Where do we begin? Meeting Vanessa and Little Black Book was like a breath of fresh air. Coming off the heels of a terrible planner, we had honestly been scarred of planners but we knew that we needed the help. She was referred to us and when we met her we knew immediately that we were making the right decision. Vanessa has this keen sense for detail a great style a wonderful understanding and to be quite frank she knows what she is doing. It’s a lot of people out here who call themselves planners, But they are not they don’t care about what your needs are and they don’t have a great way of execution. Vanessa has great ideas but she does not push or impose her own things. She does make suggestions but leaves it to you! She delivers what you want and more. My wedding was a vision but she made it more of a dream that I never knew I had she exceeded my husband and my expectations. When there was conflict she handled it when they were issues with the vendors she handled it. Anything and everything that I needed positive or negative she was able to take care of it all. Everyone thinks they’re a planner but they are not they don’t care about what your needs are and they don’t have a great way of execution. Vanessa has great ideas she delivers what you want and more.
Oh and she has a HUGE roladex of vendors and is able to make a budget work! She communicates very well! She is just amazing! I’d recommend little black book to anyone for any event! More...

We worked with Jacqueline, and she was really great! She helped us for hte month up to the wedding, and created a day-of timeline for us. Vanessa was a really excellent day of coordinator for our early May wedding! As a bride to be I was a little nervous with the few weeks leading up to the wedding and Vanessa was so accommodating and patient with me. She answered my emails/texts promptly and was always very pleasant to work with. Wow, where can I even begin? Vanessa was the best money my wife (!!) and I have ever spent. Backstory- we’re both physicians who got engaged 4. 5 years before our wedding and waited 3 years to start planning because we are busy, lazy, and had only very vague visions when it came to planning. Vanessa came along and not only did she make our dreams come true, she turned them from very blurry, nonspecific dreams into clear, perfect reality.

She is extremely organized: we told her at the beginning that we wouldn’t be good at keeping on task, what with our busy schedules. She kept us on task and everything was always done on time, in spite of us often dragging our feet or having limited availability. This was often because:

She goes above and beyond. She would run to the marriage license bureau for us, pick up all the alcohol for us, return the leftovers, and a bunch of other things that I can’t remember because Vanessa just took care of it. She clearly worked nights and weekends for us, which as doctors, we can appreciate.

She was super flexible: she met us wherever, whenever. She was ok with Venmo for lots of things which made things super easy. When we would decline the first set of options (venue, photo/video, flowers), she would look for more and not make us feel bad/guilty about it.

She is a great person: Vanessa really became our friend in this process. When other people stressed us out about not knowing our colors yet, etc, she reassured us. On the day of the wedding, she ran a smooth, but tight ship. Our photographer and videographer said she was the best wedding planner THEY’D ever worked with- she kept them updated as to the schedule because she knew photos and video were important to us, which our photo/video people said not all wedding planners do. All of our families loved her.

We really gave Vanessa very little in the way of direction or help, and she still gave us our dream wedding. At the end of the night, I (half) jokingly thanked her for letting us attend her wedding. In short, I could not recommend a better wedding planner in this life or the next. I’m almost regretting writing this review since we are actively handing out Vanessa’s info to everyone we know getting married and I want her to be available on their dates. She really is the best. I reached out to Little Black Book Events to book my small wedding. The added element was that we wanted to have it in two weeks from our call. Vanessa was more than up for the challenge. She got to work with finding a venue and vendors to make our day special. She kept me in the loop throughout the entire process and thought of things that we had missed. My wedding guests were so surprised to learn we planned the wedding with such short notice and so organized. The florist she suggested exceeded my expectations with my bouquet, and officiant was personable and very realistic for marriage values.

Working with Vanessa at Little Black Book Events was the best decision we made during the entire wedding process. Vanessa was our day of coordinator, and I have said time and time again that hiring her was the best money we spent on the wedding. Initially, we weren’t going to hire a day of coordinator, but after hearing many times how much easier it made the day, we looked into it.

We found Vanessa through a recommendation from our wedding venue. After meeting her for coffee, we knew she was a great fit. Vanessa is so easy to work with. She is professional, easy going, but gets so much. I found her particularly helpful because I was the first of my friends to get married, and was completely uneducated about the smaller details of a wedding. Vanessa was able to answer all of our questions about the process, gave us creative ideas to personalize the day, and served as a wealth of knowledge.

Closer to the day, Vanessa gathered all of our vendor contracts and reached out about arrival times and other organizational details. She served as the point of contact for all of these people which was unbelievably helpful. On the day, Vanessa did all the behind the scenes work to make sure the day went off without a hitch. If we had any kind of issue, we were able to tell Vanessa about it and it was taken care of. Having Vanessa there lowered the stress level, and allowed everyone to concentrate on enjoying themselves. If she hadn’t been there we would have been consumed by all the small things that no one ever tells you about. From making sure the DJ is set up in the correct place, to setting up the welcome table, Vanessa saved us time and memories. If we didn’t have Vanessa, those smaller details would have rested with me or my mother. Instead, we were able to enjoy the day as a celebration, not a checklist of tasks to get done. We hired LBB for "day-of" wedding planning services, and it was one of the best wedding-related decisions that we made. Vanessa (the owner) and her assistant were an integral part of our wedding day. I am an extremely organized person, and didn’t know if I needed "day-of" planning help. Thankfully, my parents encouraged me to look into it, and I ended up choosing LBB because of Vanessa's great attitude and her reasonable prices. In the end, she did everything possible to make our wedding day seamless and enjoyable, and I can’t thank her enough.

We started working with Vanessa a month before the wedding, and she asked all the right questions to make sure that every detail was in place (including providing several small things we hadn't thought of like a card box and cake cutter). On the day of the wedding, Vanessa and her assistant really went above-and-beyond to make sure everything came together seamlessly. For example, they made multiple trips to the florist to ensure our flowers were as fresh as possible. They set up the venue exactly as I requested. Throughout the reception, they were there for anything we needed, including getting us our favorite appetizers, helping with schedule changes, and even getting the temperature turned down when we all got too hot from dancing. At the end of the reception, my husband and I were able to go to the afterparty, while Vanessa stayed behind to cleanup everything up. She even brought our wedding decorations and catering leftovers back to our apartment that night!

It was great to be able to rely on Vanessa, and know that all of my plans would be executed to perfection even if I wasn’t there to do it myself. I spent so long planning the wedding, and if it weren’t for Vanessa, I think I would have spent the entire day worried about logistics. Your wedding day will be more hectic than you expect, so do yourself a favor and get someone to help. Again, I can’t thank Vanessa enough for her help and I highly recommend her. More...

Little Black Book helped to plan my baby shower and I couldn't be happier with the results! From the start of the planning (which I really had no part in), she really listened to what I wanted for my unconventional, non-girly, coed shower.

One of the first potential stresses for planning came when my host and I were trying to find a location. There were too many people to have the shower in someone's house, but I didn't want my host to spend a ton of money on a venue. Little Black Book provided a list of different venues that filled my needs and helped us select the best one to accommodate a large family, friends, lots of food, and just a modern space where we could all eat and talk. I also made it clear early on that I did not want a lot of baby shower games. The few games we ended up playing were fun for all. I was also impressed by the floral arrangements (which we hadn't discussed but which she clearly chose based on my personality) and the diverse choices of food and drinks.

Honestly, I could go on and on about the great experience I had with Little Black Book. There are many planners that can give you a great end result, but LBB takes great planning a step further. She excels at getting to know a client and really listening to them. She will make your event truly unique without any stress to you. At a time when life can be really stressful preparing for the arrival of a baby, she was a blessing. I was able to enjoy my family and friends as we prepare to welcome our little boy. I can't say enough about how helpful Vanessa was on my daughter's wedding day. Vanessa made it possible for my husband and I, as well as the bride and groom, to completely enjoy the wedding day. When my now wife and I set out to plan our wedding, we were one of those couples who thought hiring a planner was unnecessary. We had 6 months to pull it off. We fancy ourselves as reasonably intelligent and financially responsible people and we thought that was plenty of time.

Fast forward 4 months. The stress began to mount and panic had set in. We broke down and decided to hire a day-of coordinator. Better late than never, but who do we call? Every one we spoke to was either too expensive or not the right fit for us. Thanks to Thumbtack, we found Vanessa. We are incredibly happy we did and we couldn't have pulled off our awesome wedding without her. Here's just a few of the reasons why:

1) Attitude - She has the PERFECT demeanor for event planning. She kept us on track, but was never pushy. Very personable and easy to talk to. Every time we spoke to her we felt both at ease and motivated to check more off of our list

2) Creativity - Simply put she has great ideas. Whether it was decor, logistics, floor planning, etc., she listened to our inputs (which weren't always in lockstep - welcome to married life) but put here own spin on things. Our wedding was weeks ago and we still are getting comments on how beautiful everything was.

3) Contacts - Vanessa made great recommendations for vendors, In fact, we had one vendor who was somewhat flaky that we had already booked. She was able to line up a "just in case" vendor for us.

4) Organization - Nothing fell through the cracks and she thought of small details we didn't have the capacity to (because we were too busy being crazy pants).

5) Value - She is worth every penny and I would argue she is a bargain for the service she provides. This is especially in comparison to other planners out there.

Vanessa and Little Black Book Events were terrific! In the months leading up to our wedding, Vanessa offered invaluable advice on everything from vendor pricing to decorations to timelines. We had a fairly large wedding (160-180) with events spread over 4 days in two locations in Vermont. Having Vanessa present throughout the weekend to coordinate vendors and problem solve behind the scenes helped eliminate so much stress! We had an outdoor wedding and it rained all day,, but Vanessa stayed calm and worked with our families to ensure we still had a wonderful ceremony.

Vanessa was an absolute godsend and we could not have gotten through the day without here. Though my husband and I were determined to DIY everything for outlet wedding, we later realized we needed someone to tie everything together and keep things moving on the day of. She coordinated with all of our vendors ahead of time, and participated in the wedding rehearsal. On the day of the wedding, a makeup emergency put us about 30 minutes behind schedule. Despite our panic, Vanessa kept everything calmed and controlled and got us all caught up. Vanessa Young was our wedding planner for our daughter Meghan and Matt's wedding on Thursday, September 24, 2015. We could not ask for a better person to take care of this cherished memory. Vanessa was professional and personable, giving us much guidance the entire planning of this wedding. Everything went beautifully down to the tiniest detail with Vanessa's guidance and care. Vanessa is fantastic. At our first meeting, she opened our eyes to lots of details we had not considered and picked right up with coordinating our vendors after signing on. After another meeting, a phone call and tons of emails -- we were all set. Vanessa handled all the details on the big day and put us completely at ease.
