ordered the Rigatoni and a side of Alfredo. Came with a salad which was nice and fresh. I had Honey French dressing which was delicious. The Rigatoni had a nice tastey sauce with a cheesy topping that could have have been baked a little longer. The highlight of the meal was the breadsticks surprisingly. This was a great find! These portions were HUGE for the price, we had plenty of lunch leftovers. We started with the Sausage Arancini which was fun to try all three different sauces; red, pesto, and alfredo. The penne vodka was so cheesy and creamy, it was perfect! What a treat! My bride and I stumbled across Milano's while spending the day out and about. An experience reminiscent of decades past. The staff, atmosphere, as well as the unexpected special treat of this classic live entertainment. A class act. The food experience was phenomenal! True to its Italian region, the flavors were soft, delicate, and characteristic of a seasoned Italian chef. I can't express enough how much we enjoyed our experience last night. Forty minutes from our home will not keep us from returning often, with a vast menu that tempts the most discerning of palettes. The best Italian food on the east side of Columbus, if not the best in the city! The servers have always been attentive and pleasant. We had the lasagna with a side of meatballs and the chicken parm. with angel hair pasta. All mouthwateringly good. Excellent flavor, cooked perfectly. Mediocre strip mall Italian with a generous portion of transphobia. Sign at the host stand said 'Please Wait to be Seated'. I stood there with zero acknowledgment from a single employee for 15 minutes. After it became clear I wasn't going to be seated I eventually sat myself at the bar where I was ignored for another 5-7 minutes. I've been here several times and always enjoyed myself . Food is always very good . Tonight I was taking my daughter to dinner and when we went in we stood at the door waiting for someone to acknowledge us . We didn't know if we waited to be seated or sat ourself . The bartender saw us and one or two waitresses. Finally someone comes over and she says "let me see if we have anything in the back".We then see her behind the bar talking to some ladies . She never came back to let us know anything . So I walked up to the bar and ask her if they had anything available and she said "yes they're getting it ready " . It would have been nice of her to tell us before chit chatting at the bar . So I told her to forget it and we left . I won't go there any more . She was very rude . Came in and was sat at a table and sat there for 15 min and no water or breadsticks or anything. No one even spoke to us. Went to move to bar and no one was there so we left . Unfortunately this fine establishment is employed by a rude waiter. Drink order Did not come until 3/4 they way through dinner. ., after I asked. Order was not correct and did not provide all that was ordered. When bill came.. I paid the amount without tipping..: Tbe waiter chose to crumble the receipt and throw it at my husband. When I shared this misfortune with his manager... who was very apologetic... as iI passed the table the waiter assured me that my feedback would not get him fired. The food here is terrible. I was excited to eat here based upon the reviews, but my mom and I had terrible food and received less than stellar service from Betty. I ordered the Italian sampler, and all the food was bland, and the meatball was cold. My mom had a chicken salad, and the chicken tasted like it was dropped in dishwater and then fried on the grill. Betty stopped coming to our table to refill our drinks once our food was brought out. Went for lunch today to celebrate a friend's bday. We both wanted liver and onions which they have on their lunch menu. Becky was our server and she was outstanding! If you want to have a traditional italian experience and authentic italian food, this is not the place for you. I was started off with some break sticks that were not very good and felt like they were deep fried somehow. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo with shrimp, it was very underwhelming. The noodles were plain tasting as well as the entire meal. The shrimp looked like they had been taken off a cocktail plate but somehow were worse than that. My parents love Italian food. So for my visit, I decided to pick up dinner from Milanos. Wow' I went on the night kids from prom and Mother's Day weekend were there. Only place available was the bar. Every table was taken. My parents don't go anywhere since COVID 19. I saddled up to the bar to place my order. Since I arrived at 5:20pm. It took about 10 minutes to wait for my order to get placed. No worries, then after I ordered immediately, I am given a receipt for my food. To my surprise was a line with a Takeout Fee of $2 added. I was surprised that I wasn't told of a fee to place a to go ruder. I was taken back. I wanted to ask why they charged a takeout fee when my order was already $40. Never got the chance bartender was very busy with other patrons. Also, it had an addition tip line too. Really??? I thought How Rude! I didn't pay a first tip, I paid a fee. However, Linda P. A sweet server brought me a Pepsi and said it would be a few minutes. No problem. After all the place was hopping. After waiting 30 minutes and people at the bar who ordered after me were finishing up their meals, I asked where my order was. She apologized and said my order was given to a big party by mistake. She said just give me a few more minutes. I said ok. Then I saw a guy come in and she had placed a Togo order by the end of the bar. The man picked it up and left. Yep, you guessed it...He took my order by mistake. Linda apologized to me again said please give me 15 more minutes. I said sure. Another 15 minutes she brought a huge Bag filled with the food I had ordered. She apologized and said for my inconvenience she threw in a free dessert. She was so wonderful. I took our food home. Please bring back the Milano family. The change is ownership was very apparent. I made early reservations to insure a nice table just to be seated right next to the swinging kitchen door. The owner did offer to change tables but we would have had to wait 20 minutes. Our server is one of the worst I've ever had. We waited over 15 minutes for her to show up. No water, no breadsticks. She finally showed and all she said was I guess I'll have to take your drink order with your food. No apology for the lengthy wait. The food was good. I rarely leave a negative review, but this was the Absolute worst experience I've had at restaurant in a long time. Waiter came by the table once every 20 minutes, never refilled our drinks once. Went on a 15-20 minute smoke break in the middle of our meal and didn't bring our food until we tracked him down. Brought the wrong food to the table twice and gave us another table's appetizer when he messed ours up that had clearly been sitting for a long time. Splattered sauce on my shirt because he was so frantic the whole time. The place was not that busy to have been this way. The food quality was just as bad as the service. Flavorless. 3/4 of the food we received came out of a bag straight to the plate. Bread was a stale hotdog bun, salad was from a bag not even washed, the meatballs were relatively good compared to the rest of the experience.... $50 later we could have bought a jar of sauce and box of pasta and eaten better and enjoyed the experience more. Hubby jokes that he judges a restaurant by the lasagna. Noticed wedding soup on the menu and we had to try it. Delicious! He said we’d come back just by trying that . He got lasagna and said mmm... Enjoyed a wonderful first time dinner at Milano's Italian Restaurant the other day. It was an AMAZING experience. The staff was sooo welcoming and truly cared about my time there. My server, Michael, was more than that. He was that true Italian wait staff that made you instant family. He said it had been a slow day. I enjoyed the house salad with the homemade Italian dressing and Michael added real blue cheese on the side just because he's awesome . I also have been in the mood for French Onion soup for over a month and they had some! Yum and don't judge the picture too much, judge me instead...I ate the cheese and stirred it in before I thought to take a pic . At Micheal's recommendation, I was blessed by the Chicken Parm. Dined here Friday evening, Had excellent service. Server was not only efficient but very personable. I started with a salad that was cold and crisp. The house Italian is flavorful without overpowering. I got my favorite Linguini Primavera which is served with chicken although you can get with shrimp. This olive oil based dish never fails to disappoint. Perfectly cooked broccoli, red peppers, and red onion combined in such a delicious way. My husband ordered Chicken Parm . It was a huge portion so.we brought that home as well as half the Primavera. There was enough chicken parm left for us to share the next night. I have never had but it was delish. The food was so seriously bad i threw it away after 2 bites. I tried to resolve the issue with them privately over email instead of writing a bad review, but when i filled the form out on their website it literally said "form contains suspicious material and will not be sent". I ordered the "homemade manicotti" and added mushrooms for a $3 upcharge. When i picked my food up and got home i noticed that the mushrooms were from a can. I have a serious issue when im charged $23 for a meal with low quality, canned goods. The fact that they put "areas best italian" on their website should be labelled as false advertising. Although they've been in business 21 years, we recently visited for the first time, as we are from another side of town. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. We are pescatarians (mostly, but not religious about it) but there were about 3 or 4 fish options as well as a few vegetarian options, which was nice! I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and my hubs ordered the cheese ravioli. Both were excellent. Our sides were wedding soup and salad, respectively. Both were freshly prepared and flavorful. Ordered takeout for a large family gathering, and was really impressed with the food! Lasagna was delicious, the spaghetti and meatballs were a huge hit (especially with the kids) and the tiramisu was exceptional. What’s your signature dish?
All of our traditional Italian-American dishes are our top sellers. Chicken Parmigiana, Homemade Lasagna, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo are all amazing dishes that please the masses.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
We have a set menu. Where what you see is generally what you can order, we are happy to custom build a catering-sized dish of any of our entrees to suit your needs.
What do you love most about your job?
The staff. Not a common answer I'm sure, but I love getting to know staff and trying to meet their needs. We live in a world of all kinds of challenges and if I can help my team overcome some obstacles in life not just by financial gain, but emotional support and guidance, I'll do it. We work in a difficult industry where we try extremely hard to please everyone, and where that wont always be the outcome, I feel if I can keep my staff happy, my guests will leave happy the majority of the time. I believe in staff retention as well. In a high turn-over business, it's rewarding to keep people over years, as that shows management is doing something right.
What inspired you to start your own business?
As a former chef and now owner, like many I was laid off from Covid's outbreak. The beauty of this was that I volunteered. We had just had our first born, and I wanted to help my wife with the baby! Not a challenge many dads don't get to do all day long so I embraced it! During this absence from work, we always talked about what to do when we need to start working again. We took a leap with our savings and decided to buy while the market was ripe for selling restaurants. I had worked through the challenges of the shutdown already and felt we just needed to maintain and grow any business that had survived COVID. A few years later, we're still here and continuously looking to improve our brand.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are family owned, operated and family friendly as any GOOD Italian restaurant should be. We love kids, elders and all the in-betweens! We like to host large groups on long thin tables, the Italian way. We don't fully staff catering events, but we make sure you have enough food at a REASONABLE price! Our average price per person is $10-15, a far cry from the more standard $20-25. If you're on a tight budget, consider us. If you're in doubt, come in and I'll talk options with you personally while you sample the food.

No. We are not a remote business. You are able to order online on our website or call us directly for a quote and rundown. I will often deliver catering orders personally to ensure the best quality service.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We adapt all of the time. Right now we are practicing good hygiene, but are prepared to add masks back into the policy as spikes in outbreaks ebb and flow.

Full quality service at a reasonable price. Something that's not common anymore! Excellent wine selections with the focus of bringing in unique high-quality Italian wines that are difficult to fine anywhere else in the city!
