Great bbq if you're willing to spend the money! The corn bread is a little weird not my favorite but then again I have McDonald' s taste buds on 5 star Michelin restaurant budget you know what I'm saying. The mac and cheese tho get that!! Get it when you're sad...get it when you're happy...get it when you're craving Mac and cheese and get it when you're not it's that freaking good!!! More...

I heard this place was good. I don't think they belong in the same sentence. Ordered out front. Chef said it'll be 20 mins. Long story short. The food wasn't good at all. Pretty amateur type stuff. I've tasted water with more flavor then them beans. Brisket seemed like it was old. Hardly any bark or smoke flavor. Pulled pork, was so dry, I thought I was eating turkey for a second. If you're reading this, take my advice and just don't go. For the chef, season something. This was a pretty big disappointment. I'll never visit again. More...

My girlfriend and I ordered the brisket, ribs and the sausage (which I think was jalapeño cheddar) for our meats. All of it was delicious and I didn't even use the barbecue or hot sauces I'd pulled out of the fridge. Probably the best bbq we've ever had in our lives. For sides, we had beans, both kinds of coleslaw(one vinegar, one mayo based), and street corn salad. All of it was delicious. The corn salad was bright and refreshing. The beans were firm but creamy and sharp. So good. The Mayo coleslaw wasn't too mayo-y or too sweet. The vinegar slaw was good and had some spice to it. We ordered two devilled eggs (they were like $1 each so we couldn't resist). They were nice and creamy. Tanginess was nice and the pancetta or bacon or whatever added some nice saltiness. Corn bread was great. I usually reheat delivery/takeout so after putting it in the air fryer, it had a nice crispy crust and a soft inside. We also placed a second delivery order for Mac & Cheese and we did not regret it one bit. It was cheezy but not thin cheesey. The pasta was nice and firm and not too soft. Perfectly al dente. Best Mac & cheese I've ever had. When they say "trust us, you'll love it" because the ingredients change seasonally, they were not lying! Get it. It's delicious. We are currently planning our next order. We're thinking about trying the pork and the chicken. We're definitely still getting brisket, beans, coleslaw and mac & cheese though. I don't think we could eat their food without getting that. Macona, you guys rock! More...

Found this place on yelp but he reviews really steered us in the wrong direction. Asked for mashed potatoes and got some loaded smash baked potato thing that was undercooked and had no seasoning. The baked beans were tasteless and not tender. The pork didn't have much taste but at least it wasn't dry. The brisket was the best thing I got from here. Ribs were just ok. Pretty disappointing and definitely will not return. More...

Horrible !!! Ordered mashed potatoes and got a baked potato. It was hard and had no flavor! The cornbread was ok but burnt. The picante slaw is just spicy no actual flavor and super dry. Beans were horrible no flavor didn't they just look like them were straight from a can!!! The ribs were super salty! The crack sauce was a joke lol we ended up using store bought bbq sauce just to try and eat something since we paid for this overpriced food. Wouldn't go back! More...

I've eaten here a few times, but won't be going back! The food is pricy and just ok IMO (although that's a matter of taste, I guess, because my girlfriend loved it), but according to the health department, they dump dirty mop water into the same sink where they improperly thaw their meat, store raw meat above fresh produce (salmonella, anyone? ) and don't fix their screens so they have flies all over the kitchen. I wasn't overly impressed with the food anyway, and now I don't think it's worth the risk. More...

Brisket is a 4.5, cornbread is a 4.5, ribs 3.2(little fatty for my taste). Chefs are creative and really passionate. They miss me on a lot of their overly asian inspired dishes but I respect it. Would probably just rather go to an asian place. They execute the best on brisket and burnt ends in my opinion. After trying a bundle of options, I'd say those are the sweet spot. Also can't hate on businesses seeking to try new things. This place is a staple in the community and will be successful for many years to come. More...

Happened upon this place during the early takeout phase of Covid19 on a weekend they did the burnt ends cheesesteak. It was a life changing moment. I tell everyone I know not to sleep on this sandwich. Since then we've tried a few more items including their wings, brisket combo platters, ribs and some of their breakfast options. I literally stalk their Instagram page to see what their daily specials are because they are always so different and unique combinations. Also, don't sleep on the sauces! The liquid crack is so good and goes on everything. Even bought some of the sauce to have at home. Hands down a must visit if in the area. Worth crossing the bridge for the burnt ends cheesesteak but order early, they usually sell out. More...

After being teased with the tasty photos from Instagram of daily specials, I have gone so far above trying to order food. I've had the food and yes, it is great . It's not cheap but it is delish. I just wish I could order this shiz.During covid phase 2, my guy and I drove there and you still cannot speak to a live person. Doors shut so we called, no answer but did leave a message. A person did walk up and go in the back (most likely 3rd party). We called again and no one answered so we left. No one ever called back. Sooo...on another day I tried to do lunch. Emailed them since the website doesn't have an order link. There is a cart that doesn't work though. Mmmm, 'Kay. The owner emails me back that they do not return calls and orders are through the phone (I already know that was a sucker punch) or door dash. No indication of "Hey, let me know your phone number I'll call you or any of this." No problem, I'll try another time.3rd try: I go on Door Dash and it's easily a $40 bill. I order the special, a platter and side. I get a confirmation on my phone and boom--we're good, right?!? Wrong! I wait over an hour and then pull up Door Dash. My order was cancelled but through e-mail so I never even knew. It jus says that it couldn't be furfilled. I emailed the owner again just out of courtesy to hint that the ordering shit sucks. No response (yet). We're done here. You would be too. More...

I got the brisket sandwich.  It comes with coleslaw.  Two coleslaws to choose from a mayo-based or vinegar-based. My new friend at the counter suggested mayo-based with brisket (vinegar-based for pork).  It comes on a round roll.  It had a good amount of sliced brisket.  The sauce has a nice little zing to it.  The brisket was tender and had very good meat/fat/rub ratios.  Very good stop. To say I'm disappointed in this place would be an absolute understatement. We have a friend that lives in Collingswood and highly recommends this place. We were in the area tonight so we figured why not. I called to confirm they were open due to everything that's going on. I was told they were open.We arrived around 30 minutes later. Knowing they only take phone orders, we went in and grabbed a menu. It was 7:29pm. I was handed a menu and told they aren't taking anymore orders for the evening. Dumbfounded and shocked I asked why. I was told because she's done and closing soon. The hours posted are until 9pm. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Terrible customer service if I can even call it that.... More...

I could give them more stars, if I could. Been craving ribs and was super satisfied!!!! Ribs were out of this world!! Delicious cooked kale greens and their Nino slaw (with mayo). Cornbread was super moist and the loaded macona fries/tots were crazy good. I think it came with a sauce for the fries and extra bbq sauce but none of it needed it. (I tried and they were also yummies.) Would definitely order again!! More...

Very eager to support local businesses during these trying times (as I write this, we're still in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic), and Macona BBQ was a place I wanted to try for a while since moving to Collingswood a few months ago. I placed an order for brisket, along with kale-greens and spicy coleslaw for take out. Man, it did not disappoint. I've had real southern BBQ before, and I would put this brisket up and beyond anything I've enjoyed. Moist, delicious; the kale was rich and spicy, and the coleslaw was way better than your typical 'filler' side. The cornbread too tasted extra special. Highly recommend, will definitely be back. Macona BBQ offers barbecue at a reasonable price point. The quality is decent. My boyfriend and I stopped by on a Saturday night. It wasn't too busy, but the staff was definitely overwhelmed and took a while to service us -- no big deal since we weren't in a rush. We ordered the 3-meat platter, wings, and roasted Brussels sprouts. The food tasted ok for the price point it came at. There were bits that were overly charred and salty and some texture that came off underwhelming. Definitely not the most exquisite barbecue, but it was tasty. Their homemade BBQ sauces were limited, but they were pleasantly mild and complemented the meats well. The cornbread was amazing! I loved how soft, pillows and rich it was. Mashed potatoes were absolutely creamy, buttery and packed with flavor. The specials were the wings and Brussels sprouts which didn't disappoint. They were the star of the show, packed with flavor and crisp texture. The restaurant is super homey and intimate. There's a couple tables, some seating by the window, and a long high-top that could seat 12. More...

This place is legit. First off, they have a creative take on BBQ and their specials are always on point. Ribs and brisket have been my favorite meats so far, but it' s all really really good. After such an awesome lunch a few weeks back, we opted to hold our Company holiday party here. While not the norm to go to a BBQ place, this was the BEST PARTY we ever had.  Every person raved for days about the food. The owners closed the restaurant JUST FOR US. Incredible!! Service was off the charts...presentation was family style just as I had wanted. And PERFECT...The food was so good that everyone asked to bring home the leftovers. Since we planned for extra food and MACONA's staff absolutely nailed it, not 1 person left without a take home bag. They were scrapping the bowls into their take out boxes.  DO NOT MISS this restaurant if you want outstanding service but more importantly EXCELLENT FOOD...
