Delicious oysters. Soft shell clams were really tasty as well. Try the gin shooters for something different.

I stopped in Merchant Oyster Co. today to check out the menu and have a bite to eat. This was my first time in, so I asked the barkeep what he would recommend. I ended up with a cup of hot and delicious, fresh made New England clam chowder that blew my mind! The perfect solution for warming my bones on this frigid day. For my main course I asked the people sitting beside me what they would recommend, and a nice young lady suggested the CBLT. It is a crab meat, bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwich on fresh sourdough with a delicious dressing of some sort. That was served with fresh made, old Bay potato chips. The portion size of the sandwich was easily enough to fill two people, but I’m never one to turn down a challenge. Needless to say, not a crumb was left on my plate and most importantly, my hunger was gone! Everything was as amazing and valuable as the fair menu prices would suggest! Everything was professionally prepared with love and nicely presented! I’m still smiling and flabbergasted thinking about how delicious the meal was. You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be back and excited to try new items! I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody that loves giving their taste buds the ol’ razzle-dazzle! Enjoy!! More...

The food was tasty and the service prompt. The prices for the food are what they are for fresh seafood in Pittsburgh. All the dishes we have had are worth the price.

We actually stumbled into Merchant Oyster Co. while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. Expect high ceilings, exposed brick, and a poured concrete bar top contributing to an industrial style interior. The menu focuses on New England classics with a flare and, as their name implies, several varieties of oysters. They also offer a full cocktail menu, a short but solid selection of craft beers, and wine. We elected to go with freshly shucked oysters which were predominantly priced between $2 and $4. They were fresh and high quality, but you may have to ask for condiments if you prefer to dress them up. We also ordered the baked oysters, and enjoyed the salty, garlicky greatness. And don’t skip on the tangy oyster shooters. Price was generally a bit above average, but worthwhile due to quality. From the moment we sat down the service was solid. We sat at the bar (where attentiveness isn’t typically an issue), but our bartender worked with us to make some solid recommendations and checked back frequently. Recommended spot for date night or any night out with someone who appreciates oysters! More...

Amazing seafood in Pittsburg, very fresh delicious oysters served on the shell in a bed of ice, recommend the variety plate. Also had the clams in linguine which was bread sopping deliciuos. The half portion is plenty. Prices a tad higher than what we normally pay in Maryland, but worth it. Most attentive staff I have ever experienced. Good domestic and crft beer selection. Place is small, recommend reservations. More...

This place was absolutely spectacular. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures! Summary: Low key place serving real authentic seafood. We had:-The Celery Gimlet (great for gin lovers)-Bloody Mary (they ask you how spicy you want it, it's serious)-2 vodka oyster shooter (Devine with great presentation)-New Nor'Easter (basically a tiki drink with Maggie's farm deliciousness)-New England Clam Chowder (it's not super thick which is how I like it, but they have other chowders)-Dozen oysters raw (their variety is choice and the ones we had were so complex)-Two hot lobster rolls (these...wow. We could have ordered them cold but we chose hot. The butter was heavenly and the rolls just the right consistency. Loved the old bay chips)-Ice cream cookie sandwich (perfect conclusion to the meal. Wasn't trying to be anything but a sweet stinger)Basically, go there. It's awesome and everything we wanted plus more. More...

I love merchant oyster co. The staff is very knowledgeable and inviting. They have some great menu items, but my favorite so far is the Clam Linguini. Another notable dish is the lobster Cuban, made with pork roll instead of ham, and their soups are all great. Stop in for a seafoam cocktail or a Narragansett lager on draft! More...

It took me far too long to make it here, considering I've been to most other places around Lawrenceville. I basically love all seafood, but will admit that I was never super familiar with oysters, and always wanted to try and learn more about different varieties and locations. I had a good conversation with the guy who was shucking the oysters, and tried every one on the menu. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable, and all of the food was great. I will definitely be returning. More...
