Custom Cake Order for Dayghter's 3rd Birthday was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL & DELICIOUS!!! The customer service is very refreshing. Phone calls, emails, any questions answered to get the order just perfect. The price was more than reasonable. And we love stopping by for a sweet treat----the amaretto cake balls are my FAVORITE! But, all the flavors are fantastic. This cake is "Hummingbird" which is cinnamon cake with pineapple & bananas. The Kids (and Adults lol) LOVED it! I ordered a four tier cake and the cake was absolutely beautiful. It was delivered in a timely manner and Tasted amazing. I’m giving four stars because I felt like the customer service was lacking . Things felt a bit unorganized and I was actually worried at one point I may not have a cake because no one would call me back when they had been closed for a week and it specifically said to leave a message for a call back. I love sweets, so I am always on a quest to find a nice jewel somewhere. I came across this one by pure, luck! OMG, I got myself a red velvet cupcake, my hubby a cookies and cream cupcake and a half dozen cookies. I bit into the cupcake and fell in love! It was moist, sweet (but not over baring), light, melt in your mouth classic red velvet taste and not lacking flavor. I have had a lot of cakes/cupcakes but I would have to say this one was up there in top 5 category!!! The cream cheese frosting was creamy and delicious with the crunch of the sprinkles...AMAZING! Also the cupcakes are so inviting with the beautiful paper their wrapped in! A lot of love goes into their products and you can taste it in every bit. Love Sweet Things (ME TOO) what a name, so we decided to try a birthday cake here. They do custom cakes with 2 weeks notice, it's a small shop at high traffic intersection kinda have to look to see it sandwiched in between other shops, but once you open the door the bakery goodness awakens your senses and then you are presented with cupcakes and cookies in a small display area, if you Love sweet things then this would be your O WOW moment, selection is simple, display tempting, and the service outstanding. I didn't think to get the ladies name that helped us I was overwhelmed with anticipation of that 1st taste but she was outstanding we ordered a simple 10" cake called the Black Tie Affair Chocolate and vanilla cake alternated layers to create the best of both worlds,this affair is also marbled with creamy chocolate bliss and vanilla buttercream.(as described on their website) and was absolutely delicious cake was baked perfectly in my opinion moistness was spot on, layering of the flavors pure sweetness to the palate, the design and the little bowties on the top were shaped nicely and it modeled nicely for the camera's.
In short I Love sweet things bakery with short notice they went above and beyond our expectations the pricing is comparable and reasonable to the many other Bakeries and Bakers we have enjoyed in the area just remember it is SWEET, their website is well done and they are on most social platforms. The shop is small and can get crowded quick when I picked up Saturday their were 4-5 people their ordering cupcakes and it was tight they have 1 small table inside to sit. This is by far one of my favorite, if not favorite bakery in DFW! Such friendly service, and their cupcakes are the best in town. Other bakeries I find the cupcakes are too surgery and lack taste. Love Sweet Things Bakery cupcakes have just the right amount of sweetness without going overboard. They have such a unique variety of flavors to choose from. I ordered a harly davidson cake to be made for my husbands 50th birthday party. It was an excellent cake. And the staff was kind and very helpful. I marvel at the deliciousness!The long story:Walked in on my lunch hour and asked if they could make a cake that afternoon. Yes, they could! I wasn't sure what flavor, so they showed me their list. So many! I said my son loves carrot cake, but I wanted to try something new. Could they recommend? Yes they could, how about hummingbird cake? It's a pineapple, banana, spice cake with cream cheese frosting which sounded like a winner to me, so let's do it. ...Oh, and let me take one of these other cupcakes you have with me right now. :) Yummiest lunch dessert ever.Picked up the cake after 5, and it looked nice. The writing was clear and fine, so that you could see the personal artistry of the handwriting. I liked that. Took it to a family gathering where no one had heard of the flavor. Wanted to get a custom birthday cake from here but was told it had to be two weeks prior instead of the week before when I called.
