I preordered the Derby Cake for a coworker's birthday ahead of time. Heard the hype about the cake but didn't get to try it until recently. When I picked up the cake at 7:30am, there was already a line with 5 other people also picking up a Derby Cake. Apparently it's THE cake to get. We got ours with strawberries, bananas, white and chocolate cake with whipped cream. This was the most popular option and the taste with everything together worked really well. It wasn't overly sweet and each bite felt like something new. The 10 x 14 sheet says it was for 35 people, but we definitely had plenty left over. The Derby Cake was a definite hit with my team and we can't wait to have another opportunity to order it again. Mazzetti's is a famous bakery in the town of Pacifica. They're known for their classic derby cake which is a light fluffy vanilla cake creation with slices of strawberry and bananas. A lot of people get it for special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas or basically any celebrations you have - they write on your cake for no extra charge! It also comes in chocolate or you can ask them to do half & half (chocolate and vanilla).As far as I remember they used to only accept cash then but thanks to the changing times and the convenience that comes with technology, you can now use debit or credit but must be more than $10 (I think for the credit purchase).Went in to grab a cake for thanksgiving and was able to get the last one (just my luck!). As I was in the process of paying, they created more for the display. It will be best if you check their website first to see their holiday schedule. It also helps if you call ahead to place your order in advance. I was just lucky that they were open Thanksgiving Day from 7am-12pm. They do sell out pretty quick so make sure you go early! More...

I like this bakery and their derby cake is to die for, but the only thing that's inconvenient is that when you have an order you made few days ago and you would think it's come in, get your order and pay and then get out. Nope they make you wait in a long line and wait for the rest of the others before you who doesn't have any pre-orders to make a decision on what they want to buy, then you can pickup your order. Decided last-minute to get derby sheet cakes for our wedding, even though our venue was outside of their delivery area. We had a friend pick up from the bakery. The groom had grown up eating this cake on special occasions like birthdays so it was definitely nostalgic. Mazzetti's was able to accommodate our order for 2 sheet cakes less than 2 weeks before the wedding. We got one chocolate sheet and one vanilla sheet. People loved the cake at the wedding (we ran out), as well as telling us in the days after how delicious it was. Must pre order your derby cake. Both chocolate and white cake with light whip cream in between strawberries and banana. Bomb! If ya can't preorder the derby cake, you can always pick up a premade cake in either chocolate or white cake. Still bomb regardless! Always a family favorite. Once tho, I ordered a derby cake for December and they didn't have any strawberries. They replaced it with "peaches" and I thought it would've fine, but NOPE!! So sad. It was NOT the same. My husband and I just had our wedding a few days ago and we were so impressed with how beautiful and elegant the cake looked! I was so worried because we did not give them a lot of direction. I just knew our theme was travel themed and I was thinking I wanted an airplane with an airplane path on it. I was worried it might look childish because of the airplane but they took my ideas and ran with it! We dropped off the cake topper and decorations a week before - not knowing how we wanted them placed and told them ultimately we just want it to look like a wedding cake. AMAZING!!! I've heard many people in SF and the peninsula talk about this bakery for a long time now. Â So I thought I'd give it a try for a celebration we were having at work. I called and ordered a derby cake with some congratulatory writing and decorations on top. I drove to Pacifica from Cupertino (1hour) to go pick up the cake and I saw so much yummy sweets that I also bought a dozen cupcakes! For newbies, there's only one queue to stand in, all orders whether you walk in to buy one item with your coffee or place an order and simply picking up, you stand in the same queue. With that being said, it's very efficient and quick.I ordered the derby cake.. a staple there! It's the best cake I've had and love! It's made with fresh cut bananas, fresh cut strawberries and fresh whipped cream. The cake itself I ordered made with both a chocolate and yellow layer! The combination makes this cake taste like an explosion in your taste buds. It's also not super sweet since made with whole fresh ingredients. I ordered the 10" round cake, which feeds about 15-20 people. It was only about $40! For the size and quality, this is super reasonable. The cupcakes I bought were an assortment, which also was very fresh and tasty. Parking is ample on the street and the bakery itself is like an old town old school Ma and Pa feel. I love it! Yum!! Their pumpkin pie and Derby cake is delicious! Also, we love their donuts :) Tastes like everything's made with lots of love! One of my favorite things is their seasonal decorations... so cute! Also, there's lots of parking nearby. The only reason I docked a star is because some staff aren't very friendly (even though but most are)! Today one of the employees gasped "Oh my god". The Derby cake is excellent! It had chocolate, banana, strawberry with light-tasting frosting. I ordered a chocolate Derby cake for my son's birthday. It is very reasonably priced. They are able to print a photo on it for an extra $10. The girl behind the counter was very helpful, offering suggestions as to how to decorate it. Very pleased with their service and productsI also tried a a vanilla cupcake with sprinkles, and the carrot cake. I suggest if you wait an hour or two until the cupcake warms to room temperature, because their case, I believe, is refrigerated. How have I never done a review for Mazzetti's in all of these years?! They have done my son's birthday cakes complete with decorations for years now! The derby cake is a must no matter how you get it. From the chocolate derby, the vanilla or combo (if you preorder, don't expect to drop in and get the chocolate vanilla combo one which is my personal favorite) they are all amazing! They've accommodated me on next day cakes with designs as long as they aren't fondant designs and their customer service is great! Only downfall... what happened to being open on Mondays? Got my wedding cake last weekend from Mazzetti's bakery. They are so reasonable and their cakes is so good. We also ordered chocolate chips cookies and sugar cookies and brownies. Everything was amazing. They had the cake and other desserts delivered to our wedding site in half moon bay at 11am. This was plenty early enough since my ceremony did not start until 5pm but then when the florist came at 12pm she could do her job as well by putting the flowers in our cake. Who doesn't love Mazzetti's? The prices are great and there is a wide selection of baked goods. My family and I have placed orders for cakes and they are always the right level of sweetness. My favorite cake is the derby cake since it has fruit and is moist. The only drawback are the lines are long and there isn't really an option to place special orders online. Still 5 stars for me. I hate that I can't remember the lady name that I met with for our wedding cake order. She was really sweet, and since it was my 1st time having to order a wedding cake, I was completely clueless, lost, and overwhelmed. When I got stuck on a decision, or could not get a visual of how the color schemes would look, she would draw me a light sketch on paper with a few ideas. Very helpful technique, and she was so patient and sweet. The wedding cake came out gorgeous, three layers with three different cake flavors, and a beautiful design around all three layers that matched the design on our wedding invitations, and our floor monogram. I am so grateful for the young man behind the counter (the tall one) on Friday morning, 07/19/19, who worked so efficiently and had the good judgment to inform a customer who thought it was all right to bring his dog inside the bakery that only service dogs are allowed. Â The customer didn't object to having to take his dog outside, and the counter person allowed him to keep his place in the long line after he tied his dog up outside. Â Well done!It would be great if all restaurants and grocery stores would enforce the prohibition against animals in businesses where food is kept & prepared.We have the greatest standard of living the world has ever known, but if we allow people to abuse us, to ignore health codes designed to protect us, we will soon see our country's health diminish.
