Manali was such a wonderful photographer and fun person to work with! We hired her for our engagement and wedding photos, and are so happy we did. She made us laugh from the start, which made being in front of the camera much more fun. She had a wonderful eye for color, and we absolutely adore the final product. On our wedding day, she was very direct, but also open to let us play and enjoy the moments. She was incredibly organized with what photos we deemed "must haves", and took care of them early so we didn't have to think about them. She caught all of our wonderful moments, but was so discreet, I barely noticed she was there! We are thrilled with our photos and would absolutely hire her again. More...

Manali is amazing! Not only is she an incredible photographer, but she is an amazing person which made working with her even better. We hired her to be our wedding photographer after seeing her work on her website and on social media. From day one she demonstrated a genuine interest in my husband and I as a couple and spent a lot of time getting to know who we are and what we were looking for. This made us feel very comfortable with her and also showed that she cared about making sure that we were going to get a product that we were very happy with. She was extremely prepared and professional throughout the process. During the events that we hired her for (our wedding an additional event) she was prompt, professional, friendly, and actively took pictures. She also made sure to check in with my husband and I a couple times to make sure that there weren't any additional photos that we wanted. Her communication and timeline in getting our pictures back to us was excellent. We were incredibly happy to see the pictures from our wedding. They were beautiful and if we were to get married all over again we would reach out to Manali again in a heart beat. Thanks to Manali for giving us memories that will last us a lifetime! More...

Manali is an excellent photographer with a phenomenal eye for color and composition. For anyone getting married in or around SF she is an outstanding choice with great packaged rates. My wife and I hired Manali for our summer San Francisco City Hall wedding, and have been very happy working with her. The years of experience photographing weddings in the Bay Area, and in City Hall specifically, show in her professional interactions and results. With so much complexity on the wedding day, Manali quickly instilled confidence that everything photo related was in good hands through her clear communication over the weeks leading up to the event. After our City Hall ceremony we had several locations across the city for leisure and photos with guests before our reception (including the Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Park, and a Hornblower Classic Cable Car tour). Manali was equally adept at capturing wonderful images at these additional locales, blending skilled efficiency with spur-of-the-moment creativity. More...

If you read no other part of this review, then at least know that Manali is AMAZING and we would hire her again in a second. When we got engaged about a year and a half ago, the first thing I told my then-fiancé is we needed to book our venue, and then find an amazing photographer. Manali was the very first vendor that we booked, and we are so beyond happy that we found her. All those months ago, I reached out to her looking for pricing after seeing some of her beautiful photos posted on Instagram. She had shot previously at the Outdoor Art Club, and I loved the style of photography that she had from her website. She was very prompt and friendly over email and set up an in person meeting for all three of us out in Oakland. In that original meeting, she brought a few albums for couples she had worked with before, and she asked lots of questions to help determine what our eventual timeline would be, if she would need an assistant, and generally what we were looking for in a photographer. She was so warm, very easy to talk and ask questions to, and she even bought us some beignets! We left that meeting feeling super confident, and we were spot on. Our wedding was well over a year out, but come February of last year, we did our engagement shoot with Manali out on Mt. Tamalpais. Naturally, it ended up being the windiest and coldest day of the year probably. I remember Manali called that morning asking if we were still down with that location, suggesting a few backups in case I was worried about my hair or something. She was very thoughtful about things, but we still agreed to go out to Mt. Tam. My husband and I are both kind of awkward, we're not good at getting our pictures taken at all, but she made it feel super natural and not awkward. She had us laughing and smiling and coached us on how to move so she could catch a natural shot. And the poor thing was out there freezing her hands off the whole time! The pictures of course came out amazing, and we used them for our save the dates and for decorations at the wedding. After that, almost an entire year passes. Towards the end of last year/beginning of this year, Manali and I got back in touch to start prepping for the wedding. She continued to be super organized, sending us some spreadsheets where we could share info on our day of timeline, what family members and bridal party folks we wanted in photos, any special shot requests, etc. All this kept her super organized day of, which was so helpful when I was trying to wrangle my family for pictures. The whole week leading up it rained heavily, and day-of it was looking a little sketch. We originally wanted to do our first look shots in a wooded park that ended up all muddy, but Manali was very easy with switching locations back to the venue and staying on a new track. She and her assistant Zoë were amazing all day, capturing all those special moments and being flies on the wall. She also stressed that if at any point in the night I wanted a photo, just grab her and she'd make it happen. We got really lucky and it didn't end up raining really, just a small drizzle right as we finished our vows, but you'd never even know, Manali got all the best photos. Most importantly for us, she is an amazing candid photographer. The staged/posed photos with the bridal party are wonderful of course, but the reason we loved her style is because of the candid shots she had in her portfolio. The reception shots of all of our guests just living their best lives on the dance floor are some of my favorites, and two of my unforgettable moments of the night she caught beautifully: my dad realizing what song we were dancing to and laughing which I will cherish forever, and shots of me laughing hysterically at my maid of honor/best friend's hilarious speech. After all the dust settled, Manali sent us little previews while she edited, and about six weeks after the wedding we got the link to the gallery with all of our beautiful photos. Her website is easy to use for downloading, and she makes it super easy to share with family. So, very very very long story short, we are so grateful to Manali and her assistant, and so glad that we chose her all the way back in October or November 2017. You'll cherish your wedding photos no matter what, but it helps when they are genuinely really well shot. Thank you so much Manali! More...

We hired Manali Anne as our wedding photographer for our wedding in the Presidio.  I originally interviewed Manali because she photographed our friends' wedding and their photos turned out incredible.  We also really liked that she had wedding albums with a diversity in couples, religions/types of weddings, and she had taken lots of photos at the Presidio before so she had a good sense of the space and places to shoot.  We had a Hindu and Christian ceremony so it was important to us that our photographer had at least a preliminary grasp of both ceremonies so they knew when there were important moments. On the day of, Manali was great and kept us both at ease.  She had a very calm energy which was very much appreciated the day of.  She also was somehow able to get all seven of my mom's siblings and their families into a photo and looking at the camera without yelling which I think is a particularly impressive feat! We just got our pictures back, and they are amazing! I cannot believe that Manali and Billy were able to take so many photos and capture so many moments and make us look so incredible.  There are so many beautiful photos that I am astounded.  Overall I could not have been happier with our choice to book Manali and recommend her highly to anyone looking for a photographer. I would hire Manali again in a heartbeat. From our first meeting, she was thoughtful, helpful, and attentive. She was full of advice, suggestions, and helpful questions before we even hired her. And working with her only got better and better. Everything about the way she works is very clear and concrete. It's obvious that she is a total pro and knows her way around a wedding like nobody else. A few weeks out from the wedding, when I was just about ready to tear out all my hair and elope, she was very patient with me and talked me through the timeline (even helping me plan the timeline with some of my other vendors). At the wedding she put everyone at ease. From the big family shots to the photos of just the two of us, her instructions were superb. Clear. Simple. But never pushy or obtrusive. And the photos themselves turned out amazing. She captured everything that we wanted and made us look really, really good at the same time. I can't recommend her more highly. More...

We hired Manali for our wedding in April, 2018. We picked Manali as our wedding photographer because we liked natural style of her photographs. Of the examples of her work we saw online, we liked that there was no weird post-processing or funny lighting alterations. Also, the subjects of her photos looked very comfortable and like they were genuinely having a good time.  We did an engagement session a few months prior to our wedding. This was really useful, as it gave us the chance to get used to working with Manali and getting used to having our pictures taken (good practice for the wedding).Manali was a joy to work with - she is warm and down to earth and also very calm (a bonus during the crazy of the wedding!). She clearly has a vision for how she wants the final photos to turn out and she was skilled at guiding us as how to "pose" so we looked natural. She has a good eye for composition. She was delightful at our wedding and our guests also liked working with her. My husband and I are fairly awkward when it comes to standing in front of a camera, but Manali put us totally at ease, and we absolutely love our wedding photos. In terms of pre-wedding preparation, Manali is great. She has a really detailed worksheet that ensures you don't miss any crucial shots that you want, and she is totally gracious under pressure when it comes to wrangling excited family members and tired toddlers. I also really appreciated the way she used her expertise to ask us detailed questions before the day to ensure that the timeline would be perfect, giving us plenty of time for all the photos we wanted. The previews we've seen so far have blown our socks off. We seriously can't wait to see the rest of the pictures. When we first met Manali and she showed us her work, I instantly fell in love. It was so pure, candid and raw. She was able to truly capture the moments between the couples and show their emotions through the lens while being very artistic in her shots. We did a first look at Pier 14 with Manali and got all the family photos out of the way before the ceremony. She had great posing ideas but what I loved most was how she worked so well with what we were doing - for example, I placed my arm around my husband as a kind of joke, but Manali loved the way it looked and how it depicted "us". So we went with it. She's also incredibly patient which comes in handy when you have tired children in the party. I could rave for pages about how much we love Manali. This review is long overdue! Manali Anne did our engagement and wedding photography last September, and she did such an amazing job! ! I remember spending many hours looking for a photographer whose engagement and wedding photos matched the style my partner and I were looking for (i.e. light, natural, and authentic) as well as our standards for professionalism and affordability. Manali stood heads above the rest based on her beautiful portfolio, warm demeanor, professionalism, and affordability. We had an initial meet-up with Manali where she shared some of her portfolio, her approach to shooting different events, and her pricing. We found her to be friendly, easy-going, and enthusiastic about getting to know us. When my fiancee (now husband) had a freak accident and broke his foot, Manali was very understanding and flexible throughout the process of scheduling and doing our engagement photo shoot. Although my husband was only partially-mobile during the shoot (poor guy was crutching around between shots), Manali did a great job making the shoot fun and provided some helpful tips for the wedding day. Before our big day, Manali asked us detailed questions about we wanted our wedding photos to look like, and she really listened and delivered. Our wedding took place at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley. Manali and the second shooter, Praise, did a phenomenal job with our first look photos, which we took at the botanical gardens just next-door to the Brazil Room. She captured some seriously magical moments during our first look amongst the Redwoods! We opted to do photos with family before the ceremony so we could spend more time with everyone during cocktail hour. Manali did a good job of directing family in and out of various shots and getting all the requested combinations, including our two dogs who took part in the ceremony.Manali and Praise also got some fantastic candid shots of us and our loved ones during the ceremony and reception; they really captured the essence of how our wedding day felt, and the love and happiness that surrounded us on that incredible day! Bottom line, we highly recommend Manali's services. We absolutely love our wedding day photos, and we had a blast working with her!!!! More...

Manali was everything my husband and I looked for in a wedding photographer:  professional, easy going, and talented. I think that meeting your photographer in person will tell you a lot about how he/she will be on your wedding day.  We first met Manali at the Love/Make Wedding Expo in SF.  Talking to her was like talking to an old friend.  She showed us some of her work and later my now husband I and looked up more of her work online.  We were really impressed.  What we loved most about Manalii's photos were the incredible candid shots she captured.  You could really feel the emotion in those still moments. We decided to hire Manali for our engagement photo shoot and our wedding day (June 2016).Manali made my husband and I feel at ease during our engagement photo shoot.  We felt really awkward kissing in front of a camera and kept laughing.  Manali was able to perfectly capture those moments and those pictures of us cracking up as we were about to kiss were some of my favorite.  Throughout the entire process Manali was very professional and timely with her emails and phone calls.  What I appreciated about her is that she would send us reminder emails about things we needed to do (like send her our timeline, make a list of the formal shots we wanted to get, etc.).  When you're planning a wedding you have so many things to think about and remember, it was very helpful to have her reminders.  I've been to weddings where the photographer was in your face, dictating shots and constantly telling you what to do.   I knew I did not want a photographer like that.  On the actual day, Manali was professional, flexible, and easy to work with.  Lastly, the end result - our wedding photos - were so amazing.  I think she took about 800 + pictures and I had to narrow it down to 90 for our wedding album.  It was very difficult to narrow it down to say the least.  We will be sure to keep her number for any future photo needs. We highly recommend you hire this professional. More...

As others have already said far more eloquently than I could, she was fantastic all around.  Responsive, accommodating, on time, and of course, took great pictures.  She was referred by a friend - whose opinion I highly trust - and see that I was correct in doing so...(and gratified to see I was not the only person who had this kind of positive experience).  Overall, while I haven't worked with a TON of event photographers, I feel confident in saying you're not likely to find someone better than Manali. Manali is a phenomenal photographer!!!  I just got married on June 1, 2013, just a little over one month ago now and she rocked my bride world!  I don't even know where to begin.Prior to our wedding she met with us live and set us up for success on our big day.  We felt so comfortable with her already and confident that she would be the perfect wedding photographer for such a special occasion.  Then she took the time to visit our wedding site prior to our wedding weekend to scope out where she would take our photos.  This was almost a 2 hour drive for her.  Awesome! On our wedding day she captured all of the special moments and unique shots.  She got beautiful shots of all of our friends and family and fantastic shots of my husband and I.  One thing that I especially appreciated was the way that she was assertive and led everyone to take the photos we wanted.  I know I was completely overwhelmed and really needed her to take charge, and she totally did.Now she has already created the most beautiful and touching blog AND she has gotten all of our photos out to us.  That is so satisfying to have such a quick turn around while the wedding buzz is still fresh.I highly recommend Manali.  She is professional and extremely talented.  Thank you Manali, you are a Rock Star! Manali photographed our wedding back in September, as well as an engagement shoot in August. She put us at ease in the one-on-one shoots, and took some amazing photos. She was a pleasure to work with -- always showed up on time, promptly responded to emails, helped with "day-of" timeline planning, and was very flexible: she even took a detour while she was in SoCal to photograph us in Santa Monica! Her rates were excellent too, especially when you consider the quality of her work. We also had a 2nd photographer on our wedding day, arranged by Manali, who took excellent photos as well. More...

We were so grateful to have Manali photograph our wedding last September in Point Reyes. She was incredibly flexible before, during and after the wedding. We appreciated that she spent time talking with us before the big day to be sure we communicated what moments we wanted her to capture. She responded to our emails quickly and answered any questions we had about the process and timeline. On the day of the wedding, her calm, responsive style was wonderful and she snapped away with genuine enthusiasm. She was incredibly professional and assertively kept us on track to be sure we would get the full family photos and the perfect shots during sunset. When she sent us the final product, we couldn't be more pleased. She truly captured the event and all the moments we wanted to remember and all the moments that we missed. She covered a range of styles from the artistic to the traditional which gave us so much to choose from. We especially loved her candid photos of our family and friends. We highly recommend Manali! Manali did a great job for us at our wedding! She made sure to come down to the event location before the wedding to check it out and figure out which shots would look good, which really put our minds at ease since she had never been there before. She was extremely professional from start to finish and was able to provide us our pictures in a timely manner after the wedding. We loved our pictures, and I would highly recommend her especially because of the quality of her work and the reasonability of her pricing which was great for this bride on a budget  :) More...

We were recommended to Manali by a friend and film/photography lighting professional familiar with her photographic knowledge (film & digital) and consummate technical skills. He assured us that Manali is a first-rate photographer. And, we are immensely happy and impressed with the fine quality and artistic content of the photography Manali produced for our wedding party. Her sense of composition, her beautiful lighting (in a challenging location) and the wonderful and varied types of action photos and portraits she lovingly snapped ---  captured the emotion, energy and beauty of our affair.Communicating with Manali always felt comfortable and easy: from our initial contact over the phone and in-person consultation to our photographic outing with her on wedding party day and the reception itself.  She patiently listened to our needs and expectations throughout the process and helped guide us in finding an approach that suited who we are and how we imagined our event in pictures.Manali is both a gifted photographer and an extremely personable individual. She was lovely in dealing with all of our guests, as well as the people managing the site. She possesses a personality and temperament extremely well suited to and effective in dealing with people on such an important and memorable day. We think her flexibility, observational skills and personal style enabled her to capture the emotional heart of our affair and her photos possess a depth that you don't often see in wedding photography. Finally, Manali is flexible and fun to be around; and we are amazed that she managed to get the best of us in our pre-party photos - not an easy feat for folks over 50! My husband and I highly recommend Ms. Sibthorpe, as a top special event/wedding photographer. She is immensely talented and a person whom you will greatly appreciate collaborating with for your very special occasion. More...

Manali photographed my wedding back in August, and she was truly a pleasure to work with. She was laid back in a comfortable way, but also professional. I won a free engagement photo session with her through a wedding site, and that was really a great experience. We got to know each other a bit, and she got a sense of how my then fiance and I interact with each other, which I think is valuable when it comes to the actual wedding. Our engagement shoot was so much fun that we decided to hire her as our wedding photographer.I also consulted with her beforehand, to give her a sense of what we were looking for, and she really put me at ease through the whole process. She made sure to follow up with us when she needed something, and was always very responsive when I contacted her, but she also let us do our thing with the wedding planning and didn't crowd us at all. She was really great. When it came to our big day, she was on time and cheerful and just so fun to have around. She made sure to get the most important photos on our list, and she also got some great candid shots. I'm so happy we chose her to photograph our wedding. The photographer is one of the most important vendors in the wedding planning, in my opinion, because you will have those photos forever, and I don't regret our choice at all. I highly recommend her! Manali was such a joy to work with!  She shot our engagement shoot as well as our wedding.    She is a very gifted and talented photographer and it shows in her work.  When we did our engagement shoot, it was our first time meeting her in person.  Neither myself or my husband are "easily at ease" in front of a camera and she made us very comfortable and was very easy to work with.  She produced amazing pictures in a very timely fashion and we were very happy with them.  On the day of our wedding, she was constantly around, constantly shooting and we hardly noticed she was there.  After being so happy with our engagement pictures, we were so excited to see the ones from the wedding.  A few short weeks later, she posted a blog with some of our pictures and we were thrilled beyond belief!  The pictures really captured the day perfectly and told the story of our wedding.  Currently we are working on choosing the pictures we would like in the album she will be making for us and it is so hard to narrow it down.  Absolutely fabulous work!!!!! Manali could not have been a better photographer for our engagement photos and wedding in December 2012. She was professional, on time, flexible, calm, directed us quickly, efficiently (and gently! ), and went above and beyond the entire night to make sure we got all the shots we wanted. Even our extended family was very impressed with her work, and her ability to capture everything we wanted throughout the night without being "in the way" or disrupting any of the events. When it came time to do posed formals, she made sure we looked great. When it came time for wedding events (cake cutting, bouquet toss), she made sure we got the images we wanted while still letting us feel natural; when it came time for our couple's portraits, she captured candids that really told our story. The whole process was easy and fun, even for a super-specific bride like me!I will absolutely recommend her services for someone looking for really beautiful, artistic, fine-art inspired shots, while also getting all the "wedding images" you typically ask for. She gives her clients the best options and versions of what they want, and will suggest things you didn't even know you wanted! We got way too many "framers" to choose from! She is talented, accommodating, friendly, very professional, and a pleasure to work with. You will be absolutely thrilled with her service and her product!! More...

Her photography services were reasonably priced. She took a wide range of candid, artistic, and group photos over a span of 6 hours. She knew how to make us feel comfortable while taking great pictures. Thanks to her our wedding is now well-documented! More...

I heard about Manali through a mutual friend and after perusing her website decided she would be a great photographer for our somewhat DIY wedding. She was such a pleasure to work with, she was very responsive and always kept in touch. We planned a trip up to San Francisco a couple months before our big day and Manali shot our engagement photos in the rain! She was such a trooper and seemed inspired by the weather, saying the photos would come out beautifully, and they did! The day of our wedding, manali came to our hotel room to get photos of my bridesmaids and me getting ready before she made her way over to the wedding location. I was so appreciative of her taking that extra step to really capture our entire day.The whole day went so smoothly, it often felt like Manali wasn't even there, and then she would just pop out of nowhere to capture an important moment. She shot hundreds and hundred of beautiful photos, and made sure to photograph each item I requested previous to the day. The quality and art of her photos are just exquisite. So many of our family and friends commented on how fabulous our photos were. We are now collaborating on our wedding album, and I am so excited to see what she has been working on because I really trust her opinion and creative insight. I highly recommend Manali as a wedding photographer. She is very professional, talented, creative and affordable! More...
