Appreciate the response by owner Chris. Didn't check pizzas until I arrived home and wasn't willing to get back in car to return or address the issue. I will give your restaurant another chance as I feel it deserves it.Thanks More...

Wanted gluten free pizza and couldn't find any options up in Rome, NY. The fact the pizza was wood fired was also a big sell. I've had gluten free pizza from coast to coast and this was the softest and best gluten free pizza dough I've ever had. This wasn't a frozen crust... it was handmade. On top of the pizza being amazing, the employees/staff were super friendly and accommodating. A friend I was with got a normal crust pizza and he also said it was great. Don't think twice about going here, its amazing! More...

By far the BEST gluten free pizza I've ever had!! The crust is so soft and doughy I could barely tell it was even gluten free. Even better than nyc!! Very clean facility and very very kind staff. I am definitely recommending this place to everyone I know and will be back when I come back for a Utica visit. 5 Stars!! More...

Excellent Gluten Free Pizza shells, totally couldn't tell. We had the bacon, gorgonzola and garlic toppings, regular wood fire shells were excellent as well. Cauliflower, bacon and garlic appetizers with bread were surprisingly good since I usually avoid cauliflower like Kale. Topped off with decent wine and craft beer selections at reasonable prices. Stopped in their new place and it's really a nice place. Great location, lots of parking - easy access (use the back driveway! )At any rate - we got the Bianca (White) Pizza which has Artichoke Hearts, Roasted Red Pepper  and Roasted Garlic.  This pizza was delicious and has a  rustic taste like it was cooked outside on a wood fire. Very thin dough and cooked perfectly. We have scores of Pizza places around here, but the pizza here really stands out. We also go a Meatball Slider - no no no .. nothing like a Meatball Sandwich - it's a 4 ounce meatball topped with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil sandwiched between wood fired dough with a little sauce. Really good to say the least. Nice atmosphere. Better than a take out pizza place, but not as a restaurant - still about average inside. Order at the counter, sit down and they bring you the food. Very clean and nice and we are looking forward to going back. More...

This was great! I was visiting my sister, who goes to Utica College, and I took her here. I was happy to see vegan cheese on the menu - they carry both a housemade cashew ricotta (great on a white/garlic pizza), as well as a locally made Syracuse cheese, "nozzarella. " Very tasty! The wood-fire burns the pizza slightly around the edges but I think that's normal for this kind of pizza. More...

Best artisan pizza I've had in the area by far. Not the place to go if you want a giant greasy slice of NY style, but virtually everything on their menu is incredible, even the things that you may doubt as sounding wonky. I would recommend this place to anyone. Not one to miss. More...

Fantastic meal this early afternoon! Friend and I shared four pies- a classic Margherita, the Vesuvius, Full Monte, and Grazie. All were unique and delicious. The sauce and dough are both of a very high quality. The pizzas themselves were cooked to Neapolitan perfection inside the giant domed wood-fired oven. Will definitely return and tell friends in the Utica area about this place! Thanks to the wonderful staff that told us about the different pizzas on offer. More...

Always an amazing experience. My family loves going Mangia!!! Just brought my inlaws there for the first time and they love it too. I also just found out today they accommodate people with food allergies. I am lactose intolerant and usually I just suck it up and eat the pizza because it’s so good. But I can’t wait to try the vegan pizza next time. Keep making the awesome pie and your friendly over-accommodating staff rocks. These people go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience and the best food and that you always are happy with what you order. More...

Damn, it's so good here. The pizza crust is thin and crispy. I always get the Miele di Fico (goat cheese, figs, ginger honey drizzle). There is another one that has Gorgonzola and garlic, I forget the name, that is outstanding. The tough part is sampling them all - after I find one that I like I want to keep eating the same one. As another reviewer noted, the ambiance is nothing to write home about, but who cares? I'm there for the food. They also have a great drink selection, with craft beers, hard cider and wine. If you're eating here on a Friday or Saturday evening expect to compete for parking with the folks at the Killabrew. Staff is super friendly as well. More...

Five star for the food! I ordered the special Lola pizza, which is in the honor for Olympics. It was arugula and ribeye, with garlic base and some special sauce. Very tasty! The dough is perfect as always, light, fluffy and chewy. Thin, and not overwhelming. The sauce has some sweet tangy taste, a very refreshing feel. I am not a pizza eater, but I can finish the pizza and want more. The size is also perfect. Tried their gun something dark beer, rich and tasty. I will go back for that. Wanna try the white raspberry beer as well. Only wish the environment can be more cozy. More...

This has quickly become one of our favorite Neapolitan pizza joints. We have been food truck customers for the last year and decided to eat at the brick and mortar location. Our initial reaction was that the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. A sophisticated take on a casual pizza place. The brick oven is proudly  showcased in the middle of the open kitchen which was extremely clean and tidy. Staff was well versed on ingredients and menu items and was friendly and helpful. Jordan took our order and was genuinely pleasant and took great pride in her job. The food quality was very high. Pizza is done in several minutes and delivered to your table nice and hot. A local beer selection rounds out what I believe is an excellent menu. Many choices including Gluten Free. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend you and your family give it a try. More...

Seeing the Mangia Macrina food truck in the area was always a delight, but it was truly a pleasure to finally visit their brick and mortar location on Seneca Turnpike this week. Staff was very helpful in helping us make a selection while we placed our order and it does not take long for your pizza to come out once that order goes in. I ordered, on this occasion, the aglio e olio and the true Neapolitan. Flavorful San Marzano sauce, fresh ingredients (oh, that basil!), and staff who were more than happy to chat with us about their menu is a sure to get me to come back again and again. The true Neapolitan is always a favorite of mine, but you have got to get the aglio e olio if you love your garlic! More...

Love this pizza, best in town and I send everyone visiting the area here because it is a must try! Also I find it funny a poor review on here is from another pizza shop owner in the area - so to that I would like to add how classy the shop owner of Mangia Macrina's is and he always sets the bar higher for our city regarding food and service while continually support other businesses in the area. I shop at Seneca Wines and Spirits, and a couple years ago a little bakery called Bazan's was across the lot. Sadly they didn't make it, but they left a fantastic copper hooded wood fired oven in the space. Hurrah, the wood fired pizza truck people Mangia Macrina's has taken over and are burning up some crust there now.Aside from the GORGEOUS furnace the decor is meh. But the pizza is very nice. Different than any normal upstate NY doughy cheese fest, this is a thin crust, chewy, moderately charcoaled pie with better than good toppings.I had a white pizza with peppers, onion, olive and mushrooms, and none of that came out of a can. I placed the order and in the 5 minutes it took me to get my wine the pie was ready.$13 for a small pie with no meat is steep for around here, but hopefully people will come around to the fact that you have to pay for quality. As to the atmosphere, give them a chance to grow...they've been working out of a truck, remember. A beer and wine license, kill the lights a little, put some Sinatra or Bennett on and keep the staff tattoed pierced and funky, and they'll do just fine. More...
