I was referred to Linda’s tax service by a trusted co worker. I had my taxes done by someone else the last 7 years. I could not be more grateful for this referral. Taxes are painful as they are for many. The front desk gals were very warm and friendly. The ease of making an appointment since I procrastinated was very easy. At my tax appointment I met the sweet short haired gal at the front. (Her name escapes me) we shared some good laughs and I felt right at home. My tax preparer Dawn was wasn’t and friendly, continuing the feeling from the front. She made it so easy and painless. I was very happy with the result. They really treat you like family here. I definitely feel like apart of the family. I've been going here for almost a decade now. Shelly is tax genius. I had an issue with the IRS trying to audit me for a CD account a couple years back. They said I owed over $2000! A little over my head and in need of help, I immediately brought it to Shelly and she pulled tax laws out of the top of her head and proved to the IRS that they were wrong with a tax loophole that they overlooked. She ended up writing the letter herself and sending it in for me on the spot over a cup of coffee, and saving me thousands of dollars! They are especially helpful if you have a small business. All tax preparation is expensive, but I prefer to work with a local business that charges a rate that is comparable or less than the major franchises. Good little business. In my opinion, its the way a CPA/Accountant’s office OUGHT to look like. No frills but comfortable, profits and business success not being wasted on expensive leather chairs and snobby staff.
It’s not a corporate HR/Turbo/Jackson Walmart kiosk BS place with supposedly qualified “agents” barely knowing how to hit a space bar through some DOS based software brain.
And it’s 30-40% more affordable. I felt like the money I paid them was not used to purchase an image for the business, but rather I was charged a reasonable rate that covered the business costs and left the frills in my pocket instead of under my rearend or on fancy, cheesey corporate wall art meant to inspire false hope and distraction from the beating you’re about to take.
They helped me think wisely, knew the laws intimately. Their corporate competitors are the opposite- They depend upon sourcing a handbook when answering a question requiring tax law expertise, critical thinking or even, heaven forbid, logical reasoning.
I don’t go to a tax preparer to show them how to do my taxes. I did for 5 years at HR Block and ended up in an IRS audit that took over a year to survive and cost me $8k in payback. I had even purchased the “audit protection” plan from HR Block and it was worthless. I don’t blame them however. I’m responsible for hiring the idiots in the first place.
I finally forgave myself for that mistake after finding Linda’s Tax Service. Thank you for serving our community, being affordable, kind, understanding and knowledgeable. I only hire someone to do a job if I can’t do it myself. I know what I’m good at and what I’m not. Taxes are not my bag baby.
They’ve done me right and I’ll be back in February for more reminders of how much safer I feel today. Thank you Linda’s Taxe Service!
