This is what G-d eats when he wants barbeque! We came to town late after a 10 hour drive and unexpected car trouble. Most places were closed and Benny's was otherwise empty when we walked in. The menu is small and what they do they do right. The ribs and pork  were some of the best I've ever had and the Mac, Brunswick stew and SMOKED potato salad- that's right... They put the potatoes in their in-house smoker and make them into the most incredible side dish you've never had before- were exceptional. Everything tasted of just the right amount of smoke at a fair price. The lemonade and tea are homemade, included in the meal and not to be missed. The restroom looked clean enough to eat off the floor, so you can assume that the kitchen is even more immaculate.As amazing as our meal was, Benny and his wife helped to make it a once in a lifetime experience. The restaurant was otherwise empty and near closing when we arrived and Benny and his wife came out and basically talked with us about barbeque, travelling and life while we ate. It felt like two extraordinary people had invited us into their family for a short time. Benny even recommended his mechanic after he heard about our car trouble- he was worried we wouldn't be safe on the road the next day...Some people blabber on about their values of service and good will, but this family lives those values in their lives and work every day. Was referred to Lil Benny’s by the staff at Best Western. Found it to be an exceptional experience. Food: great, sauces: great, owners: great. Went on Sun while driving to Hilton Head, glad we beat the church crowd. The service is very friendly. We waited a few for the food to arrive. But the ribs were outstanding! The sides are small but the service is awesome. The tea is as sweet as nectar. My son had the pork ribs which were very meaty. We had this Saturday special beef ribs (lucky they had some left over) which were delicious but not as much meat as the pork ribs. We love trying new BBQ joints on our travels and this one didn't disappoint. Refills are limited and refilled by the owner but he made you feel like family by remembering your names. First time but quickly realized we were in the right place for some real & good BBQ. I split the Angus Beef Ribs with my daughter. Sides included mac-n-cheese, green beans, baked beans, and smoked potato salad. I was told, instead of my usual hot sauce, a dribble of the spicy BBQ sauce greatly enhances the flavors of all the sides, and oh yes it did, as it is designed. BUT the meat stands on its own! The dry rub on the ribs were the perfect combination of sweet, spicy, salty. It didn't need anything else, you just want to rip into them! Even if the food was sub par, you'd just want to keep going back because these are the nicest business owners in the world!  But the good news is that this is the best barbecue ever.  I had the chicken which was the best ever, nothing to take home here.  I ordered the ribs to take Huron the hubby and will have to let you yelpers know, but I have no doubt that they won't disappoint.  These folks should go into the restaurant staff training business but don't give up the barbecue! We just got the 1/2 rack of ribs and 1/2 chicken. There was more than 1/2 rack in the box, thank you. The ribs were excellent, competition style, rub was good, not over done. This is the BEST pulled pork sandwich I've ever had!!! Every side was delicious. We tried the Mac &Cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, green beans and cornbread dressing, even the Brunswick stew was tasty. All homemade and wonderful. I could just go on and on about the food. The only thing misleading about Lil Benny's is that Lil Benny isn't little. He is big on hospitality and hugs. I feel like we just ate at Benny's house. You just must go eat with Lil Benny. I often travel to Macon and was fortunate enough to have someone recommend this fine establishment to me. I also had the distinct pleasure to spend time speaking with Mr. Benny himself and I have to say that it was rather enjoyable since today everyone has their face buried in some electronic device.The food was absolutely awesome - i love the spicy BBQ sauce and I have to tell you they have the absolute best Brunswick stew that I have ever had.
