About

Having 20 plus years experience in paint color and design consultation I bring that expertise to each of my projects. I like to guide my clients through their projects by educating them about color and materials. We can then work together to achieve the best results.

I have worked with Megan on a number of design projects from painting large communities of over 100 homes to redesigning carpets/ wall paints/ drapes/ furniture for high-rises.  Megan is very professional and is very good with constant communication.  She clearly lays out options which are easy to understand to select from.   She also helps select and manage vendors to get the job done.  A+++, highly recommended. Megan helped my wife and me determine the right colors for the exterior of our house.  She was excellent.  She was able to listen to our preferences and then provide some great additional considerations that we would have missed.  For example, she knew how to reconcile our preferences with some natural constraints that could not be changed.  As another example, she steered us away from some paint colors that would have looked worse after withstanding a lot of sun.  We ended up with colors with which we are very pleased.  My wife and I highly recommend her. I am a painting contractor, I been in the painting business for 11 years, I deal with colors designers very often, but after painting 1 of the exteriors painting project that I had this summer, the color scheme looks awesome, I take a lot of pride on my work, but after I saw the color combination that Megan Clark design for this project, it made my work look a lot better. I recommend Megan for 1 of my customers for a 4 unit stucco building project and my customer and I couldn't be happier, again her color design came out beautiful.I will be recommending Megan to my customers every time a have a chance.Highly recommended. Megan did a great job in recommending the colors for my house, which was recently remodeled and repainted.  I used all her recommendations and am very pleased with the results.

How many colors exist?  The best answer is infinity!   Careful measurements of our visual system's best performance have been made by psychophysicists (people who study human responses, like seeing color, to things in the world, like light). They have shown that we can see about 1000 levels of light dark, 100 levels of red-green and 100 levels of yellow-blue for a single viewing condition in a laboratory. This means that the total number of colors we can see is about 1000 x 100 x 100 = 10,000,000 (10 million).   What color looks like is greatly affected by the viewing conditions. These conditions include the color of the lighting, the amount of lighting, and other colors in the scene. Colors also appear in different modes when they appear on different objects such as surfaces, light sources, or within volumes. Different people also have slight differences in the way they see color.   It's really quite plain and simple; do not mess with color, don't waste money buying endless swatches or little containers of paint, hoping you'll get it right.  Hire Megan Clark and she will get it right for you the first time.   I have used her on two occasions to help me choose the 'right' colors in my very large home, which is filled with light and many windows but also very tricky as I've learned by my many mistakes in trying to choose colors on my own.   Before Megan, I got it wrong every single time and ended up crying on one occasion.  There simply is no one better and unless you are an expert which most of us simply are not, Megan is worth her weight in gold.  She's the best little secret in Marin County!!  She is fast, she is efficient and you can run through the palates of what works and what doesn't.  She does not criticize; she'll gently guide you and let you ultimately decide.  If you hate it, tell her and she'll pull out a different color, nothing fazes her.  It is not about ego, she listens and she 'hears' and she's got the eye needed to help guide you into what's right for your environment.  It is ultimately your choice in how you want to paint a room but Megan will point out things you won't be aware of such as how a painted room might look welcoming, or not, larger or smaller, too dark, too light...or simply just the wrong shade for reasons you won't understand until you do. We started working with Megan to pick exterior paint colors for our home, and when we realized how wonderful she is with color we started using her for our whole house. She helped with: dining room (paint, upholstery, drapes), living room (paint color, molding, furniture, accent pieces), our master bath (vanity, counter, tile, lighting, mirror), and paint colors for the entire upstairs. She is very good at what she does (just about everything), she uses other specialists who are easy to work with, and she is a delight. More...

I've hired Megan for multiple design consultations ranging in scope from full blown remodel, curb appeal remodel, to interior designing. And I love working with her! I've also recommended her to a number of friends and they've loved her just as much.

She is extremely professional and friendly. She was always on time, followed through on the jobs, and helped me stay focused and on budget.

Megan not only has an amazing eye but she knows how to work with what you already have. I like the fact that she's very practical and knows when it's worth saving and working with something and when it's worth spending the money and investing in something new.

I like that Megan doesn't push her own agenda in terms of style. She always works with what I like. She got a sense of my taste and worked with that and didn't try and change who I was. Consequently, I feel like my house is "me" and not someone else's home.

Last, I think she's a genius with color. I've hired her for jobs just to pick paint color out for rooms and my house exterior. Paint color can really make or break a room or house. I've been so amazed with what she can do with paint color that I don't even try and pick out my paint color anymore. I just call her.

I have hired Megan several times over the last 4 years. Initally, she helped me select color for my entire home towards the end of the building process. She was efficient, listened to my ideas, and directed me into the perfect colors. She took into account the lighting, color flow from room to room, and longetivity of the color selections. We had a 100% match factor - each color that went up as a test ended up being the final color. She absolutely paid for her work since I was not interested in a lot of trial and error or trips back to the paint store. At the end of a 2 year building project, I was out of steam and she helped me cross the finish line and love my new home. She has assisted me in 3 other projects and I don't make a move with color or design features without her help. More...

I am know for my use of color for architectural color consulting.
I always try and design with a lot of color and texture for interior furnishings, materials and finishes.

Being able to teach my clients about color and design while working with them results in the most favorable outcomes. I want each project to be a collaboration between my client and myself a a client feeling that their vision and needs are understood and considered in throughout the project. Nothing is better than the words, "we love it", at the finish of a project. I'm not happy until my clients are thrilled with their new space or colors.

One of my first jobs was working for a painting contractor. Their clients always needed help selecting paint colors for their homes and offices. As I had always been artistically inclined I would volunteer to help the clients and was having great success. I slowly built up a client base and then started my own color consultation and design business. Now it's been over twenty years that I have been working in color and design and still love it!

I bring my 20 years experience in color and design to each client's project. I have developed a process that makes it enjoyable and stress free for my clients to create the look they imagined for their home. I want to ensure that each project fits into a customer's budget and addresses their personal aesthetics and lifestyle. Those are the ingredients to a successful design and color project. I still have an excitement and fascination with color and design which drives me to explore and expand my knowledge of both. I think a good designer always has to be exploring and learning to be able to bring the best to their clients.
